While the world is not looking, and few advocates are screaming out about it, several animal families are quickly slipping into extinction. And while too many fein ignorance, mankind is undoubtedly at fault. That includes every species of frogs and other amphibians, turtles, vultures, elephants and rhinos.
Nature magazine just published a new study entitled, “Predicting future threats for global amphibian biodiversity.” It concludes that the areas were most amphibians live are the areas subject to the greatest threat. Two of the three major factors––climate change and land-use change––are made-made. And the third factor, fungal disease, may be related as well.
SPX Market Watch reports this week: “Amphibian populations are declining worldwide, and their declines far exceed those of other animal groups: more than 30% of all species are listed as threatened according to the Red List of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).”
One of the researchers, Carsten Rahbek from the University of Copenhagen, states further, “Our assessment shows that amphibian declines are likely to accelerate over the next decades, as multiple drivers of extinction could jeopardize their populations more than previous, mono-causal, assessments have suggested.”
Natives of Bangladesh slaughter millions of turtles or the Kindu Kaili Puja festival. Wildlifeextra.com explains, “ The Hindu religion is not linked to eating turtles but somehow it has become a tradition . . . every Hindu wants to eat turtles on this particular day as it is considered an auspicious or ‘holy’ day, in much the same way that turkeys are eaten on Christmas. Several hundred thousand turtles are slaughtered every year all during Kali Puja.” Prices for turtles range from $ 5.00 to $ 300 per kilogram, depending on the delicacy of the species.
As for vultures, they are being poisoned by the thousands from residues of an anti-inflammatory pesticide drug (diclofenac) when they eat the carcasses of cattle and other livestock. In their book “Wildlife,” Lindsay Oaks and Richard Watson attest, “The failure to effectively control carcass contamination by diclofenac will likely lead to extinction of these magnificent birds which, through their scavenger role, have controlled the spread of infectious disease for millennia, as well as provided other important ecological services.”
As for rhinos, Hong Kong officials seized 33 rhino horns, 758 ivory chopsticks and 127 ivory bracelets coming in from South Africa. Each item representing some dead animal. As of this week, no arrest have been made.
These absurd destructions must stop! Bible prophecies make clear that God’s judgment awaits such unnecessary cruelty: “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Timothy 2: 19).”
Humrppp!! So much news about nuclear energy whirls around the world these days, it’s like jumping on a fast-moving merry-go-round to choose what to highlight first: Where and how to store the waste; how to clean up from Japan’s accident; how to deny affects of radiation; to have or not to have Nuke at all.
Because of the continuing fallout from Japan’s disaster, Germany and Belgium work to eliminate dependency on nuclear energy. But French officials and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) insists that this volatile energy is absolutely necessary in the modern world. Others in Asia and eastern Europe agree with that assessment and they clamor for the stuff.
Yet, even as IAEA and others tout nuclear “safety,” excessive radioactive iodine-131 now floats over Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and Poland. Still, while Poland admits that abnormal counts were “100 times higher” after Japan’s Fukushima accident, that country still plans to build its own nuclear power plant.
Continuing in its assumed position as nuclear power cheerleader, rather than protector of public safety, IAEA argues that only nuclear power can thwart Global Warming, as declines in nuclear power will increase global demands for coal and gas, thus driving up carbon pollution. “Growth, prosperity and rising population will inevitably push up energy needs over the coming decades,” they add.
But, of course, they don’t discuss the continuing disarray of nuclear fallout in Japan were almost 16,000 are known dead and some 4,000 more are listed as “missing,” not to mention the almost 90,000 still living in shelters without homes. That nation’s citizens are concerned about their health, the “safety” of their food and water, and what radiation illnesses will attack them in years to come.
Japan has banned rice produced near the Fukushima power plant because “samples showed radioactive contamination well above legal limits.” Japanese citizens have stocked up supplies of rice, their basic staple, from other countries because they fear that grown at home. Moreover, ABC.net reports that thousands of Japanese had to abandon their homes, businesses and belongings, because parts of Japan are “uninhabitable zones” after the Fukushima nuclear plant breakdown.
As if they are stating a “good” thing, Japanese officials insists that “Up to 80 percent of the cesium released by the Fukushima Daiichi power plant landed in the Pacific and made its way into other oceans around the world . . . [and pollution] was well below levels affecting humans.” But what about the fish humans eat?
Nuclear power is a gamble, with nuclear proponents willingly risking human lives. Bible prophecies charge: “Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God (Psalm 53: 4).” No amount of profit is worth risking God’s judgment for facilitating death!
HURRY! HURRY! GET YOUR LATEST NEWS HERE! Ahoy there matees and all the ships at sea!! How’d you like that? Our group, the Newspaper Boys and Girls, Intl., (NBGI) now has members in Australia, way across the sea! Editor-in-chief, Jael Ever, has commanded all journalists to prepare assessments of 2011 in every area, and also to make forecast for 2012. So let’s get to it!
First, Ida B. Wells, IV will explore this year’s melt-down of the “euro” as the financial currency of Europe, and the relationship of that collapse to the Arab Spring that has swept through the Middle East. Working with our teacher, Rev. Dr. Sandra Repriestly, Ida explains how these events foretell the end of the present Christian age, the rise of the anti-Christ, and the upheavals to take place in 2012.
And Ally I. Feermeno will continue her series on nuclear power, radiation fallout around the globe in 2011, nations opting out of nuclear energy, and other nations clamoring to bring this disaster to their shores. Like Ida, she will work with Dr. Repriestly to explain how war and energy nukes will soon be part of the destruction to two-thirds of the human race, as forecast in Bible prophecy.
Similarly, Dr. Ad Versery Bored and Maleekie Ambularie will summarize the rise and combinations of new and old diseases and their death tolls in 2011. They will also predict news on the health front in 2012, particularly concerning insects. As predicted in Bible prophecies, these vermin will have hugh impacts on health.
As she wrote on the 18th of this month, Wendy Weathersbee joins with other weather experts who insist that Global Warming will be far worse in 2012. It will have particular affect on drought stricken areas in the U.S. and other nations.
Wendy will also support Sarah Newsworthy’s work on continuing violent earthquakes and volcanoes to explain that these disruptions are far from normal.
Gathering data from the news bureau, Extinction Protocol 2012.com, both women will work with Dr. Repriestly to explore the relationship between events in nature, finance, politics and Global Warming and their portents on human survival.
Jael is still look for a solar scientist to report on the rapidly strange activity on the sun. She wants to coordinate scientific efforts with coming events in culture, including 2012 as the year of Mexico’s Quetzalcoatl, China’s year of the Dragon, the Mayan 2012 prophecy, and how these and other secular prophecies coordinate with what the Bible says about the end of time as we know it.
More than ever, our readers will need guidance from John, Jude and the gang on practical tips for survival, as well as their prayers that our readers and reporters stay safe and sound! Be sure to pray with them. NBGI members beg readers to remember what Apostle Peter says: “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer (1 Peter 4: 7).” And, hang on! The year 2012 is going to be a bumpy ride indeed!
Forget what the politicians say about a depressed economy. Retailers expect the highest after Thanksgiving and Christmas season sells this season than they have had in years. They are cautiously optimistic and upbeat!
According to the Retail Council of New York, retailers said, “In keeping with their concerns about the economy, 49 percent of survey participants believe the biggest deciding factor for their customers when selecting gifts will be price. This is followed by 27 percent of retailers who believe good quality merchandise is a deciding factor, and 17 percent who say shoppers will be buying practical gifts.” So stores are preparing to lower prices on quality practical goods.
Shop owners also said that they will purchase the same or more inventory than last year and will probably hire additional people for Christmas as well. Stores will hold Black Friday sales earlier, and on-line sellers expect to break records too.
Gas prices are lower than last year to accommodate shoppers, and many stores will hold longer hours, and open on Thanksgiving Day as well. They believe that only thing that could interfere with great holiday sales is the weather!
In other Good News, the 15th of this month was ‘America Recycles Day.’ A nonprofit research group, Tellus Institute, issued a report titled, “Less Pollution, More Jobs” which is said to prove that “increasing the nation’s recycling rate from 33% to 75% by 2030 would reduce pollution and create an extra 1.5 million jobs.”
Associated Press reporter Joy Lewis says the “report finds that waste diversion, unlike disposal, is more labor intensive and thus 85 % of the new jobs result from collecting, processing, and composting trash as well as making new products with recycled materials. It says a 75% recycling or diversion rate would generate 2.3 million jobs by 2030––1.1 million more jobs than would occur if the United States kept on it current recycling pace . . .”
The report says that if this recycling program were to be initiated, “carbon dioxide emissions would fall 276 million metric tons by 2030 — equivalent to taking 50 million cars off the road.” The study was prepared for the Blue Green Alliance, SEIU (Service Employees International Union), the Natural Resources Defense Council, Teamsters, Recycling Works!, and the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives.
The Thanksgiving and Christmas season is also the time to prepare for God. Just as the blessed couple prepared for the miraculous birth, people must prepare for Him in their hearts and for His return to earth. As wholesale Christian Bibles state, “If ye do return unto The LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods . . . and prepare your hearts unto The LORD and serve Him only: He will deliver you. . . (1 Samuel 7: 3).” Let’s keep that Word in mind this season!
Newspaper Boys and Girls, Intl.: Dr. Jael asked us to start today by wishing all of our Good Blog Customers A Very Happy Thanksgiving! It has been our pleasure to deliver these vitally important blogs from our writing staff everyday.
John, Jude and Their Gang: Right on Boys and Girls. Ya’lls hes seys da truths. Its been ours pleasures da tells da peoples ‘bout givins ‘en winter paredness, ‘en to gits folks en churches da holds prayen’ meets for ya’ll readers. So’s Happy Thanksgiving Day da alls. En’ keeps ‘memoring da pray!
Dr. Ad Versery Bored: Well, I’m new to the crew. But I do want to thank John, Jude and all their prayer partners for the prayer support they give to the health care industry. And I thank those readers who have welcomed my blogs, as well as Jael, for inviting to join the group, and my writing partner on some articles, Maleekie Ambularie. So Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! And good health to all!
Wendy Weathersbee: Hold on Doc! I’m new too. And I just want to thank Jael and all the crew for the bountiful blessing of joining the truth-tellers, and to say Happy Thanksgiving and safe winter weather to everyone!
Maleekie Ambularie: Thank you Dr. Bored for those gracious remarks. I too am grateful for the opportunity to tell what is happening to poorer people around the world. It is necessary to tell the truth about these diseases circling the globe. It is truly a time for families to draw closer to each other and closer to God!
Ally I. Feermeno: You tell ‘em gang. If they knew what I know about nuclear power, they would indeed use this Thanksgiving Day to thank God for our blessed safety. Thank Him for every person around the table, for every neighbor, and for our great nation! If there were ever a time that we need God, it is now!
Sarah N. Worthy: Yes Ally, and to thank Him for seeing out nation through all the hurricanes, tornadoes, floods and other malaise that has come our way this year. Thanksgiving is truly a time for all of us to pray for one another.
Ida Mae Wells: Amen to that Sarah. And don’t forget those kids struggling for the right on Occupy Wall Street. This Thanksgiving let’s believe Our God for changes giving these young people a chance for good jobs and restored homes.
Sandra Repriestly: As President of the International Association of Truth Telling Women Journalist, International, to which you all are a part, let me thank God for you, for our readers and for Jael. No matter how it may look, our country is still the greatest place on earth and we must thank God for that this holiday!
Jael: And everyone, let us not forget to thank God for guiding us to I.E. Plexus, and to our webmaster, Taryn, who works there. There is no greater place on the internet to place blog messages and internet stores. Remember what King David says in wholesale Christian Bibles: “Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD” (Psalm 150: 6). Happy Thanksgiving to All!
Mexican officials claim that some 50,000 wild boars sneak over the dividing line from the United States during the day to trample over south-of-the border farm lands and then return to the U.S. at night. And they plan to ‘trap and kill’ them all!
They posit that these treacherous animals, lately from Presidio County, Texas, now destroy some 3,700 acres in the town of Ojinaga near the Texas border. “We must get rid of these European wild boars because they sleep overnight on U.S. soil during the day and cross over to the Mexican side to feed,” says Ignacio Legarreta, a Mexican state official, without explaining how they estimate 50,000.
Their plan for killing these intruding pigs is to ‘trap’ them into cages, and then kill them, one by one, until the region has 50,000 less pigs. Those who have been trying to ‘trap and kill’ these aggressively huge animals across Florida, Texas and all the U.S., double-over in amusement at such an “impossible” scheme.
On uppitywoman08, ProundMilitaryMom turned the tables on Mexico. She says that these hefty pigs are not ‘wild.’ “They are undocumented. Has the American economy gotten so bad even our pigs are leaving?”
“I am appalled at this gross injustice to immigrants! These hogs are not criminals, and are only trying to better themselves. How dare the unfeeling Mexican government propose such draconian schemes to enforce their borders,”
this Mom muses. Again, does anyone know how the number 50,000 was attained?
Further turning the table on the same Mexican officials who take the U.S. to task for the way that this country’s justice system treats illegal immigrants from Mexico, she laughs: “Perhaps the hogs could get green cards to go over to Mexico to feed, then return to the US. They should also expect free education, health care, and food stamps if they decide to stay in Mexico . . legally or not.”
All joking aside, as Earth-End has been raising alarm for years, these pigs are threats to public health and safety. PBS.org explains, “Wild boars are vectors of several serious diseases, including pseudorabies, . . . swine brucellosis, which can be fatal in people; and trichinosis, a food-borne disease caused by a parasitic worm that lodges in the animal’s muscle tissue.” These pigs are dangerous stuff!
Whether in the U.S. or Mexico, PBS states, “The disease may be passed to humans who consume infected, undercooked meat and can be fatal if not treated. As the feral hog population continues to breed with escaped domestic stock, their genetic diversity continues to widen.” Even if mixed breed, pig diseases transfer.
Of course, wholesale Christian Bibles discourages believers from eating any pig or swine, whether wild or not: “And the swine . . . is unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh . . . (Deuteronomy 14: 8).” And The LORD Jesus symbolically denigrated such ‘food‘ by sending 3,000 pigs to drown in the sea (Matthew 8: 32). So whatever they eat or drink, Christians must continue to pray!
The slaughter of rhinos for the purpose of selling their horns on an illegal market for enhancement of sexual pleasures has gone high-tech. Systematized killing of these helpless animals not only drives them to extinction, it illustrates the helplessness of international diplomacy and law enforcement to stop one tiny nation from lusting after horns of animals made helpless by modern technology.
In order to meet the shocking demand for these horns in Vietnam, at a rate of almost one a day, more rhinos were killed in South Africa in the first 10 months of this year, than the 333 that were poached in all of 2010.
South African authorities arrested some 214 rhino poachers between April 2010 and March of this year, and another 16 were killed during battles with wildlife officials in the same time period. But poachers are willing to even risk death to obtain the bounty some in Asia are willing to pay for these animal horns.
In order to avoid armies of military and police units, criminal networks use highly sophisticated technology, deploying helicopters, night-vision scopes, tranquilizers and silencing drugs to hunt down and kill these animals after dark.
Dr. Joseph Okori, African Rhino Program Manager for the World Wildlife Federation, argues: “This is not typical poaching. The criminal syndicates operating in South Africa are highly organized and use advanced technologies. They are very well organized.” Apparently, the hacked-off horns of suffering and dying rhinos fetch hundreds of thousands of dollars on illegal Asian markets.
Wildlife experts already lament that the black rhinoceros is now extinct. But every other species of the animal is also under attack. In the last 12 years, poachers have killed a thousand rhinos in South Africa, which has the largest population of these animals in the world.
According to AFP International News, “Central Africa’s northern white rhino (Ceratotherium simum cottoni) is listed as ‘possibly extinct in the wild,’ while the Javan rhino (Rhinoceros sondaicus) is making a last stand after the remaining specimen of its Vietnamese counterpart was killed by poachers last year.”
In addition to supposed sexual enhancement that rhinoceros horns are said to possess, Vietnam and other Asian apothecaries claim the horns have cancer-curing properties––although no scientific medical evidence supports these claims. Other countries in the Middle East crave the horns for making dagger handles.
As Simon Stuart of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature laments, “Human beings are stewards of the earth and we are responsible for protecting the species that share our environment.” Bible prophecies make clear that such heinous drives to kill for money satiates evil: “For the love of money is the root of all evil:. . .1 Timothy 6: 10).” To destroy what God creates is Satan’s main ambition! But if man does not protect that creation, only judgment awaits!
Consensus from Nobel Prize-winning weather experts around the world is that dangerous “whacky,” weather is going to get unprecedentedly worse, and that world governments must prepare better for coming horrific weather onslaughts.
At this week’s meeting of the 194-nation Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) in Kampala, Uganda, renown climate scientists and disaster authorities admit that rising temperatures from Global Warming will be accompanied with increasingly dire extreme weather cascading upon the Earth.
The AFP International News Agency summarizes IPCC’s 20-page summary on climate change as: “Southern Europe will be gripped by fierce heat-waves, drought in North Africa will be more common, and small island states face ruinous storm surges from rising seas. . . cyclones, heat waves, diluvian rains, drought will hit the world unevenly. . . human settlement in some areas could be wiped out.”
Maarten van Aalst, Director of the International Red Cross/Red Crescent Climate Centre in the Netherlands, told Set Borenstein of the Associated Press, “We need to be worried. Risk has already increased dramatically. And our response needs to anticipate disasters and reduce risk before they happen rather than wait until after they happen and clean up afterward.”
Geoscientist Michael Oppenheimer from Princeton University told Borenstein, “Global warming is increasing the risk of disaster and already makes dealing with several types of disaster, like heat waves, more difficult. The risk will become greater as the future gets hotter. Governments are not doing a good job now protecting us from disaster in the current climate.”
The full 800 page IPCC report includes observations that: 1) Western Europe is at risk from more frequent heat waves, in particular along the Mediterranean rim, causing deaths exceeding the 70,000 in 2003; 2) The United States and the Caribbean will face hurricanes amplified by heavier rainfall and increased wind speeds; 3) Greater population density in exposed areas, rising property values, and inadequate infrastructure all mean greater vulnerability; 4)Rising sea levels, eroding shorelines, and poisonous aquifers will destroy living areas and farm lands; 5) Some areas will have to be permanently evacuated, even cities in developed regions of the world, such as Canada, Russia and Greenland, might have to move because of weather extremes and rising sea levels.
Our Bible teacher, Rev. Repriestly, President of the International Association of Truth-Telling Women Journalists, always points to the many Bible prophecies about Global Warming, such as: “. . . what meaneth the heat of this great anger . . . devoured with burning heat” (Deuteronomy 29:24; 32: 24); “. . . men were scorched with great heat (Revelation 16: 9),” etc. that all IATTWJ members well-understand that if there ever was a time to pray––this is it!
Jael has asked me to write a blog about the more than $ 14 billion dollars Global Warming has added to health costs in the United States. Researchers now reveal that expenditures for medical attention have not been included in national estimates of property damages and insurance costs stemming from the many hurricanes, wild fires, floods, air pollutions, heat waves, etc. and resulting diseases.
Health Affairs Journal has published an urgently important article, “Six Climate Change–Related Events In The United States Accounted For About $14 Billion In Lost Lives And Health Costs.” Five scientists reviewing annual medical costs, prove that losses from Global Warming are grossly underestimated.
Dr. Kim Knowlton of Columbia University, Senior Scientist for the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC) and spokesperson for this study, states: “Right now, there’s a gaping hole in our understanding of the health-related costs of climate change. This report begins the work to fill that void. Only by having a clear sense of health impacts and their costs, can we work to reduce them.”
Researchers estimate that in almost a decade there have been some 1,700 premature deaths, nine thousand hospitalizations, 21,000 emergency room visits and at least seven hundred thousand outpatient visits, totaling three-quarters of a million health care encounters in this country initiated by Global Warming.
Knowlton adds: “These numbers are big, and it’s important that we begin to think about and address these health costs and what climate change is likely to mean for people’s health.” She could say as well, “for their life expectancy.”
An additional problem is that the government does not keep accurate account of mounting health care costs coming from climate change. Because only 13 states now include public health measures in their Global Warming adaptation plans, Congresswoman Lois Capps (D-CA) has proposed the Climate Change Health Protection and Promotion Act. It would require the government to design national reporting mechanisms as health care workers respond to climate change disasters.
In 2008, NRDC commissioned a report concluding that non-medical costs in all parts of the world from Global Warming would total some $ 1.9 trillion dollars by the end of the century. British economist Nicholas Stern says that it could be as much as five percent of the $ 63 trillion gross national product of all nations.
Of course Jael has given my name as an alias. But the doctors in our families working around the globe know that the tremendous health care costs caused by Global Warming is not a joke. We, as Christian medical personnel, are well aware of Bible prophecies which explain that for some ailments there are no healing medicines (Jeremiah 30: 13), and when that time comes the End-Time Judgments foreseen in the Book of Revelations are at hand.
In addition to Dengue Fever which we discussed yesterday, severalvother diseases swirling around the earth today are transferred by insects. These include Chagas, Sleeping Sickness, Encephalitis, Itching Disease, and Malaria. Modern migration patterns make news about insect infections vital for the United States.
We mentioned malaria yesterday, but we ran out of space and time before going into detail. An article titled, “Analysis Reveals Malaria as Ancient, Adaptive and Persistent Foe,” says that researchers at Ohio State University verify that malaria has been on earth for some 15 million years ago. Known as the culicine mosquito, a type of Plasmodium malaria infected birds unknown eons ago.
A report published in American Entomologist, outlines the presence of several human diseases–including malaria, leishmaniasis and trypanosomiasis–as existing for 100 million years, suggesting that they will not be easily defeated.
Another sickness coming from mosquito bites is Encephalitis. The BBC says that this year some 400 victims, mainly children, have died in an outbreak of viral Encephalitis in northern India. A doctor told the BBC, this is a “tragedy beyond imagination.” Since the first case in 1978, this disease has killed some 6,000 children. It comes generally during monsoon flooding when a lack of sanitation and contaminated water provides breeding ground for mosquitoes.
Predominately found in Latin America, Chagas is spread by an insect known as the kissing bug, because it feeds on the face of its sleeping victim. When the victim awakes, it rubs feces from the bite into eyes, mouth, etc., and the parasite then enters the bloodstream. Chagas can also spread through blood transfusions, organ transplants or contaminated food.
Medical News Today reports: “Up to 25% of people in Latin America may be infected with Trypanosome cruzi, the parasite that causes Chagas disease.” This bug is also related to the insect that causes sleeping sickness in Africa.
Relatedly, the World Health Organization states that there are 70,000 cases of sleeping sickness each year in eastern, central and western Africa. This disease is spread from cattle to people through the tsetse fly. Without treatment this parasite causes sleep disturbance, convulsions, and comas, leading to death.
We have not covered the Yellowtail moth’s spread of the Caripito itch disease in French Guiana, or the vicious bedbugs back in the U.S., but we will get to them at a later date. For now we must point out that Bible prophecies in the Book of Exodus point to the Jews’ escape from Egypt as a crucial example of end-time judgment. More than once, God attacked Egyptians enslaving Israel with massive swarms of deadly insects. The two of us see these infectious diseases, caused by insects around the world, as the first warning strike of the last apocalypse!
