Our Ways vs. God’s Ways

Readers of Earth End-New Beginning blog and of articles by members of the International Association of Truth Telling Women Journalists (IATTWJ) understand that we write them from a Biblical perspective. That is, we try to look at the things of earth from Biblical and God-centered points of view.  One of our favorite Christian messages is from Isaiah 55: 8 – 9: “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways, saith The LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.”  We remain assured that God’s thoughts do not include man’s right to needlessly kill Sea Turtles, White Tigers, Polar Bears or over 75 percent of the mammal, bird and sea life species on earth.  Thus, in addition to Global Warming, Jael Ever, Earth End editor, often writes about species declines, because we firmly believe that there is still time to head off God’s end-time judgment.

People have the power to halt the horrific practices of a few, which, if not stopped, will inevitably bring disastrous  consequences on many. The life of earth and of mankind is very precious to God.  His love and mercy has restrained deserved judgment for those who assume the right to recklessly slaughter His creations.  He has provided categories of animals for our food. But He did not create such magnificent animals as Sea Turtles for financial profit.  One goal of End-Time battles will be against nations that give Earth’s destroyers full reign.

The Bible says that all human beings are born with conscience knowledge of right and wrong. Even in the realm of human governments, there are agreements on environmental laws against killing any species into extinction. Precisely because they know it is against human law, those who herd sea turtles for jewelry and sexual libido, or slaughter elephants for their ivory tusks, or hunt down the last few White Tigers to hang their heads as trophies, usually try to hide their murderous crimes from public view. Thus, those who still listen to conscience must join in efforts to stop such oppression, and to protect animal, plant and human life.

Those who so disrespect God’s creations still have time to change.  They can hold back God’s inevitable and eternal judgment against those who destroy His Earth:  “And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth” (Revelation 11: 18).” As we have said before: readers of this blog can become activists of protection for both people and Nature. Such activists are on the right side.  Obviously, God has fond regard for those who are on the right side.

Animal Extinctions and Earth’s Destruction, Part 2

posted by admin @ 18:54 PM
March 7, 2011

Non-human animal species around the world are dying off by hundreds, even thousands, and credible scientists know it.  Specialists in animal studies also know that the major causes for these species declines and extinctions are the habits, land thefts and outright slaughters by the human classification of animals.  Noted scientists also insist that as some two-thirds of both the animal kingdom and plant life are now threatened with extinction because of human neglect, habitat theft, industrialized productivity and sports recreation––the next species to be so seriously threatened with extinction will be human beings themselves!

Because the job of covering this topic is vast, Jael Ever, Editor in Chief of the Earth End – New Beginning blog and the Board of the International Association of Truth Telling Women Journalists (IATTWJ) determined to divide the list by animals living primarily in or on land, air or water––and by nation.  As we go to press, dozens of land mammals in the United States are on the endangered species list.  Primary factors for the species declines include:  1) Human predators hunting for meat, fur, protection of livestock and fun; 2) Loss of animal habitat because of human encroachment; 3) Animal predators; 4) Diseases; 5) Deforestation; 6) Death by automobiles or other vehicles; 7) Habitat disturbances;  8) Loss of coastal marsh lands; 9) Industrialized agriculture; and 10) Political and commercial manipulation, confusion and control of authentic statistics detailing declines and extinctions.

Thus, it appears that the actual numbers of endangered species is greatly under-reported.  In 2005, scientists with  the Fish and Wildlife Service claimed that government and industrial officials suppressed their findings.  SFGATE.com writes that:  “Political appointees are inappropriately influencing the science that drives decisions to list species and protect their habitat.”  Yet even then some dozens of species were still listed, while in the past few years only one or two species have been listed.  Moreover various researchers boldly assert that––because of such under-reporting, neglect and mismanagement––some land mammals have gone into extinction without ever being placed on the endangered species list!

Members of the IATTWJ believe God’s Word in wholesale Christian Bibles when He says that human beings are made in His image and likeness, and that He sacrificed His Only Son Jesus for their redemption (John 3; 16).  But as I wrote in my last blog for Sister Jael Ever, God loves animals also, and He is well aware of their deaths.  Does anyone think that, for instance, God will not hold those responsible for the unnecessary deaths of the endangered species––the Louisiana Black Bear and the Woodland Caribou––shown on this blog?  With industrialized agriculture, fish farms, slaughter houses, grocery stores, etc., are such animals being sacrificed for food?  Do people not understand that God’s love restrains His judgment, but that these days of grace and mercy are almost over?

Animal Extinctions and Earth’s Destruction

This story on the rising numbers of animal extinctions around the world is of such magnitude that the Senior Editor of Earth End-New Beginning, Jael Ever, has divided the research and writing among members of the International Association of Truth Telling Women Journalists (IATTWJ).  As President of the IATTWJ, I have assigned various aspects of this vast story to other IATTWJ members.  But with Jael’s permission, I wish to start today’s report on some of the wonderful animal species that human killing and neglect have already driven to extinction.

A lovely animal that human hunters have now destroyed from the face of the Earth is the Caribbean Monk Seal, which swam in the waters of the Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.   People first began slaughtering this seal in the late 15th century when Columbus labeled them “sea wolves,” and then killed eight of them for meat.  In their records of animals already extinct, the site funonthenet.in claims that this Monk Seal “the only species of seal to go extinct directly due to human causes.”  Although this water creature has not been seen 1952, it was officially declared extinct in June of 2008.

Another now-extinct animal conservationists tried to save is the Pyrenean Ibex.  Again, Spanish hunters led  attacks against this beautiful creature. Wild mountain goats with spectacular trophy horns that had roamed Europe by the thousands for centuries, this species was down to only 10 as numbered in 1993.   Although Spanish researchers tried to save the bred by cloning, that effort failed in 2009.  The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) told the Spanish government that their efforts were entirely too late. The last Pyrenean Ibex, a 13-year old female was killed by a falling tree in Ordesa National Park in the Pyrenees in 2000.  Her only other relative companion had died the year before from old age.

The WWF  has warned all European countries that 10 additional European specials are close to following the Pyrenean Ibex down the extinction abyss.  These include: “The Iberian lynx, the brown bear, the harbour porpoise, the monk seal, the loggerhead sea turtle, the freshwater mussel, the Atlantic salmon, the marsh fritillary butterfly, the lady’s slipper orchid and the corncrake.”

I am sorry, but I, Sandra Repriestly, cannot continue with this blog.  I am in sad tears of shame and repentance for such destruction and neglect by the human race.  We, who cannot create these beings, have needlessly slaughtered them.  Only the Judgment of God remains.  Christian messages must stress that God’s mercy for our failures as stewards of Nature will not last forever.  It is time for sincere repentance and change.  We cannot continue to cause such mass animal extinctions, unless we want the human race itself to become extinct!  If that is the case, get ready!  For the worst is yet to come!

Additional Scientists: Earth Coming Apart

posted by Jael Ever @ 20:19 PM
March 3, 2011

A group of scientists at the University of California, Berkeley, have completed a study of species disappearances and have concluded that “Life on Earth is hurling toward extinction.”  The researchers compared the present rate of animal extinctions with what they call the “Big Five” mass extinctions in past eons of time, and determined that the Earth is rushing pell mell into the Sixth Mass Extinction.  Paleobiologist Anthony Barnosky led the study with a graduate class in 2009. The results are published in this week’s issue of Nature.

Nicholas Matzke, one graduate student in the study states:  “Once you lose species, you don’t get them back. It takes millions of years to rebound from a mass extinction event.”  As examples of recently lost extinctions, Nadia Drake, who reports on the study for mercury news.com, lists:   dodo birds, passenger pigeons, Javan tigers, Japanese sea lions, etc., and including the eastern cougar, as determined this week by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Environmental scientists Paul Ehlich of Stanford University, while not a part of the study, definitely concurs with its conclusions.  Author of the 1968 controversial best-selling book, The Population Bomb, Ehlich complains that around the world species like butterflies and grasses are disappearing.  When Ehlich predicted several years ago that the rapidly increasing human population was too much for earth’s resources to handle, he was ridiculed.  But now his findings dovetail with that of other scientists.  “If you’re a field biologist, your sites and organisms are disappearing, anywhere you go around the world,” he said.

Also from that Berkeley campus, paleobiologist Charles Marshall adds that marine mammals are particularly   vulnerable to this wave of extinctions.  He and the other scholars insist that there is still time to stop the wasting away of species everywhere.  “There really is time to reverse habitat destruction or massive over-exploitation of resources.”  But it is an uphill battle.  Contributing to this end of Earth as we know it are: habitat destruction, climate change, invasive species, and human population growth.  Barnosky calls these interchanging waves of destruction as “a perfect storm,” but he says optimistically, “People are the ones who are driving this extinction, so we can fix it.”

But, of course, “we” have to want to “fix it.”  So far, the political leaders of “we” show little, if any, interest in these concerns.  Bible prophecies define and make plain that the rush toward Earth’s destruction is part of the impending Battle of Armageddon.  Hopefully, mature Christians are not part of the “we” who ignore these galloping disasters, but are instead asking God to awaken people, and their leaders, to the urgencies of these times, so that perhaps Earth’s complete collapse can be thwarted, if not reversed.

What’s Next? Uranium in the Nation’s Drinking Water, Part 2

posted by Jael Ever @ 20:59 PM
March 2, 2011

Of course, the documentary, “Gas Land,” produced by and starring Josh Fox, brought the greatest public awareness to the fracking process.  The highly-acclaimed documentary that won the 2010 Sundance Film Festival Award, has been shown on HBO-TV, and is now available on DVD.  Mr. Fox now travels around the country speaking at showings of the film.  His work has awakened farmers and their communities to the dangers of leasing land to oil companies for fracking.  Only, in the past few years, are land owners aware of the danger this practice means to fresh water supplies.  And there are even more dangers to it.

In succinct entries on one of his websites, Fox lists these helpful summaries about the dangers of fracking to drill for Natural Gas:

 •  Gas Drills are exempt from both Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) Guidelines and the Clean Water Act
 •   65% of the chemical used in fracking are harmful to human health
 •   70% of the fracking liquid stays underground and is not biodegradable
 •   80,000 pounds of chemicals are injected into earth’s crust
 •  Drilling from nitrogen oxide and volatile organic compounds create
    destructive surface smog
 •  Fracking Fluid calls for 2 million gallons of water transported by
    up to 100 water haulers.

To summarize:  This process uses water (that may be fresh) to contaminate water with chemicals (that may be lethal)  in order to produce Natural Gas because it is supposedly cleaner than oil.  Not only does the process dump contaminates into the nation’s drinking water, it poisons the air and soil as well.  Such unsafe chemicals undoubtedly end up in valuable fresh water aquifers which send drinking water far beyond the hundreds of drilling locations.   In addition, American citizens are being further dishonored:  apparently other countries do not now allow fracking.  However, oil and gas companies are now considering “exporting” this questionable project.

For those keeping a daily dairy in Christian prayer books, here is a suggested prayer:  “Father by Your Almighty grace and mercy, please stop these drillers from ruining the very water of life that You have provided for our sustenance.  Please forgive us for remaining ignorant for so long about their plans to manipulate and destroy nature for the sake of profit.  Please give government and private officials the secret of mining energy from safer sources.  Forever, we pray in the Precious Name of Jesus.”
