Egad! Our President, Rev. Repriestly, has asked me write today’s blog about killer tornados sweeping through our nation’s southland. Normally, if Jael or other editors aren’t writing about this horror story, it would be Ally I. Feermeno’s assignment. But she is doing a lot of research on nuclear power, both here and in Japan. So they have volunteered me to report on this subject––one that no one really wants to talk about at this time. But, indeed, it is necessary to do so!
First, all of us at Earth End – New Beginning extend our heartfelt condolences to the over 200 families that have lost loved ones as a result of some 250 ravaging tornados ripping up homes and towns in several states. Second, it is important to note that we only bring up Global Warming’s contributions to these tornadoes because very few in mass media or the internet news have mentioned it.
Look! Weather scientists and government officials know that Global Warming is a major contributor to these killer tornadoes. In 2010, Kevin Trenberth, head of the Climate Analysis Section of the National Center for Atmospheric Research said: “I find Climate Change … often gets underplayed . . . But there is a systematic influence on all of these weather events now-a-days because of the fact that there is this extra water vapor lurking around in the atmosphere than there used to be say 30 years ago.” He added that this extra four percent of water invigorates storms, “and it’s unfortunate that the public is not associating these with the fact that this is one manifestation of climate change. And . . . these kinds of things will only get bigger and worse in the future.”
In 2007, Andrea Thompson of Live Science wrote that NASA itself was aware that Global Warming will increase massive tornados: “Global warming will make severe thunderstorms and tornadoes a more common feature of U.S. weather, NASA scientists said . . .” Also she writes: “Climate models have previously shown that Earth will see more heavy rainstorms as the atmosphere warms, but a new climate model developed by NASA researchers is the first to show the difference in strength between storms that occur over land and those over the ocean and how storm strengths will change in general.”
So there you have it! Those who should have known did know! And those in charge have done little about it, very little indeed of the massive job needed to stop Global Warming. Some weather analysis predict that in 2012 the nation and the world will see more killer tornados than ever! In our weekly on-line Bible lessons, Rev. Repriestly often cites a verse from James: “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin” (4: 17). And we all know that when sin is not repented of, to the point of changing directions, only judgment awaits. How many more Americans must die before government officials change their neglect of Global Warming? Why do we tempt the final judgment of God?
Well what do you know, more downplaying, long delays, and official neglect! Someone’s not telling the truth! As much as main stream media downplays it, as much as “official reports” ignores it, and as much as BP denies it, the phenomenon of strange unexplained illnesses among those who worked to clean up the Gulf Oil Spill and others in the Gulf Coast region. Although some scientists claim that health in the Gulf of Mexico is “nearly back to normal,” doctors treating scores of patient complaints there disagree. Physicians treating people with “Gulf Oil Sickness” suspect that it has to do with the toxic dispersants BP used to break up oil slicks, in addition to the toxins in the oil itself. Moreover, AFP reports that the symptom complaints are the same as reported after the Exxon Valdez spill in 1989, and the 2002 Prestige oil tanker spill on Spain’s coast.
Doctors report that over 400 Louisiana citizens have oil spill-related health problems, such as: respiratory tract and/or ear infections, racing heartbeats, high blood pressure, dizziness, headaches, nausea, swollen sore throat, gastrointestinal problems, fluctuating blood sugar levels, poor eye sight, eye irritation, memory loss, and psychological stress. When speaking about his patients, Mike Robichaux, a local doctor who is treating some 60 patients with this Gulf Oil malady, claims “Ninety percent of them are getting worse. Nobody has a clue as to what it is.” He adds: “I’m dealing with a wide array of people and the symptoms are almost identical in all of them.” He insists that there is no question that these health problems have been caused by contact with the oil and dispersant. He also complains that medical and health scientists ignore the problem. Instead, he complains to Kim Hutcherson of CNN, media only covers Gulf Oil problems in animals: “They’ll talk about the pelicans and shorebirds, the crawfish, the crabs, the shrimp and so forth … and there’s nothing on human impact.”
The World Health Organization points out that governments seldom hold oil companies responsible for the sickness their mishaps bring to human beings. Because of long legal battles needed to prove guilt, governments usually pay for citizen illness themselves. Michelle Jones of The Intel Hub writes particularly about the toxicity of a chemical known as Corexit, which BP used to disperse oil slicks, and which it claims is as safe as “Dawn dish soap.” Most countries have banned the use or Corexit, and the EPA gives it the highest warning. So the question is: why did EPA allow BP to use it in the Gulf? What is the truth?
The time is coming when all will see everlasting truth. Satan is the god of this world. Jesus Christ called him a murderer, a liar and the father of lies (John 8: 44). Those following this god of money will not walk in truth. As believers dress youth in wholesale Christian kids t-shirts this summer, they must remember to walk in truth.
Earnest people and organizations around the world celebrated Earth Day in multiple ways this year. As in prior Earth Days, some pledged to plant new trees, others promised to transform their life-styles to “greener” consumption, and others demonstrated against ocean pollution, particularly in view of the Gulf Oil spill. While, generally, in the United States, most of the large-scale organized celebrations were to encourage the above types of benign pro-green activities, by far the greatest increase of protests around the world was against nuclear energy.
Over 200,000 protesters marked in Cologne, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg Germany. Citizens there want the government to abandon all nuclear energy power. The crowds included politicians from the Green and Social Democratic parties, Green Peace and other environmentalist groups, and union and religious leaders. According to Nicole Goebel of mostlywater.org, one union leader told those who support atomic energy, “We’ve had enough of your lies, of your assurances and of your playing down of the dangers.” Organizers claimed that these were the biggest anti-nuclear protests ever held in Germany.
In Japan, some 5,000 demonstrators marched in an “Energy Shift Parade,”
demanding that the struggling nation start using sustainable energy instead of nuclear power. As they walked from Yoyogi Park to the nation’s capital, they carried signs saying: “Bye Bye Genpatsu” (Goodbye Nuclear Power). Two thousand others just marched against the nuclear companies with signs such as “No More Fukushimas!” But Japanese leaders only responded that they would make nuclear energy safer: “We cannot do without nuclear energy, but we have to think about the way nuclear plants are built and the speed of their construction,” said Katsuya Okada, secretary general of the ruling centre-left Democratic Party.
And in South Korea, demonstrators wore hazmet suits and held umbrellas full of holes over their heads as they stood in front of “Stop Nuclear Radiation” posters. While in Taiwan, a 27 year-old singer named Lee stripped naked in a spot where the nation’s President Caryalrr would pass.
Such incidents are tests for democratic governments. Do they listen to the people or do they kowtow to business interests? Do they keep financing extremely expensive nuclear energy or do they steer their economies toward sustainable renewable energies such as solar power and wind? Nuclear energy is money-hungry science-gone-mad foolishness, and it has perverted the good sense of too many world leaders (Proverbs 19: 3). Perhaps it is time for visionary believers in the United States––home of the largest number of nuclear power plants in the world–– to design plus size Christian t-shirts, and lead this nation in anti-nuclear energy protests. Yes, perhaps it is past time!
People are writing into CNN to thank their on-site reporters for the dangerous jobs they do courting danger in Libya, and other hot spots in the Middle East, to get the front-line news about unfolding events. But , of course, these reporters would respond that it is their job to do so. In fact two reporters, Chris Hondros and Tim Hetherington, were killed last week in Misrata, Libya, simply because they were committed to the job of bring truth to the world about the struggles of people putting their lives on the line to be free of tyranny.
In the same regard, President Obama also thanked the men and women of the Armed Forces for their tremendous work in the struggle for freedom in Libya. As they salute, the Commander-in-Chief, they would respond, “Thank you sir. It is our job.” American soldiers fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, waiting on bases, or aboard ships and planes around the world join in that chorus: “It is our job.”
The men wearing hazmat suits and masks, daily risking their lives, as they wage deadly battles with Japan’s run-away nuclear power radiation, said on news channels recently, loosely translated, “It’s Our Job!” And of course firefighters around the country, who joined their fellow firemen in Texas to battle unusually raging fires rampaging across Texas, would tell anyone the same thing: it is their job to risk life and limb trying to protect people and property from destruction.
Whether civilian or military, courageous workers, even volunteers, daily stand on the edge of death, battling evil, danger, poverty, aggression, lies, cover-ups, destructive nature, sickness, disease, etc. Most of them stand for truth and honor because they believe that it is the right thing to do! They definitely do not carry out duties for the sake of money, fame or glory. In fact, it is often the people whose only interest is financial control who cause many of the problems––such as the war in Libya––in the first place. Those who think that the only thing worth working for in this world is money are aligned with the chief devil of darkness for indeed, “The love of money is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6: 10).
But one must wonder, are Christians calling out to God in The Name of Jesus about the battles in Libya and the rest of the Middle East? Are they praying about the nuclear disaster in Japan? Are they praying for people hurt by the fires in Texas, or the tornadoes ripping through the South? Are they asking The Holy Spirit’s help to pray for the leaders of this nation and other nations? Christian messages must emphasize one thing about prayer: “It’s the Christian’s job!” God will reward those brave men and women who risk their lives for peace, protection and freedom. But He withholds rewards from those who claim to know Christ but who refuse to pray. Perhaps more than any time in history, it is time, yea past time, for all Christians to report for the duty of prayer, and to know, “Its our job!”
1. Slow down the use of destructive energy sources––such as nuclear, oil, gas and coal––that are only designed to make money for a few people; adopt less expensive renewable energy sources––such as solar, wind, geothermal, etc.
2. Resolve to put an end to all contamination of Earth’s waters. This means no more: drilling off-shore for oil, dumping radiation, garbage, industrial and medical waste into oceans; overfishing and unnecessary killing of sea animals; no more building giant skyscrapers two inches from shore thereby stealing ocean’s habitat; excessive damning that dries up necessary rivers, lakes and streams; stealing fresh water from aquifers, giving them no time to replenish; industrial use of clean water, thus denying it for people and homes.
3. Resolve to stop all misuse of Earth’s grounds, including: fracking by drilling deeply underground to pound rocks with poisoned water; stripping mountains of needed plants to quickly obtain bits of coal; cutting down trees that are necessary to cleanse the air; cutting down the rain forests and other wooded locations for “manicured” agriculture, thus causing greater Global Warming.
4. Resolve to stop upsetting the balance of nature by: stealing land intended for animals; routing water ways displacing animal habitats; building houses in animal habitat areas; assuming that all the earth belongs to people alone!
5. Resolve to stop polluting the air with massive artificial emissions causing Global Warming that is slowly choking the life out of Earth and everything and everyone on it!
6. Resolve to stop disrespecting the Earth and everything and everyone on it for the selfish greed of a very few.
7. Also, be sure to check out businesspundit.com for a list of all the free deals and stuff companies are giving to those celebrating Earth Day, such as: Free Coffee from Starbucks, and free entrance to national parks!
Dah! Everyone knows that the practices in items one through six above are not going to completely stop while men rule on earth. But Thank God! One day these practices will stop when The LORD Jesus, His Father, and the true Body of Christ return to rule over this planet. The Book of Revelations says that then there shall be a new heaven and a new earth (21: 1). As people around the globe celebrate Earth Day, these are the “news” everyone should prepare for. And changing our ways on Earth by doing some of the things outlined above would be a good start if the world’s population really wants to say to the planet: “Happy Earth Day!”
Kudos to the many states, cities, and homeowners who have turned to solar power for their energy needs. All across the country, some Americans have decided to invest in solar power for more safer, pollution-free energy. Universities, grocery stores, city governments, industries and private individuals are taking advantage of federal, state and city tax incentives to pay for solar installations. They have also made the wise choice to use environmentally safe, renewable energy that does not contaminate air, soil or water, and will never run out.
The Las Vegas city government got a check for $ 3.5 million from Nevada Energy for installing solar panels at several carports at locations across the city at a cost of $ 6.8 million. According to Betsy Fretwell, Las Vegas City Manager, this project created 74 jobs, and will generate enough electricity to power 260 homes. It will also “reduce the city’s carbon footprint by more than 2,000 metric tons,” Fretwell says. John Owens, Director of Energy Efficiency for NV Energy, adds “It means better air quality, it means jobs, and it means sustainability.”
Maryland’s Energy Administration used $ 9.3 million in federal stimulus grants to garner $ 36 million in private investment funds to double the solar power generated in that state. The Maryland Energy Administration used the funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to fund more than a dozen grants for community colleges, and for county, city and town governments. The grants created projects funding some 80 jobs and paid for the installation of 40,000 solar panels throughout the state, panels that now generate power for 1,000 homes.
Last year Solar Power Partners, Inc. (SPP) completed five solar projects in California, one at UC San Diego and four at large grocery stores. According to mygreeneducation.com, “SPP now owns and operates 41 solar systems generating approximately 14 megawatts of green energy at schools, universities, medical centers, and businesses.” SPP pays upfront installation cost and then sells energy back to host properties at less than conventional grid costs. Pacific Power Renewables is working on two similar projects in California this year. One is a 15-acre solar panel system known as The Depot Park Solar Field. This site use to be on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Superfund list because of toxic chemical contamination. Now that is energy progress!
But the ultimate pollution-free energy source will be after the Battle of Armageddon when God, The Father, and God, The Son rule on earth. Bible prophecies indicate that today’s solar power may well be a foretaste of eternal energy power: “And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever” (Revelation 22: 5). Because oil, gas and nuclear energies so endanger earth’s populations, God’s reign on earth will come sooner than most people think.

One way to understand the urgency about Japan’s ocean radiation dumping is to review conditions of the world’s salt water systems before that nation’s disaster. In addition to the radiation Japan and other nations had already poured in, ocean waters are clogged with multi-thousand square mile islands of household and industrial garbage, massive oil spills, non-dissolvable plastics that choke sea animals mistaking them for food, medicinal and other industrial chemicals, etc.
All of these man-made pollutants bring increasing threats of deadly acidity, extremely poisonous to plant and animal sea life. These induced toxins have attacked coral and algae throughout oceans and seas––vegetation vital for fish survival, and sea water cleansing. Oceans also now contain the most dangerous faux-plants, Red Tide Algae, an ancient substance that causes brain damage in sea animals and in the people who eat those animals. Moreover, overfishing has greatly depleted seafood populations. And, like the rest of earth, the seas are in peril from the overheating caused by Global Warming.
Undoubtedly, there will soon be a tipping point. And Japan’s radiation dumping may well be it. In 2006, Kenneth R. Weiss and Usha Lee McFarling presented a revealing five-part series in The Los Angeles Times called “Altered Oceans.” They pointed out that human pollution is killing ocean life: 90% of the world’s stock of tuna, cod and big fish disappeared in the last 50 years; 650 gray whales washed up sick or dead on the west coast of the United States between 1999 and 2006; there are at least 150 oxygen-depleted dead zones around the world; and ocean toxins are now found in this nation’s rivers.
That was five years ago. Today, researchers know that these statistics are far, far worse. In addition to above sources of ocean acidification, BBC News pointed out in 2009 that it is caused by ominous increases in the worldwide burning of fossil fuels. In 2010, Jessica Marshall wrote in Discovery News that changing ocean chemistries reduce the iron necessary for phytoplankton survival––and phytoplankton is the crucial first in the sea animal food chain. Also last year, Dr. Carol Turley, head of Britain’s National Oceanography Center, released research on man-made causes of rising ocean acidity with the warning, “We need to start thinking about the risk to food security.”
Japanese citizens, and their neighbors along the Pacific rim, already think about food security. But, as taught in online Bible lessons, The Book of Psalms promises that the faithful believer’s security rests in Christ: “Trust in The LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed (37: 3)”; “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass (37: 7).” Nuclear power is certainly not a devise in which one should trust!
A major problem is that no one outside of a few managers at TEPCO (Tokyo Electric Power Company) knows exactly how much radiation that company has already dumped into the Pacific Ocean. But several countries are demanding more information from the Japanese government. They are particularly concerned as to how the released radiation will affect their fish product industries. Thus, the diplomatic wrangling has begun. China, North Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and probably a host of other nations operating behind the scenes, are telling Japan that dumping high-level radiation into oceanic water systems is unacceptable. That is significant seeing that in some 20 years of diplomatic fantangalling did nothing to stop Japan from whale hunting. Nevertheless, governments––especially those on the Pacific rim––appear to be seriously concerned about the affects Japan’s disaster will have on their populations, and their fish industries.
In the United States, with egg-in-face stoicism, corporate representatives and government overseers of nuclear power industries now march before Congress to explain that they are “reviewing safety measures,” because they know that this crisis will impact decisions about building new nuclear facilities and renewing licenses for existing ones. Rep. Ed Markey, a member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, wrote recently to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission explaining that Japan’s disaster makes evident “both the fragility of nuclear power plants and the potential consequences associated with a radiological release caused by earthquake-related damage.” Everyone should be aware that, because of nuclear power’s extreme danger, commercial insurers refuse to insure these operations. Thus, nuclear power plants in this country are insured by the government, or rather by the American people. Thus Markey wrote, “Taxpayer dollars should not be spent on reactors that could be at risk of suffering a catastrophic core meltdown in the event of an aircraft strike or major earthquake.”
As we have been screaming from this blog site, “This is insane!” Lethal radiation from Japanese plants now floats around earth’s atmosphere. How many Japanese and those from other nations must die from breathing that deadly air? How many generations of sick deformed children does the world have to see before this insanity stops? The same lethal poison now infuses the seas. How many great sea animals must wash ashore dead from radiation poisoning? And how many people must get sick or die from eating fish that likewise have ingested radiation poisoning? The Lord Jesus Christ gives several commandments about those who willingly cause unnecessary deaths (Matthew 5: 21, 10: 28; Luke 12: 4; John 10:10, etc.). And in Bible prophecies, He identifies the king of death as the Red Horse Rider soon to be defeated forever (Revelation 6: 4). People must decide which god they serve: death for the sake of nuclear power, or the God of Life?
Speaking of the animals killed by British Petroleum’s oil spill in the Gulf, why does major media fail to mention how Japan’s radiation spills into sea water also destroys animal life? These leaking power plants have released so much lethal radiation into the atmosphere that people are evacuated even further away from plant surroundings. So what do those releasing these poisons think will happen with the tons of radioactive fluids they dump into the ocean?
Apparently, England, France, Russia and nations in the former Soviet Union have been dumping radiation waste into ocean waters for years. TED Case Studies points out that Russia’s neighbors will never know just how much contaminated radiation that nation has poured into the Arctic Sea. Because of the present Japan disaster, scientists now insists that there must now be a collective study of how nuclear dumping affects marine life, and the seafood chains reaching human populations as well. So far, governments surrounding Japan express concern about radiation’s harm to fish that people eat. South Korea wants a joint commission to study the affects of radiation dumping on Pacific area seafood industries.
Elizabeth Grossman, who researches toxins affecting the human body, writes: “With contaminated water from Japan’s crippled Fukushima nuclear complex continuing to pour into the Pacific, scientists are concerned about how that radioactivity might affect marine life . . . signs are that nuclear isotopes are already moving up the local food chain.” She cites environmental scientist Tom Hei of Columbia University who explains that radiation affects ocean animals in the same way that it affects people: “Once in the body — whether inhaled or absorbed through gills or other organs — radiation can make its way into the bloodstream, lungs, and bony structures, potentially causing death, cancer, or genetic damage. Larger animals tend to be more sensitive to radiation than smaller ones.” So feeding ocean animals death can only bring death to the people who eat them.
I laud the excellent undercover stories that Jael Ever and Sarah News Worthy (who, like myself, is a member of the International Association of Truth Telling Journalists) have brought to bear on Japan’s nuclear crisis. Sarah has posted pictures of deformed children born decades after the Chernobyl fallout. On seeing these children, one must ask, what then can be expected among animal families living in ocean waters ingesting Japan’s nuclear garbage? Christian messages must stress more than ever 1 Timothy 4: 4 – 5 instructing believers to eat food with prayer and thanksgiving so that each meal is spiritually cleansed and “sanctified by The Word of God and prayer.” These messages must also stress that God laments every one of His creatures targeted by man’s negligence. They are not forgotten before Him (Matthew 10: 29, Luke 12: 6).
