These include: 1) More sprawling geographical areas resulting from human populations increasing by the billions; 2) Man’s continual digging into underground areas for oil research, fracking, industrial construction, etc.;
3) Underground holes forming in weakened areas creating hollow spaces unable to support ground above; 4) Failures of governments to limit growth in these areas and to make major repairs on bridges, retaining walls and other underground structures. As a result sink holes increase in number, size and severity.
According to Nature News “Bloomberg reports that fracking is a likely cause for a dramatic rise (sixfold) in earthquake activity from 2000 to 2011, not to mention contamination of the water and food supply. Extreme mining practices by Texas Brine and others are also responsible for triggering the sinkholes.”
In ‘Sinkholes: Should We Be Scared?,’ Kate Henderson argues: “Sinkholes in urban areas are more common after intense rainfall, as underground channels are eroded, especially if they have high limestone or other soft rock content, gypsum or salt. [After] caverns form, the hollow is too big . . . Then it implodes.”
She notes: “. . . in storm-battered Britain, a chasm that was twenty-foot deep and thirty-five feet wide appeared in the middle of a Hemel Hempstead housing estate . . . Carla Rance, had been worried when her front porch inexplicably sank six weeks ago. Her landlords had assured her all was fine. Today her next-door neighbor’s house hangs precariously over the drop. Assessors predict at least two of the homes will have to be demolished. They were only built six years ago.”
At the end of last month some dozen parked cars fell into a giant sinkhole in Baltimore, Maryland. On a quiet street with houses built as early as 1890, cars slid over a collapsing retaining wall and down into the hole onto a CSX railroad track.
Although no one was injured, one witness said “The building shock almost like the earthquake but not quite as bad. … I came out and the street was gone. Just like that!” Others in the area said the sinking hole movement took about 15 seconds, and sounded like a rather ordinary roar of thunder.
Just this month brucegarrett.com blogged explains that that huge sink hole in Baltimore is just another in a series of Global Warming disasters set up by deferred maintenance that hit the city recently: “… everyone who was here when the Howard Street tunnel caught fire in July 2001 knows what is going to happen now. People were complaining about the retaining wall that collapsed last Wednesday, years before this, and CSX kept telling them there was nothing to worry about.”
Americans should know that in Bible prophecies, sink holes are signs of God’s judgment: “But if The LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked The LORD. And it came to pass, . . . that the ground clave asunder that was under them: And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods (Numbers 16: 1 – 32).”
The people of Portland, Oregon, are finally able to use their tap water without boiling it after officials found E Coli in one of the city’s open reservoirs. Grocery stores, large chain supermarkets, convenience gas stations, and mom and pop shops quickly sold out of bottled water, sparkling water, juice, beer and ice.
Paresh Dave says in ‘Portland Water Scare: Water Bottles Sell Out, Restaurants Close’ that as they prepared to spend a dreadful Memorial Day weekend, Portlanders also chucked food already on hand for fear it was potentially contaminated. And they used every possible pot to boil water for all uses.
He writes: “About 670,000 people in the Portland area were told after lunch Friday to boil water used for drinking, cooking and tooth-brushing. Three routine tests this week showed the water system was contaminated by E. coli bacteria, usually associated with animal or human fecal matter.
“Restaurants, cafes and the city’s famous craft brewers responded in different ways. Several closed for the day.” On Twitter, Stumptown Coffee chain wrote :“It’s an extra safety precaution related to rinsing milk pitchers, ice, dish washing, etc. Sorry about the inconvenience!”
A health official––admitting that harmful bacteria had gotten into the city’s water supply––dismissed it as “the worst condition someone likely would suffer is diarrhea.” Thankfully, hotels also warned customers not to drink from their taps.
Finally, a full day later in an updated article, ‘Portland’s Boil-Water Notice Lifted; E. Coli Test Comes Back Clean,’ Paresh Dave explains: “At 11 a.m., the Portland Water Bureau lifted a boil-water notice that had been in effect for about 24 hours. During tests this week, officials had detected the presence of the bacteria E. coli. The tests came back negative Saturday.
“The water bureau urged residents and businesses to discard food, ice and drinks made with tap water since Tuesday. The bureau plans to flush out two of its open-air reservoirs, and it recommended people let their taps run for about 2 minutes to flush out any residual bacteria in the pipes.”
Portland is one of the few American cities still using open reservoirs, (even after a teen was caught on video urinating through the fence around one). Next April, the Environmental Protection Agency’s rule applies that all drinking water reservoirs must be covered, or else water passing through them must be re-treated.
Interestingly while all this was going on in Portland, the city’s citizens vociferously rejected the mayor’s wish to put fluoride in drinking water––again a practice in most American cities. As USA Today reveals: “With more than 80 percent of the expected ballots counted late Tuesday night, the Multnomah County election website showed the fluoride proposal failing, 60 percent to 40 percent.”
Despite what many believers think, Christianity is not a democracy where a majority rules. In this glorious Body where Jesus Christ is LORD, and God, The Father, is Everlasting King, Their laws ultimately rule. And while Their merciful grace and patience pours upon the earth constantly, a time comes when each ends.
As wholesale Christian t-shirts warn “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4: 17).”
The tainted food summer-saga has started early this year. A minor internet story exploded onto major media outlets this week: 1.8 million pounds of ground beef, as well as raw clover spouts and mushrooms, slither with E.coli infections.
When the smaller story first broke, it was assumed that the poisoned hamburger from Wolverine Packing Company in Detroit, Michigan, was only distributed to restaurants in that state and Massachusetts, Missouri and Ohio. But investigators found that food brokers have distributed that meat across the country.
As Samantha Bonar of L.A. Weekly reveals, this particular E.coli strain is the most dangerous: “The ground beef is potentially contaminated with E. coli O157:H7, the nastiest strain of the bacteria, which can lead to deadly kidney failure, particularly in children and the elderly.
“The FSIS ranks this a Class I, ‘high health risk’ recall, which means, this is a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death.”
Caroline Smith DeWaal, Director of Food Safety for the Center for Science in the Public Interest, told NBC News: “It’s infrequent that we have a major outbreak from E. coli these days but when it happens, it’s very serious, and it can land quite a number of its victims in the hospital.”
According to CNN, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has reported “Seven confirmed and three likely cases of E. coli infection linked to raw clover sprouts” in Idaho and Washington State. Half are hospitalized.
CDC confirmed the raw clover sprouts come from Evergreen Fresh Sprouts LLC of Idaho, while some 14, 860 pounds of hummus and dip products came from Lansal, Inc. of Texas, and some bulk and packaged walnuts come from Sherman Produce. None of these products should be eaten for any reason!
Officials have pulled the products as precautionary steps aimed at guarding against possible “Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause serious or possible fatal infections in people with weakened immune systems.
Escherichia coli include a large batch of bacteria. The strain in the raw sprouts is Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O121. These infections can cause severe diarrhea, stomach pain and vomiting. Hopefully, recovery comes within seven days, but in stronger complications kidney failure, pregnancy miscarriage, stillbirth, or serious infections in newborn babies can result.
CNN adds: “Symptoms of a Listeria infection in an otherwise healthy person include fever, muscle aches, stiff neck, headache, loss of balance and convulsions.”
This is the largest food-borne bacteria outbreak since the summer of 2008, when 7 million pounds of meat from Nebraska Beef were pulled and 79 were sickened.
Texas health officials included recall of: “Target Archer Farms hummus products nationwide. Certain Giant Eagle hummus products in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland; 8-ounce container of Trader Joe’s Edamame Hummus is recalled in 17 states with use-by dates of April 28, April 29 and May 9; and containers of Tryst Yellow Lentil Hummus with Sunflower Seeds & Apricots.”
Lansal buyers can call 877-550-0694; for Sherman Produce call 314-231-2896.
This blogger will cover more on this outbreak soon. While asking Almighty God that no more poisons enter our nation’s food stream, remember to thank God always for every meal. As plus-sized Christian t-shirts declare: “Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread (Matthew 6: 10-11).”
Dr. Boring is on overseas assignment, so he has asked me (earthend’s Africa and Asia medical practitioner and correspondent) to issue this blog on preventive measures so readers should take in this day of globally spreading diseases.
Lizzie Bennett of Underground Medic writes: “The single most important thing you can do to prevent the spread of disease in a crisis is to keep your hands clean and keep them away from your nose and mouth.”
But she goes even further. “Wearing gloves when out and about will prevent you picking up germs on your hands. Be sure not to touch your nose or face until you have removed your gloves and washed your hands.”
In ‘Are You Ready Series: Pandemic Preparedness,’ Tess Pennington agrees: “Keep your hands clean. Washing your hands often will help protect you from germs. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand rub or make your own natural hand sanitizer.” For self-made hand sanitizer, she suggests:
She suggests one cup of pure aloe vera gel, 1 or 2 teaspoons of witch hazel and 8 drops of essential oils, such as cedar wood, lavender, lemon, lemon grass, myrrh, neroli, patchouli, peppermint, rose, sandalwood, tea tree, thyme, etc.
Ms. Bennett’s next step may seem far-reaching, but days are coming when it may soon be necessary: “Have as little physical contact with ‘outsiders’ as possible and consider wearing a face mask or a scarf over your nose and mouth.
“In addition to forming a physical barrier to many airborne contaminants it minimizes the risks of hand to mouth contamination should you touch your face with contaminated fingers, be they gloved or not.”
Do you remember those days when thinking it odd that people asked you to remove your shoes before entering their home? Well Lizzie thinks that’s a good idea too: “Make sure you remove outerwear, including footwear before re-entering your home. Mites, ticks, feces etc picked up by your outer clothes will not make it indoors if you remove them and put them into a bucket with a lid.”
After seven days, bugs are gone. Also, “keep a tub of some kind full of bleach water just outside the door so that hands can be washed before entering. Pay attention to the area between the fingers, the tips of your fingers and your nails.”
For serious disease pandemics (which well may be coming soon), Tess Pennington also suggests: “1) Store a two week supply of water and food. During a pandemic, if you cannot get to a store, or if stores are out of supplies, it will be important for you to have extra supplies on hand; 2) Have a supply of face masks to wear around those who may be ill or exposed to the illness;
3) Periodically check your regular prescription drugs to ensure a continuous supply in your home; 4) Have any nonprescription drugs and other health supplies on hand, including pain relievers, stomach remedies, cough and cold medicines, fluids with electrolytes, and vitamins; 5) Prepare a sick room for the home to limit family member’s exposure to the virus.”
Finally, Pennington closes with more excellent advice: “Pandemic outbreaks are fast moving and vaccines may not be able to stop it. This natural occurring disaster is not one you should take lightly.”
But most Americans are not prepared for ‘normal’ illnesses, much less pandemics. Christians must keep in mind the slogan on earth-end’s plus-sized Christian t-shirts: “. . . I Am The LORD that healeth thee (Exodus 15: 26).”
John J. Jr.: Dear Jael: This is John J. Jr., you know the one you put in charge of the kids. Well, they are quite upset over the amount of blog space these medical reports get lately, especially stuff about MERS. They claim their issues loom just as large in importance. Well, almost as large, anyway.
Lucy Lip: Absolutely. We got stories about murders and suspects, not just about some yokels who flew over here with sick stuff from far away! Enough already! A year ago sea turtle poachers in Costa Rica kidnapped and killed Jairo Mora Sandovol, one of our long-time graduates who has worked for years to protect endangered sea turtles.
All us kids at international ‘earth-end’ joined 165,000 others to support Turtle Island Restoration Network protest demanding action against those guilty thugs. Six months ago police arrested seven men, but last week, prosecutors finally filed murder charges against them.
Todd Steiner, Network Director wrote to thank us “for all you do to protect our blue-green planet.” See Dr. Jael, we told you our work is very urgent! He writes: “With leatherbacks already pushed to the brink of extinction. . . nesting turtles need protection from illegal killing and poaching their eggs.
“The dedicated conservationists who patrol nesting beaches and reach sea turtle nests before poachers continue to need our support to ensure the survival of these gentle giant sea turtles and the safety of nest monitors.”
Editor Newspaper Kids: We agree Lucy. Our overseas reporters send in lots of stories about some people killed in Ukraine uprisings, and the dangers to kids. And money there is right, I mean common people are scared and poor. Ida Wells, IV can’t get a word in edgewise with this MERS stuff every day.
Maury Schultz, Esq.: I been sending in stories right and left, and even if I’m new here, it don’t make no sense that nothing gets on-line. What about those bear attacks in Florida? Not one animal blog at all. I can do better ‘en that at the Tribune. At least they’s seem to value kids news more.
Brother Michael: What bear attacks in Florida or anywhere else? Anyone hurt?
Maury: Well, in ‘Bear Drags Florida Woman from Garage,’ teens at CNN say this woman walked into her garage to find five bears roaming through her trash. Seminole County Sheriff’s Lt. Pete Brenenstuhl says one of ‘em “dragged her from inside the garage out into her driveway, leaving her with scrapes and cuts to her face and legs.” Neighbors say her face was all bloodied up! They took her to the hospital, but she is ok now I think.
And get this, those state wildlife guys tells people since winter’s over, bears and cubs will go through neighborhoods searching for food, so people should get “bear-resistant trash cans.” What kind of warning is that? Just get better trash cans? After all bears are in your house! Come on!
Brother Michael: That’s why Dr. Jael’s animal book warns about people encroaching on land that rightly belongs to animals. It ain’t right afore God. Like our plus size Christian t-shirts say God appointed us to be stewards over animals, not take their land and kill them for no reason:
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth (Genesis 1: 26).” Dominion means to care for, like a king cares for his domain. Get it? Dominion––domain!
John J. Jr. Well doc, we’ll go now. Hope to hear from you with Good News soon!
Next on the list is the dangerous rise of weakened antibiotics––again a world-wide phenomenon. Briefly: 1) For years doctors have over-prescribed antibiotics; 2) Their use has seeped into food/meat industries as well; and 3) Bacteria have figured out how to get around these ‘miracle’ drugs.
PEW Charitable Trusts Health Initiatives reveals: “An estimated 50 percent of antibiotic use in people is not necessary. Up to 70 percent of antibiotics sold in the U.S. are given to cows, chickens, pigs, and other farm animals to maximize growth and to compensate for crowded and dirty farm conditions.
“This rampant overuse of antibiotics has resulted in the development of resistant bacteria—including MRSA—that are more difficult to treat and more likely to cause death particularly among children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems.”
Dina Fine Maron from scientificamerican.com claims the world is almost in a “post-antibiotic era.” This would mean that simple scratches, once easily treated with an antibiotic cream, can result in deep infections or even death.
The Extinction Protocol raises alarm with “Antibiotic resistance is now a bigger crisis than the AIDS epidemic of the 1980s, a landmark report warned. The WHO (World Health Organization) said in some countries, because of resistance, carbapenems now do not work in more than half of people with common hospital-acquired infections caused by a bacteria called K. pneumoniae, such as pneumonia, blood infections, and infections in newborn babies and intensive-care patients.”
Sarah Boseley, health editor of theguardian.com confirms: “No country is immune, as bacteria and viruses resistant to drugs travel the globe with ease. . . sexually transmitted gonorrhea is on the increase and is also resistant to the last-resort antibiotics used to treat it. . . drug-resistant tuberculosis, which is spreading and requires more than a year of treatment with combinations of antibiotics that are unaffordable in some countries.”
She adds that WHO now urges governments and pharmaceutical companies to begin research immediately on new antibiotics, but they will “sparingly for fear of resistance developing – and when that begins, they have a short lifespan.”
[Update on MERS in U.S.: One medical worker in the Florida case has been hospitalized; 18 other employees at Phillips and Orlando Regional Medical Center. are considered endangered and undergoing tests. CDC and WHO have not reported on some 700 people on air flights from Saudi Arabia with the two MERS victims.
[The World Health Organization (WHO) claims 571 MERS cases have been reported worldwide–171 have proved fatal. The majority of the cases have occurred in health care settings in Saudi Arabia. NPR’s Jason Beaubien discloses: “A WHO team in Saudi Arabia last week saw breaches of infection control.”]
It is past time for God’s people to ask His Holy Spirit for increasing gifts of healings. As wholesale Christian Bibles teach: “And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. . . Have all the gifts of healing? But covet earnestly the best gifts . . . (1 Corinthians 12: 29 – 31).
No new news today on 3rd and 4th MERS victims––hospital workers in the Florida facility treating the second carrier from Saudi Arabia. However, the CDC is posting advisories at 20 U.S. airports to warn travelers about the MERS virus.
That warning reads: “If you are traveling to countries in or near the Arabian Peninsula, CDC recommends that you pay attention to your health during and after your trip. You should call a doctor right away if you develop fever and symptoms of lower respiratory illness, such as cough or shortness of breath, within 14 days after traveling from countries in or near the Arabian Peninsula.”
No. 5 on that ‘old’ list of 13 diseases now spreading around the world is about great increases of Hepatitis C in most countries. Raymond T. Chung and Thomas F. Baumert report in New England Journal of Medicine:
“Chronic Hepatitis C is a major cause of liver cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma worldwide. . . about 3% of the world’s population, are chronically infected with the Hepatitis C virus (HCV). [It] is often diagnosed at a late stage (in high-income countries) or seldom diagnosed at all (in low- or middle-income countries). . . reinfection remains possible even after successful curative therapy.”
Philippe Douste-Blazy of theguardian.com advises that many of the 180 people invested with this disease yearly now protest potential high costs of treatment medications. Many of the victims have experience with such protests.
New drugs, more effective than the present injection-tablet year-long treatments, can cost up to $ 84,000 for a 12-week dosage. Many Hepatitis C patients also have HIV. HIV patients, now living longer because drug costs were lowered after protests, today face Hepatitis C a major cause of death among them.
Philippe Douste-Blazy writes: “Manufacturers of new Hepatitis C medicines are likely to offer the poorest countries a less expensive version. But pharmaceutical firms will not offer discounts to middle-income countries they regard as emerging markets, where about 75% of people with hepatitis C live.”
What these doctors and journalists infer politely is that Hepatitis C is often transmitted through sexual contact. Because of such possible contamination, God advised Old Testament Jews, both male and female, to be celibate before marriage.
Moreover, He warned Jewish tribes not to inter-marry with other tribes, because witchcraft and idolatry always involve illicit sexual––even animalized (Hepatitis first discovered among chimpanzees in 1989)––activity. That commandment was not lessened for New Testament believers.
In God’s kingdom, the social construction of reality is far different from the world’s. It includes spiritual, as well as physical, visions of realities (i.e. as seeing through a greater microscope): “Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge (Hebrews 13: 4).”
For those to whom the second part of the verse may apply, remember that His kingdom also includes great realms of mercy, and those mercies come through the sacrifice of His Son, Who cries out loudly today: “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11: 28).”
Remember, there is no sin, no plague, no evil inventions that can attack with more power than that of the Blood of Jesus: “And they overcame him by the Blood of The Lamb, and by the word of their testimony (Revelation 12: 11).” So, in addition to doctors, look to Jesus for His healing of your every need.
No. 5 on that ‘old’ list of spreading diseases is about great increases of Hepatitis C in most countries. However, the problem with ‘aged’ list is that they keep growing. So we should add to the list: 11) Unexpected rises in polio; 12) Mystery illness called CKDu; and 13) A new MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) superbug. But first, yes, the U.S. has another MERS case!
While the first MERS patient is now released from the Munster, Indiana, hospital (although hospital workers stay home in isolation until 14 days are ended), and is said to be doing fine, a second carrier has been found in Florida.
ABC News reports “Health officials did not immediately release additional detail about his travels or his week in Florida, except to say he was not at any theme parks and remained in the Orlando area to see family.” He is at Dr. P. Phillips Hospital in Orlando.
Health officials now attempt to “contact as many as 500 people who were on the three flights within the United States to let them know the situation and watch for symptoms.” Others he has had close contact with in the U.S. are also being tested. People on the flight from Jeddah to London also will be contacted.
CNN News adds: “The Florida patient traveled on May 1 from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, to London, then from London to Boston; Boston to Atlanta; and Atlanta to Orlando.” While he is also a hospital worker in Saudi Arabia, there is apparently no connection between the two cases.
Dr. Tom Frieden, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) explains that most people infected caught the disease while caring for those with MERS either at home or in health care. Frieden stressed the need for infection control, rapid detection and needed isolation in hospitals, according to Fox News.
Dr. Anne Schuchat, Assistant Surgeon General with the U.S. Public Health Service and Director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, insists the: “risk to the general public remains very low.
“This virus has not shown the ability to spread easily from person to person in community settings.” She says the person felt sick when first leaving Jeddah, and continued on with fever, chills and coughing. But he did not report to the hospital until May 8. Now that the disease is in the U.S., CDC sent a team to Saudi Arabia to further investigate this dangerous outbreak.
She further told CNN that according to the World Health Organization (WHO): “As of Friday, there have been 538 cases in 27 countries, including 145 deaths.” MERS first emerged in 2011, but was only diagnosed on the Arabian Peninsula in 2012. There are still no travel restrictions from that area.
As stated in earlier posts, waves of new and old diseases now wash over the world. Readers who think they may have contracted one of these difficult-to-cure illnesses––in addition to medical assistance––should be in a church, or at least among a group of individuals, where people understand strong praying warfare.
According to Christian messages, during His earthly ministry, The LORD Jesus Christ connected some diseases with demonic activities: “And He healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew Him (Mark 1: 34).”
Only spiritually mature Christians know what to do in such cases. During these days of raging sickness and death, it is not the time for Sunday-only, short-prayer, generally weak Christians. It is time for grown and growing, mature faith!
International health organizations have issued world-wide alarms about the disturbing rise of polio in at least 10 countries in Asia, Africa and the Middle East. The greatest risk is from adult travelers carrying contamination to children.
The World Health Organization (WHO) determines that even in the present ‘low transmission season’ an international increase of wild poliovirus is spreading from “3 of the 10 ‘high risk’ States that are currently infected: in central Asia (from Pakistan to Afghanistan), in the Middle East (Syrian Arab Republic to Iraq) and in Central Africa (Cameroon to Equatorial Guinea).”
WHO recommends that those traveling from those countries be certified they have received polio vaccinations. The Associated Press says this is most extreme action: “WHO has never before issued an international alert on polio.”
WHO defines polio or poliomyelitis as: “A highly infectious viral disease, which mainly affects young children. The virus is transmitted through contaminated food and water, and multiplies in the intestine, from where it can invade the nervous system. Many infected people have no symptoms, but do excrete the virus in their feces, hence transmitting infection to others.
“Initial symptoms of polio include fever, fatigue, headache, vomiting, stiffness in the neck, and pain in the limbs. In a small proportion of cases, the disease causes paralysis, which is often permanent. Polio can only only be prevented by immunization.”
Syria, Nigeria and Afghanistan are examples of Bible teachings about the relationship between battlefields and the spreading of pestilence/diseases. In ‘Polio in Syria: An Outbreak that Threatens the Middle East,’ Tim Whewell reveals polio is now endemic in those countries:
“The Syrian government says it has continued to vaccinate across the country during the conflict––a claim disputed by many Syrian doctors and foreign health experts. They believe the regime withheld vaccine from clinics in the rebel-held north as another means of waging war on civilians.”
Whewell says the coming hot summer risks a spread of polio “across the Middle East from Syria––where now more than 100 children show symptoms of the disease.” He explains “The polio virus lives in water, contaminated food and sewage.” In poorest Syrian neighbors, raw sewage mixes with drinking water.
Further, in ‘World Facing Polio Health Emergency,’ the BBC writes: “Refugees are still pouring out of Syria, to Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey, and checking whether all of them have been vaccinated will be impossible. Hence, the disease will spread to these countries as well.
“Polio mainly affects children under five years old. The virus is transmitted through contaminated food and water, and multiplies in the intestine. It can then invade the nervous system, causing paralysis in one in every 200 infections. It is capable of causing death within hours.”
Does anyone remember the adage from Bible messages: “What mean ye, that ye use this proverb . . . saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children’s teeth are set on edge? (Ezekiel 18: 2)” More than a horror that five year old children must be sickened unto death, because certain evil ‘fathers’ insist that war is worth the destruction of clean water. Only prayer can stop such carnage!
All major news services report that the first U.S. MERS patient will leave the hospital in Munster, Indiana, soon. Officials have isolated all hospital personnel who came in contact with the victim, as well as his family, and those on the plane with him from Middle East, and on the bus from the airport to Indiana.
New information says he is an America citizen in his 60s, who nonetheless works as a health care worker at a hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Alan Kumar, chief medical information officer at Community Hospital in Munster told Tom Coyne of Associated Press:
“While the virus is not highly contagious, the hospital isolated at home 50 employees identified as having come in contact with the man before he was diagnosed. Also as a precaution, members of the man’s family have been told to stay home and wear masks if they leave.”
Indiana State Department of Health Commissioner William VanNess II tells Coyne that a MERS case in Indiana is “a scary situation.” He admitted that the medical community doesn’t know much about this virus.
Dr. Daniel Feikin, an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, reports officials have contacted some 75 of the 100 people on the plane to Chicago, but they still work to reach all the bus passengers.
Juan Perez Jr. and Andy Grimm of the Chicago Tribune adds more about precautions against MERS in place at the Community Hospital in Muster: “Roughly 50 hospital nurses, clerks, aides, dietary experts and other workers who came into contact with the patient before his infection was confirmed are on paid leave—isolated inside their homes as experts watch for signs of symptoms and test for infection during the virus’ known incubation period.”
Adding to the mystery as to why a U.S. citizen chooses to work in Riyadh, Perez and Grimm claim this MERS patient only came to the U.S. “for a planned visit,” and that he flew to London before landing in Chicago. But London officials have not disclosed what they are doing about passengers on that leg of the flight.
The medical team at ‘earth-end’ realizes there are still stories promised about other lethal diseases rushing to the forefront. But, in addition to updates on this and other possible MERS patients, news stories are exploding about massive growths of polio cases around the world. So the team will address them all soon.
Meanwhile, if you were in any of the locations discussed above, and/or have any flu-like symptoms, please see a doctor or hospital immediately. Remember, this onslaught of diseases is foretold many times in wholesale Christian Bibles as indicators that this generation is in the Earth’s last days:
Psalm 91: 6 refers to “the pestilence that walketh in darkness.” Jeremiah chapters 21, 24, 27, 29, 34, 38, 42 and 44, as well as Ezekiel 5 and 6, and Revelation 6 refer to this pestilence as accompanying times of war., famine and other types of destruction. Dictionary.com defines pestilence as “a deadly or virulent epidemic disease.”
In His New Testament prophecies, The LORD Jesus adds earthquakes and other natural disasters: “For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places (Matthew 24: 7);” and “great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven (Luke 21: 11).” These would include Global Warming! Time for Prayer!
