Why Paul Gave No New Instructions

I have been working on a Book, titled: “The Book of Healing Scriptures,” for subjects to read on our new Internet Radio Station, Victory Broadcast Center (–website; 313-242-7156 phone). It has taken long tedious hours, and still yet I have not exhausted the number of times Our Father God talks about Health and Healing in His Holy Word.

Literally hundreds of times in The Bible, The LORD talks about the many opportunities that believers have to receive healing for any ailment, sickness or disease. But in most cases, such healing requires repentance on the sick believer’s part. Even when the beloved King David caught a venereal disease because of his sexual sins with Bathsheba, he had to seriously repent before he could receive his healing:

” O LORD, rebuke me not in thy wrath: neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. For thine arrows stick fast in me, and thy hand presseth me sore. There is no soundness in my flesh because of thine anger; neither is there any rest in my bones because of my sin.

“For mine iniquities are gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me. My wounds stink and are corrupt because of my foolishness. I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.

For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh (Psalm 38: 1 – 7).”

Finally, he repents: “For I will declare mine iniquity; I will be sorry for my sin. . . . Forsake me not, O LORD: O my God, be not far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord my salvation (38: 18 – 22).”

Thus, even the mighty, the most beloved, King David, had to repent before he could receive his healing.

Then there are other sections in The Holy Bible wherein God declares that those who are sick cannot, will never, be healed. The prophet Jeremiah especially speaks of these. He declares that all of the nation of Israel in his day was sick unto death and could not be healed. How sad!

But then I get to the New Testament–of course to the multiple healing miracles during The LORD Jesus’ ministry, and again the many healings the apostles carried out in the Book of Acts. And then BAM!! In all the books the Apostle Paul writes to the churches he founded–from Romans to Titus–there are no mentions of miraculous healings.

How strange I thought. Then it dawned on me: Paul founded all those churches, he trained and appointed the pastors, deacons, etc., in each of them. He didn’t have to instruct them that they were responsible for the health and well being of their church members. He didn’t have to teach them on how to heal their church members, because he had taught them how to do so before he appointed them to the ministry!

What sadness and despair today. Few pastors assume responsibility for the health of their members. Fewer more even teach or preach about healing miracles. Ezekiel speaks of these when he writes: “Son of man, prophesy against the shepherds of Israel, prophesy, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto the shepherds; Woe [be] to the shepherds of Israel that do feed themselves! should not the shepherds feed the flocks?”

“Ye eat the fat, and ye clothe you with the wool, ye kill them that are fed: [but] ye feed not the flock. The diseased have ye not strengthened, neither have ye healed that which was sick, neither have ye bound up [that which was] broken, neither have ye brought again that which was driven away, neither have ye sought that which was lost; but with force and with cruelty have ye ruled them.

“And they were scattered, because [there is] no shepherd: and they became meat to all the beasts of the field, when they were scattered (Ezekiel 34: 2 – 5).”

Again, how sad that this prophet could see beyond his day to our own!

In the last several decades there have been numerous film and ‘made-for-television’ adaptations of Jane Austen’s novel, “Pride and Prejudice”. The book’s TV re-enactment can be seen today on the Mormon-owned ‘Christian’ television station, which is listed among several Christian-owned TV networks, which include such speakers as Joyce Meyers, T.D. Jakes, Mike Murphy, etc. (Mormon Channel is an over the air and Internet radio station owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). It is based in Salt Lake City, Utah.)

Versions of Austen’s text can also be found on such secular stations as OVA or ‘Ovation’, which is a privately held, independent cable network. Ovation’s investors include Hubbard Media Group, Corporate Partners II, Arcadia Investment Partners, and Perry Capital. Thus, both extremely wealthy ‘Christian,’ and private secularly-owned stations present Austen’s version of morality to the public.

In speaking about those who dislike her writings, Austen responded: “The fact is, that you were sick of civility, of deference, of officious attention. You were disgusted with the women who were always speaking, and looking, and thinking for your approbation alone. I roused, and interested you, because I was so unlike them.” One critic insists: “Austen’s narratives move towards these moments of self-realization, which are the most dramatic and memorable in her novels. Austen is also attempting to educate readers, particularly their emotions. Throughout Austen’s novels, reading is associated with intellectual and moral development.”

Which brings us to the point: Why are some people preaching, teaching, broadcasting, writing what they perceive as The Bible, The Gospel or The Word of God — or rather their interpretations of God’s Holy Word? Are their multiple purposes to present Biblical Truth in their “approbations” alone, or are they ‘disgusted’ with what the Bible actually says about itself and Christianity?

Even The Mormon Church is now accepted with the groupings of Christian television stations as ‘legitimate’ Christianity. And lately, the Catholic Church has managed to legitimize itself in popular culture as not just Christian, but wholly necessary for “national safety and salvation,” through depiction of a Catholic police family praying together after mass services at Sunday dinner in the famous TV series ‘Blue Bloods’.

Of course, all of these depictions are part of the world-wide quest to present self-interpretations of ‘True Christianity.’ The questions are, however, do these depictions of Christianity represent or even refer back to what God’s Holy Word actually says about itself and Christianity? The truth is there is only some acknowledgment of the “true Christian message.

The LORD Jesus Christ said about Himself: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14: 6).” And The Savior said of The Father: “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. . . God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth (John 4: 23 – 24).

Reading or writing a novel won’t do it. Nor joining a church; nor will running dozens of television programs do it. It is time for all people to understand, that the only way to know God, through His Son, is to come to Him in repentance, sincerity and truth!
