More Deadly Poisonous Beef Out of One California Packing Company

beef-supermarket    This week, sometimes absent federal regulators forced Rancho Feeding Corporation in Petaluma in Northern California to recall some 8.7 pounds of beef and veal––meats that could have “serious, adverse health consequences or death.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FIFS) established in a press release:  “the meat was not in any way suitable for human consumption.” This horrible crop of meat shipped in 20-60 pounds bags, in parts including beef carcasses, oxtail, liver, checks, tripe, tongue and veal bones.

Feds say the meats came from “diseased and unsound animals,” and the cuts “had not been properly inspected.”  Adriana Velez of the asks why the meat wasn’t inspected.  Where were the Feds?  Also she’s astonished, “that the meat came from multiple diseased and unsound animals, not just one.” explains the essence of a USDA Class 1 recall: “This is a health hazard situation where . . . . products being held in frozen storage are less likely to be rooted out of the food supply and may cause longer-term issues—it’s best to purge the beef sooner than later.” laments the issue as Rancho Feeding is “ the last USDA-certified beef processing plant in the Bay plantimageArea . . . [and] is in grave danger of being permanently shuttered.” This would force local ranchers to haul their animals several hours away greatly increasing their costs.

That site also points out that the government is at fault:  “. . . with a dearth of USDA inspectors this situation was almost inevitable. The USDA’s own 2013 report regarding pig processing states that “some inspectors performed insufficient post-mortem and sanitation inspections, its programs lacked sufficient oversight and the FSIS could not always ensure ‘humane handling’ at slaughter plants.

The meat was shipped in the first week of January to stores in California, Texas, Florida and Illinois and to unknown locations beyond.  Any consumer still having this mean should contact Rancho Feeding Corporation website.

The USDA/FSIS Web Site titled ‘Retail Consignees for FSIS Recall 013-2014’ lists stores in Napa, Novato, Oakland, Penngrove, Petaluma, San Rafael, Santa Rosa and Sonoma, California as some of the places receiving the recalled meat.  The Food and Drug Administration is also responsible for food inspections. also reveals: The Rancho recall began with 41,683 pounds in the middle of January, a figure that increased by 420 pounds a few days later, and then by 8.7 pounds of beef carcasses and organs by Friday. That figure reflects a year of meat processed between January 1, 2013 and January 7, 2014.

Heather Tooley of adds:  “Consumers should check for the establishment number “EST. 527” contained inside the USDA mark of inspection. These include beef carcasses and any boxes with that number listed. The report added that each box also has the case code number ending in ‘3’ or ‘4.’

How can the government justify so few inspectors?  As Christian calendars illustrate, food is God’s provision for man: “He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man: that he may bring forth food out of the earth  (Psalm 104: 14).”  Men who produce bad food and governments that don’t protect their people thus work against God’s program and become His enemies.
