OK! Ready for More Whacky Weather This Winter?

September 11, 2012

Well!!! Fall and Winter weather is off and running:  Tornadoes in New York and killer winds in Oklahoma.  Now forecasters say the East Coast of the U.S. will have a whopping cold winter full of snow, the South will be wet and chilly, and the Northeast will be dry and cold.  The rest of the country will be rather ‘normal.’

This weekend two tornadoes hit New York City, tearing down power lines, hurling debris, damaging homes and trees––at speeds as high as 110 miles an hour.  Associated Press says the first tornado “. . . first hit a beachfront neighborhood and the second, stronger tornado followed moments later about 10 miles away.”

While New Yorkers were saying that this is the kind of thing that usually comes to mid-Western states, they must not have known that the day before four people––including an infant child––were killed by severely strong wind and thunder storms blowing through northeast Oklahoma.

Three of the victims were in a mobile home in Nowata County which sits on Oklahoma’s border with Kansas.  The fourth was in a semi-trailer truck that straight-line winds flipped over and smashed into a cement wall.  The 70-year-old driver died from injuries after Highway Patrolmen freed him from the wreckage.

Again, the winds knocked out power and damaged properties and trees.  the winds were like tornadoes.  They started uncontrollable ground fires which demanded evacuation of four families, and caused some 18,000 power outages.

Weather scientists and Farmer’s Almanac agree that the New York region will get more strange weather.  United Press International quotes meteorologists at State College, Pennsylvania:  “After a 2011-2012 winter that saw little snow, the mid-Atlantic and southern New England states will get a snow dump this winter.”

Moreover, AccuWeather.com reports:  “Above-normal snowfall during winter 2012-2013 is forecast for the major I-95 cities including New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington.”

AccuWeather spokesman, Paul Pastelok, adds:  “The I-95 cities could get hit pretty good.  It’s a matter of getting the cold to phase in with the huge systems that we are going to see coming out of the southern branch of the jet stream this year.”

Caleb Weatherbee of Farmer’s Almanac agrees:  “The eastern half of the country will see plenty of cold and snow. The western half will experience relatively warm and dry condition.”  Also he gives the mid-west some good news:  “For much of the drought-stricken prairie region, an average amount of winter precipitation will bring long awaited relief.”

However, in Bible prophecies, The LORD Jesus Christ doesn’t think much of forecasting weather.  He says we should instead understand the times we live in:  “. . . It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. . . ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times (Matthew 16: 3)?”

Conference Assignment: Global Warming Diseases Caused by Insects

posted by Dr. Ad Versery Bored @ 17:44 PM
September 10, 2012

Memo to Ambularie and Butterman:  Thanks gang for covering me, while I got a little rest.  I just received an urgent memo from Jael.  For one of our panels, she wants us to speak on ‘Global Warming Diseases Caused by Insects.’

Frank your Scripture about insect-carrying diseases Egypt, may have given her the idea.  She wants us research the connections between extremely hot weather temperatures and emerging diseases in the U.S. and around the world.

Jael sent me a list of some 30 hot weather diseases caused by insects, some of which are already in this country, and others which are coming quickly because of extremely hot summer weather, and to a lesser extent new immigrants.

The nation is now undergoing an epidemic of West Nile Virus which comes from mosquito bites.  But consider the types of encephalitis also coming from mosquito bites:  Arboviral, Eastern equine, Japanese, La Crosse, St. Louis, West Nine, Western equine.  In addition, those pesky insects can inject infections for Pogosta Disease, Dengue Fever, Rift Valley Fever, Yellow Fever and Malaria.

Then Jael lists some of the diseases caused by ticks: also types of encephalitis, along with Lyme Disease, Rickettsial diseases, African tick-bite fever, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic Fever, Boutonneuse Fever, Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis, Relapsing Fever, Tularemia, etc.

And then there are what I call the ‘oddies:’  sandflies, kissing bugs, fleas, lice, tsetse flies, African ticks, assassin bugs, deer flies, and again, etc.  So far, this year 2,000 to 3,000 Americans are either sick or have died from diseases caused by this insects.  We must warn the public about risks and dangers from them.

I know, I know.  I can imagine you two starring at me with your mouths open.  Well, she wants us to:  1) Find which of these insects, and the diseases they bring, can be linked to Global Warming; 2) Find out which ones are growing in the U.S.; and 3) Project which ones will be coming here as temperatures increase.

Here are more verses about insects and illness from wholesale Christian Bibles:  “Else, if thou wilt not let my people go, behold, I will send swarms of flies upon thee, and upon thy servants, and upon thy people, and into thy houses: and the houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they are. . . . And the LORD did so; and there came a grievous swarm of flies into the house of Pharaoh, and into his servants’ houses, and into all the land of Egypt: the land was corrupted by reason of the swarm of flies (Exodus 8: 21, 24).”  Hmmm ‘corrupted’ land.

Oh, I forgot an important one:  “And I will sever in that day the land of Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I Am The LORD in the midst of the earth (Exodus 8: 22).”  We must pray for God’s mercy over our nation that He would drive these diseased insects out of our land.

World-wide Outbreak of Seasonal and New Diseases, Part 2

posted by Maleekie Ambularie @ 22:38 PM
September 9, 2012

Maleekie Ambularie:  The high number of seasonal, old and new diseases attacking people overseas demand more research than I could handle alone.  So Frank Butterman joins me again.  First, a briefing on increasing AIDS cases.

Reporting for Inter Press Service in, ‘AIDS Spreading Fast Across Europe,’ Pavol Stracansky writes: “Punitive drug policies, discrimination and problems with access to medicines and important therapy are all driving an epidemic which is unlikely to be contained, world experts say, until governments in countries with the worst problems change key policies and approaches to the disease [HIV-AIDS].

Daniel Wolfe of Open Society Foundations tells Stracansky: “In most post-Soviet countries, where HIV remains concentrated among injecting drug users, harsh policies and discrimination in healthcare settings continue to cripple the AIDS response.”  Thus, known cases are not treated and this disease spread further.

The World Health Organization adds:  “ . . . while HIV infection rates are falling, Eastern Europe and Central Asia is seeing the reverse.  New infections have risen 22 percent . . . since 2005, and there is no sign of a slowdown.”

Frank Butterman: Well, I see you will need a full blog on this subject Maleekie.   The same can be said about emerging cases of Untreatable TB, Hepatic C––overseas and in the U.S.––new ‘Heartland’ Tick Virus, Cholera, sick water, etc.

Well, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) advises all ‘Baby Boomers’––i.e. those born between 1945 and 1965––to get blood tests for the Hepatitis C virus.  Some 2 million Americans may be infected.

Steven Reinberg of HealthDay warns:  “One in 30 Baby Boomers is infected with the virus and most don’t know it.  [They] are five times more likely to have hepatitis C than other adult Americans ”  Dr. Thomas Frieden, CDC Director, tells journalists:  “. . . deaths from hepatitis C have nearly doubled over the past decade.  Unless we take action now, deaths will increase substantially in the coming years.”

Of course it doesn’t help that we have this nut case, David Kwiatkowski, working as a lab technician in several states so he could deliberately inject hospital patients with his own infection of Hepatitis C using stolen syringes.

ABC News Chief Health and Medical Editor says:  “If he knew that he was infected and he put those needles back on the shelf, that is the definition of evil. Anyone who was in those hospitals when he was working there is potentially at risk. We’re talking tens of thousands of people.” Now all hospital where Kwiatkowski worked is trying to test every patient that was interned there during his employment.  More on these diseases in the next blog.

Our division of medicine and food health agrees with other Jael writers who reveal strong indications about the end of time.  The avalanche of insects attacking people with illnesses across the globe is revealing.  Used Christian books explore the implications of Psalms 78: 45: “He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured [i.e. bit] . . . destroyed them.”

Update on Summer Disease Outbreaks in Our Nation

posted by Maleekie Ambularie @ 13:43 PM
September 7, 2012

Maleekie Ambularie:  Dr. Ad Versery is resting a few days before we begin work on Jael’s Global Warming conference.  Blogging on diseases breaking out have sapped doc’s strength.  Today, Frank Butterman and I will pinch hit for him.

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) agreed with what Dr. Ad Versery has been saying for weeks.  Catherine Tsai of the Associated Press reveals CDC officials “acknowledged that a series of frightening illnesses linked to insects and pests have been surfacing lately across the country, including mosquito-borne West Nile virus outbreaks in Texas and other states, deadly hantavirus cases linked to Yosemite National Park, and some scattered plague cases.”

Frank: Thanks Maleekie.  At last they admit that Global Warming is deeply affecting the health of the American people. First an update on the Bubonic Plague, known as the Black Death.  Unfortunately, the latest victim of this hot-summer disease is a 7 year-old girl, Sierra Jane Downing, in Pagosa Springs, Colorado.

They flew Sierra to Denver’s Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children where Dr. Jennifer Snow suspected the plague and she, and Dr. Wendi Drummond, treated the girl for that specific disease––and thereby saved her life.

Maleekie:  Yes Frank.  And thank God she––and as far as we know––and other Americans afflicted with the Plague are living through it.  But victims of West Nine virus have not been as fortunate.  This week the death rate from that virus is up another 32 percent.  As of yesterday, there were 1,993 cases of West Nile now in the U.S. and 87 people had died from the disease.

Even worse 1,069 or 54 percent of these West Nile virus cases cases are the severe neuroinvasive form that can lead to meningitis and encephalitis.

Frank:  Also Reuters announced that U.S. health officials are now sending notices to some 39 countries about the possibilities of hantavirus infection in those staying in Yosemite Park.  It is still within the time frame for symptoms to appear.

Maleekie: The safe thing to do is for any of those who visited the park this summer to get lab tested immediately, whether they feel symptoms or not.  And Frank, have you heard that Legionnaires’ disease is back.  So far 11 victims in Quebec, Canada––of the 169 ill so far––have died.

This disease––which brews through infected droplets in air conditioning systems, swimming pools, water fountains and home and business water systems–– has also come to Chicago.  Officials there say this outbreak has killed three.  And CBS News in Chicago says that at least five more are ill from Legionnaires.’

Frank:  Well, we haven’t talked about the coming incurable TB, but maybe you can cover that Maleekie when you cover other diseases rising across the globe.

Maleekie:  Yes I will.  As the Book of Revelation instructs, let us all ask for God’s forgiveness and healing:  “And when He had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before The Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints (5: 8).”

Thousands at Risk from Hantavirus Death Caught At Yosemite Park

posted by Dr. Ad Versery Bored @ 7:00 AM
September 5, 2012

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is fearful that some 10,000 people have been exposed to the deadly rodent-borne hantavirus pulmonary syndrome (HPS) through camping at Yosemite National Park in California.  This week two people died and four others are ill from HPS at the Yosemite outbreak.

The CDC urges those who stayed at that park’s facilities to be tested immediately.  “An estimated 10,000 persons stayed in the ‘Signature Tent Cabins’ from June 10 through August 24, 2012.  People who stayed in the tents between June 10 and August 24 may be at risk of developing HPS in the next 6 weeks.”

Extinction Protocol  and Reuters News Service reveal:  “Hantavirus is carried in rodent feces, urine and saliva, which dries out and mixes with dust that can be inhaled by humans, especially in small, confined spaces with poor ventilation.  People can also be infected by eating contaminated food, touching contaminated surfaces or being bitten by infected rodents.

“The virus starts out causing flu-like symptoms, including headache, fever, muscle ache, shortness of breath and cough. Initial symptoms may appear up to six weeks after exposure and can lead to severe breathing difficulties and death.”

californiawatch.org says that state health officials told authorities at the State Park to warn campers about the dangers of this virus in camp tents.  “Yet park officials did not warn visitors until after the disease showed up in recent weeks.”

This association of journalists also writes:  “In a 2010 risk assessment document, state inspectors explicitly asked Yosemite officials to educate those staying in the tent cabins linked to the hantavirus cases about the fatal disease.” The risk assessment was “after a 54-year-old park visitor fell ill with hantavirus in 2010 after staying in the type of tent cabin inhabited by the 2012 victims.”

Yet, Capt. Charles Higgins, Director of Public Health for the National Park Service, says there is no warning about this vector-borne disease because its low risk:  “That’s always a dilemma because people have message fatigue.  Their eyes glaze over, they quit paying attention to messaging.”

According to the California Department of Public Health, since 1993, there have been 60 cases of Hantavirus in California and 587 cases in the United States.  Buildings that have been inhabited by mice during winter months are especially dangerous for workers, who should be protected by masks when entering.

Dr. Giorgio Cosentino, who is a friend of one of the deceased victims who was also a doctor, says Park authorities should have warned visitors of the risk, even if low, so “they can get to a hospital sooner,” with better chances of survival.

What a pity!  A man devoted to medical practice losses his life because health workers feared “message fatigue.”  In online Bible lessons, 2 Kings 1: 14 tells of a soldier asking Elijah, “ . . . let my life now be precious in thy sight.”  Workers in these outdoor camps should have more respect for human life.

Global Warming’s Hot Weather and the Plague of Black Death

posted by Dr. Ad Versery Bored @ 9:11 AM
September 4, 2012

Hotter weather is bringing our country a sharp rise of new deadly diseases.  While blogging about West Nile Virus, Swine Flu, and Whooping Cough, and the affects of Global Warming on other new diseases––i.e. bat Hendra Virus, Heartland Virus tick virus, a virtually untreatable strain of tuberculosis, etc.––our team was shocked to also find rising cases of the Plague or Black Death.

Recently victims of the Plague have been found in Oregon, New Mexico, California and Florida.  In this century, the Plague has also hit citizens in New York, Hawaii, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Illinois, etc.  In 2009, during an outbreak of plague in New Mexico, three people died, including an 8-year-old child.

Extinction Protocol issued a report this summer confirming that “About 11 cases of plague a year have occurred in the United States since 1976, with most cases found in New Mexico.  Plague has also been reported in a handful of other states.”  However, the U.S. Centre for Disease Control and Prevention report 10 to 15 cases of Plague each year in the United States.

This year, the best known case is in Oregon where a 50 year-old man caught the disease by trying to wrestle a dying mouse from a stray cat’s mouth.  Other well known cases in 2012 are in upper income areas of New Mexico.  And in Florida a drunk man begging to be arrested was also found to have the Plague.

Anna Schotthoefer, lead researcher at the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation advises:  “The shift . . . to more affluent regions of New Mexico . . . suggests that homeowners . . . should be educated about the risks of plague.”

In ‘CBRNE-Plague’ for Medscape.com, Dr. Susan E Dufel, M.D. , et al conclude:  “. . . multiple outbreaks during the last 20 years have stoked fears of another global pandemic.  One reason may be . . . Global Warming. This change is ideal for increasing . . . Ypestis [i.e. Plague] . . . more than 50% increase in the plague . . .with an increase of 1 degree Centigrade of the temperature.”

themiddleages.net says Black death is a summer time disease, abating in cold weather:  “In winter the disease seemed to disappear, but only because fleas–which were helping to carry it from person to person–are dormant then.”

Federal health officials are reluctant to report cases of Plague in the United States.  While they demand all cases of Black Death be immediately reported to them, files then seem to be kept secret.  As with non-disclosure of actual numbers of whooping cough cases, the truth about the Black Death Plague is anecdotal.

If the United States is ever to get serious about attacking Global Warming, we must face up to the dangers that these overwhelming temperatures pose for public health.  Only then will citizens be forced to cope with imposed modern life styles.  Jesus tell us: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free (John 8: 32).  Print this message on wholesale Christian T-shirts so that our leaders start freeing us from Global Warming.
