Animal Kids: Enough on MERS, “We Need Space for Animal Stories!”

Jairo-Mora-SandovalJohn J. Jr.: Dear Jael:  This is John J. Jr., you know the one you put in charge of the kids. Well, they are quite upset over the amount of blog space these medical reports get lately, especially stuff about MERS. They claim their issues loom just as large in importance. Well, almost as large, anyway.

Lucy Lip: Absolutely. We got stories about murders and suspects, not just about some yokels who flew over here with sick stuff from far away! Enough already! A year ago sea turtle poachers in Costa Rica kidnapped and killed Jairo Mora Sandovol, one of our long-time graduates who has worked for years to protect endangered sea turtles.

All us kids at international ‘earth-end’ joined 165,000 others to support Turtle Island Restoration Network protest demanding action against those guilty thugs. Six months ago police arrested seven men, but last week,       prosecutors finally filed murder charges against them.

Todd Steiner, Network Director wrote to thank us “for all you do to protect our blue-green planet.” See Dr. Jael, we told you our work is very urgent! He writes: “With leatherbacks already pushed to the brink of extinction. . . nesting turtles need protection from illegal killing and poaching their eggs.

“The dedicated conservationists who patrol nesting beaches and reach sea turtle nests before poachers continue to need our support to ensure the     survival of these gentle giant sea turtles and the safety of nest monitors.”

Editor Newspaper Kids: We agree Lucy. Our overseas reporters send in lots of stories about some people killed in Ukraine uprisings, and the dangers to       kids. And money there is right, I mean common people are scared and poor.       Ida Wells, IV can’t get a word in edgewise with this MERS stuff every day.

Maury Schultz, Esq.: I been sending in stories right and left, and even if I’m new here, it don’t make no sense that nothing gets on-line. What about those bear attacks in Florida?  Not one animal blog at all. I can do better ‘en that at the Tribune. At least they’s seem to value kids news more.

Brother Michael: What bear attacks in Florida or anywhere else?  Anyone hurt?

Maury:  Well, in ‘Bear Drags Florida Woman from Garage,’ teens at CNN say this woman walked into her garage to find bear-getting-into-garbagefive bears roaming through her trash. Seminole County Sheriff’s Lt. Pete Brenenstuhl says one of ‘em “dragged    her from inside the garage out into her driveway, leaving her with scrapes and cuts to her face and legs.” Neighbors say her face was all bloodied up! They took her to the hospital, but she is ok now I think.

And get this, those state wildlife guys tells people since winter’s over, bears and cubs will go through neighborhoods searching for food, so people should get “bear-resistant trash cans.” What kind of warning is that? Just get better trash cans? After all bears are in your house! Come on!

Brother Michael:  That’s why Dr. Jael’s animal book warns about people  encroaching on land that rightly belongs to animals. It ain’t right afore God. Like our plus size Christian t-shirts say God appointed us to be stewards over animals, not take their land and kill them for no reason:

“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and  over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that     creepeth upon the earth (Genesis 1: 26).” Dominion means to care for, like a king cares for his domain. Get it? Dominion––domain!

John J. Jr.  Well doc, we’ll go now.  Hope to hear from you with Good News soon!
