Still Not Reaching All as He Commanded

According to Brooks Hays of United Press International (UPI), who cites the journal Wildlife Conservation Society, “More than a quarter of the globe is controlled by indigenous groups. . .who own, use or have management rights over more than a quarter of Earth’s land surface. Indigenous groups control approximately 14.6 million square miles. Roughly 40 percent of Earth’s protected terrestrial land consists of acreage controlled by indigenous groups.”

I thought, “That’s impossible. What about all those denominations that claim to have sent out thousands of missionaries over the last two centuries?” Then I theorized to myself: “These articles actually refer to poor people living down-town, homeless, or in ghettos that wealthy up-town churches never speak to, much less evangelize.”

But no! I was wrong. I checked on indigenous groups in every continent around the globe. And it is true, there are thousands of people on earth who have never heard the Gospel. But what about radio, television, short wave and video broadcasts bouncing off the planet? However, unless ‘wild’ people living off the land have electricity, know a particular language, and are educated to understand that dialogue, it is almost impossible to take them the Gospel. A true missionary would have to live with them for months, or even years, to understand their methods of communications.

And I thought of the times I have ministered in Africa and the organizers had arranged to have sometimes five to seven people on stage with me who translated my every few words into certain languages, as well as translators in the audience who used hand signals to translate for those who could not hear or speak. Thank God for those believers who gallantly provide such services.

The thought remains that The Body of Christ in America, Africa, Europe, Australia and other parts of the “educated modern” world have failed The LORD who commanded us to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ out to all the world. We simply quit and decided to sit on our duffs and disobeyed. There will be a big price to pay for these sins at The Judgment Seat of Christ.

Then I remembered that all of Israel did the same thing. God

likewise told them to spread the Old Testament gospel, but they decided to keep it to themselves, because, as far as they were concerned, the gospel included wealth, and they wanted to keep that rewarding information to themselves.

The Book of Acts illustrates difficulties that even new Christian Jews had with taking the Gospel to the Gentile world: “And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel and believe.

“And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us; And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.

“Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear? But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.

“Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them. And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:

“Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name. And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written, After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:

“That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things. Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.

“Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and from fornication, and from things strangled, and from blood (Acts 15: 7-20).”

Which brings me to The Millennial Reign or the 1,000 years that The LORD Jesus will rule over all the earth, as promised in our wholesale Christian Bibles. One of the major reasons for that Reign will be because The LORD Jesus Himself will have to finish the work that He left His (too often disobedient) followers to complete. Dear God, please forgive us for such wicked disobedience. Please have mercy on our souls.
