Too often Americans take food safety for granted. Some items––such as meat, ice cream, sodas, fish, vegetables and fruits, etc.––could be just as treacherous as killer snake bites, ravenous dogs, and the most deadly poisons.
AP reporters Terry Wallace and Nicholas Clayton write: “The deaths of three people who developed a food-borne illness linked to Blue Bell ice cream products have prompted the Texas icon’s first product recall in its 108-year history.”
They were among five people sickened with this ice cream while in a Kansas hospital: “According to . . . the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, all five of the people sickened were receiving treatment for unrelated health issues at the same Kansas hospital before developing listeriosis, a finding that strongly suggests their infections (with listeria bacteria) were acquired in the hospital.”
In ‘Kansas Officials: 3 Dead after Listeria Linked to Ice Cream Products,’ Amanda Watts of CNN warns: “The Food and Drug Administration said Blue Bell has removed potentially contaminated products . . . from the retailers and hospital settings. The company shut down production line where the products were made.
“The FDA is warning consumers to who may have purchased the following items to discard them: Chocolate Chip Country Cookie, Great Divide Bar, Sour Pop Green Apple Bar, Cotton Candy Bar, Scoops, Vanilla Stick Slices, Almond Bar, No-Sugar Added Mooo Bar (regular Mooo Bars are not included).”
According to foodsafety.gov, listeria is a bacteria found in soil, water and some animals. “It can be present in raw milk and foods made from raw milk. It can also live in food processing plants. it can grow even in cold temperature[s].”
On his way by sea to trial before the Roman government, Paul warned captain and crew that an extremely dangerous storm was coming and they should wait. But they wouldn’t listen. According to used Christian Bibles, Paul prayed for the crew’s safety, but the ship itself was wrecked. Apostle Luke, a physician, who traveled with Paul writes:
“And while the day was coming on, Paul besought them all to take meat, saying, This day is the fourteenth day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing. Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.
“And when he had thus spoken, he took bread, and gave thanks to God in presence of them all: and when he had broken it, he began to eat. Then were they all of good cheer, and they also took some meat. And we were in all in the ship two hundred threescore and sixteen souls (Acts 27: 33 – 37).”
What do the apostles establish here: 1) Food is for health, not pleasure; 2) Believers must thank God for their food; 3) After fasting, food is necessary to sustain life; 4) Food provisions ultimately come from God’s divine miracles––they are not a political right to take for granted.
As the ship stores were destroyed, where did the food Paul served come from? God provided it––just as He miraculously fed Israel in the wilderness––after Paul fasted and prayed. Thus, Christians should not take food for granted, and they definitely should pray before they eat.
OK. Let’s try this again: This record 2014-15 winter proves, not disproves, Global Warming realities. Take a look at the ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ film, based on Vice President Al Gore’s assessment that ultra-winter snow and ice is caused by melting Arctic waters putting an over-abundance of moisture in the atmosphere.
While he disagrees with the movie’s premise that Global Warming could bring about such unprecedented ‘icy’ disasters, Dr. Jeffrey Masters, Director of Meteorology at Weather Underground, Inc., writes about the movie: “Like much science fiction, ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ is based on some solid scientific facts:
“Global warming could push the climate system past a threshold where a sudden, irreversible climate shift would occur. This would most likely happen if the increased precipitation and glacial melt water from global warming could flood the North Atlantic with enough fresh water to slow down or even halt the mighty Gulf Stream ocean current.
“Without the Gulf Stream pumping warm, tropical water to the North Atlantic, average temperatures would cool in Europe and North America by 5°F or more in just a few years–not enough to trigger a full-fledged ice age, but enough cooling to bring snows in June and killing frosts in July and August to New England and northern Europe, such as in . . . ‘year without a summer” in 1816’.”
Twentieth century fiction writers predicted these types of winters. Works such as ‘The Sixth Winter’ by Douglas Orgill and John Gribbin; ‘Fifty Degrees Below’ by Kim Stanley Robinson; ‘Time of the Great Freeze’ by Robert Silverberg and ‘The World in Winter’ by John Christopher—all warning of unlivable winters.
‘The Coming Global Superstorm,’ a novel by Art Bell and Whitney Strieber is the basis of ‘The Day After Tomorrow.’ Again, the work’s basis is collapse of the climate-warming Gulf Stream, dumping massive amounts of fresh water into salty oceans, resulting in unrelenting masses of atmospheric water, turned to icy snow.
No scientist or novelist fully comprehends the ultimate effects Global Warming. But obviously it is: 1) Wiping out several island nations; 2) Causing rising sea water levels to severely threaten land boundaries on the U.S. East Coast and elsewhere; 3) Displacing domestic and economic forecasts for winter seasons in years to come; and 4) Bringing predictions of 1,000 year droughts. Whether man likes it or not, Global Warming interferes with human plans for life on earth.
Wholesale Christian Bibles indicate that God lives in His planet on the North side of the universe: “Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King (Psalm 48: 2).”
That same word says Satan operates from the South end of earth, “Out of the south cometh the whirlwind . . . (Job 37: 9). However, that verse ends with “cold out of the north.” Verse 22 in that chapter promises that God can send pleasant air as well: “Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.”
Much of this unpleasant weather results from Satan’s aggression to overturn God’s rulership: “For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north . . . (Isaiah 14: 13).” So it is up to man to choose God’s side. He alone has the Infinite power to bring evil destruction to its end, and to establish pleasant healthy weather on earth now and for ever!
