Continuous Spread of New & Old Diseases + Update MERS in U.S.

resistance-to-antibiotics    Next on the list is the dangerous rise of weakened antibiotics––again a world-wide phenomenon. Briefly: 1) For years doctors have over-prescribed antibiotics; 2) Their use has seeped into food/meat industries as well; and 3) Bacteria have figured out how to get around these ‘miracle’ drugs.

PEW Charitable Trusts Health Initiatives reveals: “An estimated 50 percent of antibiotic use in people is not necessary. Up to 70 percent of antibiotics sold in the U.S. are given to cows, chickens, pigs, and other farm animals to maximize growth and to compensate for crowded and dirty farm conditions.

“This rampant overuse of antibiotics has resulted in the development of resistant bacteria—including MRSA—that are more difficult to treat and more likely to cause death particularly among children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.”

Dina Fine Maron from scientificamerican.com claims the world is almost in a “post-antibiotic era.” This would mean that simple scratches, once easily treated with an antibiotic cream, can result in deep infections or even death.

The Extinction Protocol raises alarm with “Antibiotic resistance is now a bigger crisis than the AIDS epidemic of Antibiotic+resistancethe 1980s, a landmark report warned. The WHO (World Health Organization) said in some countries, because of resistance, carbapenems now do not work in more than half of people with common hospital-acquired infections caused by a bacteria called K. pneumoniae, such as pneumonia, blood infections, and infections in newborn babies and intensive-care patients.”

Sarah Boseley, health editor of theguardian.com confirms:  “No country is immune, as bacteria and viruses resistant to drugs travel the globe with ease. . . sexually transmitted gonorrhea is on the increase and is also resistant to the last-resort antibiotics used to treat it. . . drug-resistant tuberculosis, which is spreading and requires more than a year of treatment with combinations of antibiotics that are unaffordable in some countries.”

She adds that WHO now urges governments and pharmaceutical companies to begin research immediately on new antibiotics, but they will “sparingly for fear of resistance developing – and when that begins, they have a short lifespan.”

[Update on MERS in U.S.: One medical worker in the Florida case has been hospitalized; 18 other employees at Phillips and Orlando Regional Medical Center. are considered endangered and undergoing tests. CDC and WHO have not reported on some 700 people on air flights from Saudi Arabia with the two MERS victims.

[The World Health Organization (WHO) claims 571 MERS cases have been reported worldwide–171 have proved fatal.  The majority of the cases have occurred in health care settings in Saudi Arabia. NPR’s Jason Beaubien discloses: “A WHO team in Saudi Arabia last week saw breaches of infection control.”]

It is past time for God’s people to ask His Holy Spirit for increasing gifts of healings.  As wholesale Christian Bibles teach:  “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. . . Have all the gifts of healing? But covet earnestly the best gifts . . . (1 Corinthians 12: 29 – 31).
