Dear Partners: Because of its urgency, I have asked Dr. Jael to allow me to repeat parts of her recent post in Worlds Collide,:‘It’s The Last Days: Still Don’t Believe Christianity Is Under Attack?’ It shows we have much prayer work to do:
After stating: “Between staid [church services and campaign rallies, are American Christians aware that Communists countries and radical Muslim groups destroy churches, muffle Christian voices, and even slay Christians?,” she cites examples of Christian persecutions in China, the Sudan, Russia, Nigeria, etc.
She quotes Andrew Jacobs of The New York Times: “In another sign of the authorities’ efforts to contain one of China’s fastest-growing religions, a government demolition campaign against public symbols of the Christian faith has toppled crosses at two more churches in the coastal province of Zhejiang.
“ . . . congregants at the Wenling Church. . . faced off with as many as 4,000 police officers but ultimately failed to prevent the removal of two crosses from atop their building. . . as many as 40 people were detained during the standoff . . . [A]uthorities in Zhejiang Province have issued demolition notices to more than 100 churches, saying their structures violated zoning regulations.”
‘Voices of Martyrs’ magazine writes continually about pastors being jailed in Muslim and Communists countries. Didi Kirsten Tatlow reveals in ‘Christian Pastor Sentenced to 12 Years in Chinese Prison’: Pastor Zhang Shaojie now sits in jail for the ‘crime’ of “gathering a crowd (i.e. a church) to disrupt social order.”
Jael is particularly disturbed about stealth substitutions in Russia making a KGB secret service agent as head of the Russian Orthodox Church. Not only is this Patriarch Krill devoted to Russian president Putin, he also withstood Ukrainian pastors because they spiritually defended their country and their soldiers.
All Christians should be horrified about what this newly formed, but extremely violent Muslim group, ISIS is doing in Iraq. When they took over Mosul, that nation’s second largest city, ISIS burned down its 1800 year old Christian church and demanded that all Christians either convert to Islam, leave their homes and belongings or be killed.
But Jael seems particularly angry about prayer lethargy in U.S. churches: “Many churches are headed by unChristian pastors who, commit unseen moral decadence. Some churches serve as covers for crimes. Too many churches succumb to the worst corruption of all––love of money, love of race, of ethnic culture––preference for any force that drives out the love of God and of man.”
She closes with Our LORD’s admonishment in Revelation 3: “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked.”
I call on Bros. Michael, John, Sr., John, Jr., and others to renew their prayer groups and to specifically pray for these nations, asking God to: 1) Stop the rise of ISIS and to punish that group for what it has done to Christians; to bless those Christians who have been displaced from their homes and businesses;
2) To stop Russia from moving further into Ukraine, to bless and strengthen pastors and Christians in Ukraine; 3) To stop Boko Haram’s Muslim rebel army in Nigeria which also murders Christians, tears down their villages and burns God’s churches; 4) To have the U.S. negotiate with China to stop persecuting pastors and Christians and desecrating their churches or the U.S. will not import their goods!
Pray in faith, remembering what our wholesale Christian t-shirts insist:
“Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving (Colossians 4: 20).” Report back to me on your prayer meeting schedules ASAP please.
Government officials refuse to admit it, but deadly emissions from Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster now sicken and kill that nation’s children. Moreover, rates of illnesses increase daily including thyroid cancer, continuing nose bleeds, endless asthma coughing, etc. Some teens and elderly mysteriously die.
Reuters reports: “The Tenth Report of the Fukushima Prefecture Health Management Survey . . . with data up to January 21, 2013, revealed that 44.2 percent of 94,975 children sampled had thyroid ultrasound abnormalities. The number of abnormalities has also been increasing over time as well . . .”
Harvey Wasserman of ecowatch.com writes : “Some 39 months after the multiple explosions at Fukushima, thyroid cancer rates among nearby children have skyrocketed to more than forty times (40x) normal.
“More than 48 percent of some 375,000 young people—nearly 200,000 kids—tested by the Fukushima Medical University near the smoldering reactors now suffer from pre-cancerous thyroid abnormalities . . . The rate is accelerating.”
Dr. Shigeru Mita from the Mita Clinic in Tokyo warns in well.com that increases in rare diseases means children and adults must move farther away from radiation: “It all began in the summer of 2011 just a few months after the Fukushima disaster, when higher than normal numbers of children with unusual symptoms began to flood his office.
“Bloodshot eyes, dark circles under the eyes and sinusitis were some of the more common symptoms, as well as persistent asthma symptoms that would carry on for long periods of time, something that was not the norm prior to the disaster.” He adds: “the average neutrophil count (the most abundant type of white blood cell) has declined considerably in children between the ages of six and 12.”
So Mita is advising his patients to move away from affected areas, considering that: “An increasing number of adult patients are also developing strange symptoms like extended bouts of asthma that are not responding to common treatment protocols. There has also been a considerable uptick in the number of deaths from these symptoms, especially among the elderly.
“The medication doesn’t seem to work . . . We also see more patients with diseases that had been rare before, such as polymyalgia rheumatica…. Before Fukushima, we had one or less patient per year. Now, we treat more than 10 patients at the same time.”
Yukiko Kameya, Fukushima nuclear refugee, told Reuters “Government officials ignore all the problems we’re having. There are many young people between 15 and 19 in Fukushima who are in high school who have died suddenly. . . and there are 59 children with thyroid cancer, they’ll never recognize it as being caused by the radiation.”
Yet Wasserman writes: “The nuclear industry and its apologists continue to deny this public health tragedy. Some have actually asserted that “not one person” has been affected by Fukushima’s massive radiation releases, which for some isotopes exceed Hiroshima by a factor of nearly 30.”
Japan is a perfect example of why Christians must pray for God and His Son to return to rule earth entirely. TEPCO, owner the leaking plant, cannot clean up its mess, and national rulers refuse to run it. Thus, as wholesale Christian t-shirts beg: “Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus (Revelation 22: 20).”
‘The World Is Too Much With Us’ 19th century poet William Wordsworth pines about man’s disconnection from nature. But his romantic notion as to how life should be would explode to know that nations today are so connected that a few deaths in one country can trigger hundreds of deaths thousands of miles away.
Such closeness means that nations which still employ camels for work and transportation, can affect the health of nations for which camels are confined for viewing at zoos. A major problem is that sovereign governments do not want other nations, or international groups, telling them what to do.
For instance, Rob Garver of The Financial Times explains: “People who study infectious diseases have long been calling for better communication among governments around the world and better monitoring of the spread of diseases within individual countries. This week, the world got another example of what they are so worried about.”
Recently, Saudi Arabia finally admitted that it had seriously under-reported its MERS cases by more than 100 since January of 2013. “The total rose to 688 from 575. More worrisome is that the mortality rate jumped to over 40 percent, even while the outcome for more than 50 patients is still unknown,” Garver adds.
Kate Kelland also reveals: “At the heart of the outbreak, Saudi Arabia has been criticized for its handling of MERS, which public health experts say could have been under control by now if officials and scientists there had collaborated more on studies into how the virus operates and where it is coming from.
“In response, the Saudi health ministry says it has put in place new measures for better data gathering, reporting and transparency, including standardization of testing and improved guidelines for labeling and storing samples.”
Chandan Das of breathecast.com adds: “the outbreak of MERS and number of deaths due to the contagion would have been much lower, provided the Saudi officials sought help from other countries in dealing with the crisis.” Because of such poor communications, the Saudis fired their Deputy Health Minister.
Kelland also writes that the World Health Organization (WHO) accused Abu Dhabi, capital of United Arab Emirates (UAE), of the same neglect: “The recent upsurge of cases in Abu Dhabi appears to have been caused by a combination of factors, including a breach in infection prevention and control measures in health care settings, active surveillance and increase in community acquired cases.” Such criticism leveled at one of the region’s wealthiest countries!
Another important update from the New England Journal of Medicine: MERS definitely comes from human interaction with camels. “Dr. Tariq Madani of King Abdulaziz University and his team write: “Nasal swabs collected from the patient and from one of his nine camels were positive for MERS. Further tests showed the virus had been circulating in the camels before the man got infected.”
Yes Wordsworth would be shocked to know that sick camels in a semi-undeveloped country can collide with and kill victims in a far extended post-modern world. And he would probably conclude that no one then is truly safe.
These are the reasons that, after anti-Christ’s attempts to violently unify the world, The LORD Jesus Christ will come with His glorified Christian army to rule over mankind in loving strictness. As wholesale Christian T-Shirts cry: “For so hath The Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth (Acts 13: 47).”
The people of Portland, Oregon, are finally able to use their tap water without boiling it after officials found E Coli in one of the city’s open reservoirs. Grocery stores, large chain supermarkets, convenience gas stations, and mom and pop shops quickly sold out of bottled water, sparkling water, juice, beer and ice.
Paresh Dave says in ‘Portland Water Scare: Water Bottles Sell Out, Restaurants Close’ that as they prepared to spend a dreadful Memorial Day weekend, Portlanders also chucked food already on hand for fear it was potentially contaminated. And they used every possible pot to boil water for all uses.
He writes: “About 670,000 people in the Portland area were told after lunch Friday to boil water used for drinking, cooking and tooth-brushing. Three routine tests this week showed the water system was contaminated by E. coli bacteria, usually associated with animal or human fecal matter.
“Restaurants, cafes and the city’s famous craft brewers responded in different ways. Several closed for the day.” On Twitter, Stumptown Coffee chain wrote :“It’s an extra safety precaution related to rinsing milk pitchers, ice, dish washing, etc. Sorry about the inconvenience!”
A health official––admitting that harmful bacteria had gotten into the city’s water supply––dismissed it as “the worst condition someone likely would suffer is diarrhea.” Thankfully, hotels also warned customers not to drink from their taps.
Finally, a full day later in an updated article, ‘Portland’s Boil-Water Notice Lifted; E. Coli Test Comes Back Clean,’ Paresh Dave explains: “At 11 a.m., the Portland Water Bureau lifted a boil-water notice that had been in effect for about 24 hours. During tests this week, officials had detected the presence of the bacteria E. coli. The tests came back negative Saturday.
“The water bureau urged residents and businesses to discard food, ice and drinks made with tap water since Tuesday. The bureau plans to flush out two of its open-air reservoirs, and it recommended people let their taps run for about 2 minutes to flush out any residual bacteria in the pipes.”
Portland is one of the few American cities still using open reservoirs, (even after a teen was caught on video urinating through the fence around one). Next April, the Environmental Protection Agency’s rule applies that all drinking water reservoirs must be covered, or else water passing through them must be re-treated.
Interestingly while all this was going on in Portland, the city’s citizens vociferously rejected the mayor’s wish to put fluoride in drinking water––again a practice in most American cities. As USA Today reveals: “With more than 80 percent of the expected ballots counted late Tuesday night, the Multnomah County election website showed the fluoride proposal failing, 60 percent to 40 percent.”
Despite what many believers think, Christianity is not a democracy where a majority rules. In this glorious Body where Jesus Christ is LORD, and God, The Father, is Everlasting King, Their laws ultimately rule. And while Their merciful grace and patience pours upon the earth constantly, a time comes when each ends.
As wholesale Christian t-shirts warn “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4: 17).”
If indeed most preachers and television evangelists avoid mention of increasing earthquakes, tornadoes, wild fires, etc. caused by Global Warming, as evidence that this generation lives in the last days, the question is why?
After all, even professing Christian leaders with modicum knowledge of the Bible should be aware that man’s time on earth is scheduled to end after 2,000 years, and this new century puts that ruler-ship beyond that period. Several Bible references symbolize one day to a thousand years.
“But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day (2 Peter 3: 8).” In Luke 10, when the good Samaritan pays an inn two pence to care for the wounded man, and promises to return if additional funds are needed. One pence is equal to one day’s wages. Thus, The LORD’s reference here symbolizes two thousand years.
Hosea saw times beyond those ‘two days’ giving more time for men to repent: “Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and He will heal us; He hath smitten, and He will bind us up. After two days will He revive us: in the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight (6: 1 – 2).”
Such Scriptures indicate that The LORD Jesus will rapture, or call, true Christians to join Him in heaven in this “third day.” But before that He will send authentic spiritual revival on earth. But religious leaders who avoid discussing the many affects of Global Warming actual block such revival because their audiences see no real need to change their ways and wholly surrender to God.
Even when Jesus, The Ultimate Revivalist, was on earth, religious leaders constantly resisted, accused, and threatened Him, primarily because they did not want to lose control of funds flowing into their religious coffers.
Moreover, such desire for control extended to reverence for material objects, such as altars, outwardly clean cups, and the temple. They organized worship services around money, and other material, rather than spiritual realities.
But showing no reverence for much falderal, Jesus ran money changers and dove sellers out of the temple, while shouting to the Pharisees: “It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but ye have made it a den of thieves (Matthew 21: 13).” And they hated Him for that. Those leaders resisted God!
Claiming ignorance of the spirit world, instead of acknowledging His power for healing and deliverance, they yelled: “This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils (Matthew 12: 24.” Ultimate blasphemy!
But, as many wholesale Christian t-shirts declare, they could not overcome Him: “In Him was Life; and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not (John 1: 4 – 5).”
Today’s preachers had best admit that Global Warming is real, and allow God’s Holy Spirit to revive His Church (i.e. it is not their Church) and shepherd more people into His kingdom, or they could face judgment as Pharisees.
Dispatches from our Newspaper Boys and Girls Around the World:
The U.N.’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says the rains toppled over 26,000 houses, and brought some 56 victim to their deaths. The homeless sleep on streets. This year’s flooding is the worst in years.
Indonesia: Volcanoes and earthquakes continue to shake many of this nation’s hundreds of islands. One of the hottest volcanoes in years at Mount Rokatenda, in East Nusa Tenggara province, led to evacuations of hundreds of villagers, and at least six deaths. Other villagers refuse to leave their homes.
AFP News says: “Rescuers have been battling through roads blocked by ash to reach affected areas and persuade reluctant villagers to leave their homes. More than 500 have so far been taken off the island to a camp in Maumere, on Flores.
“There are a lot of people here who seem to be traumatized due to the eruption,” says Bakri Kari, from the rescue team. “Many lost their homes after they ran in a panic. People are in despair.” A 6.3 earthquake’s center was in the sea.
Philippines: A typhoon dubbed Utor hitting this island nation with gusts of 124 miles an hour brought floods and mudslides to remote towns, destroying roads, farms, trees, homes and untold numbers of deaths.
Japan: Kids reporting to Earthend journalist Feermeno say that at least nine people died from heat stroke in Japan last week as the temperature there hit 106 degrees Fahrenheit. In July massive heat waves there killed at least 12 people.
The government is begging people to stay indoors, drink plenty of liquids, and use their air conditioners, putting more strain on an already over-loaded system depending on coal and oil since the Fukushima nuclear shut down in 2011.
China: The kids say Feermeno is in China covering the execution of two men in Xinjiang’s Kashgar Prefecture after violent unrest among Muslim populations. AFP says China calls them “terrorists,” but freedom rights groups argue China uses that term to justify force against Muslim Uighur minorities. Is it because China doesn’t want people believing in any god other than the state?
I sent these dispatches to my Dad and Brother Michael for their prayer teams, as well as to Jael, hoping she assigns a blog about people in Communist countries willing to die for their faith, and those in our country who give up very little for their faith in The LORD Jesus Christ.
As wholesale Christian tee shirts say, “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased (Hebrews 13: 16).”
OK so Jael calls me: “Why aren’t you working? You haven’t sent a story in for weeks?” And I say, “So where are those interns you gave me? Why aren’t they writing on nuc plants in the U.S.? Do I have to do everything?” In my dreams! Truth is I said, “I’m on it. Lots of research going on here. Have it to you today!”
So first of all earlier this month, the operator at Fukushima disclosed he found another leak in one of the hundreds of steel tanks storing radioactive water at their downed nuclear site. And they plan to fix it by freezing it! Come on!!!
The day before that, the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) admitted it found cesium particles in groundwater flowing into the Fukushima plant. So now we have radioactive water flowing into stored radioactive water, at a rate of 100,000 gallons a day. I’m talking to them to see what else TEPCO plans to do.
But oh no. TEPCO officials wouldn’t answer my questions, but they did for Martin Fackler of The New York Times (NYT). He ‘carefully’ writes in ‘Leak Found in Steal Tank for Water at Fukushima:‘
“The company has installed a new filtering system that it says removes every type of radioactive particle but one, tritium. Still, that leaves it no choice but to keep storing the water rather than dumping it.”
TEPCO also admitted: “ . . . it had erred in previous tests, said it had found up to 0.39 becquerels of radioactive cesium 137 per liter of water, an amount that is far below Japan’s safety level for drinking water of 10 becquerels per liter.”
Thus, people on the street are furious with TEPCO. Even Fackler says so: “Faced with growing public alarm over the water crisis, the government last week ordered Tepco to stop the influx of groundwater by freezing soil around the reactor buildings, a novel plan that calls for creating a wall of underground ice.”
People must approve that plan, especially in commercial fishing areas. That’s not liable to happen. Because of the leaks they can’t serve faucet water to their babies. Shortly afterwards, officials told Hiroko Tabuchi, also of NYT, that Japan plans to restart some of its 50 commercial reactors soon.
“We have reached a milestone,” says Shinichi Tanaka Chair of their Nuclear Regulation Authority. With their ‘new safety systems,‘ he says they are accepting applications from companies to restart 13 nuclear reactors across the country.
This is astonishing! Japanese people don’t want it. I am interviewing for human interest stories. I assigned those interns to work new angles on San Onofre Nuclear Plant in California shutting down forever! But their writing was boring and didn’t have much new. But they’re still working on it.
We’ll get more stories in soon chief, I promise. Meanwhile remember what wholesale Christian T-Shirts say: “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him (1 Corinthians 2:).” Keep up the good work then!
Various phenomena in nature, as well as within nations, now prepare interacting backdrops for Armageddon. These phenomena include: Economic collapses, political upheavals (as now in Turkey, Syria, etc.) killer storms, tornadoes, earthquakes, animal extinctions, disease pandemics, etc.
Revelation Chapter 6 gives extended views of increasingly dire disasters symbolized by the five horses of the Apocalypse. Their relationship to current events provide harbingers of more brutal times to come.
The first horse rider is a human being totally consumed by evil, called the anti-Christ, 666 and other hidden indicators of satanism. Most Bible scholars agree he will arise in the Middle East. Dake’s Reference Bible limits his entrance to four nations in the former Greek empire of Alexander the Great: Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. In his book ‘Revelation Expounded,’ Dake specifies that nation as Syria.
The anti-Christ will make continuing wars––hot, cold, economic, etc.––between nations to solidify his hold on the old Roman and Grecian empires, covering parts of the Middle East, Europe and Northern Africa.
The rider on the second horse in verses 6: 3-4, called War, is a powerful demonic spirit influencing men to keep wars and rebellions moving throughout the earth. Obviously, he is hard at work on that agenda now.
The rider on the third horse in 6: 5-6, known as Famine, again already works in Third World countries. The Bible identifies the rider on the fourth horse (in 6: 7 – 8) as Death. He will have the power to kill with epidemics and other disasters affecting millions of people. Verse 8 says the rider following Death is Hell.
If Global Warming is not abated, health workers fear millions of sick people will overwhelm health agencies. This rider, Death, will kill in every way possible, including wild animals––i.e. unleashed tigers, giant snakes, wild boars, chimpanzees, alligators, killer bees, wolves, etc. unleashed on human populations.
And the fifth rider, following closely after Death, is Hell. Students of Bible prophecies know that evil’s ultimate goal is to take as many billions of people to Hell through the work these evil spirit riders as possible.
The job of Christians is to reach as many people around the world as possible with the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Believers working to attain that goal are now in constant battle with those coming evil forces.
Those professing to be in Christ who are not battling spiritual forces should check the level of their faith: “Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution (2 Timothy 3: 12).” As wholesale Christian t-shirts exclaims The LORD’s command: “And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature (Mark 16: 15.)” On with the work!
Hmm. Upstate New York had 34 inches of snow last Memorial Day, and its snowing in Russia even this month. Severe killer floods have not let-up in Central Europe; and Saskatchewan, Canada, is having its coolest spring in a hundred years.
Weather Underground’s records had to research back to 1816 to find that much snow on New York’s Whiteface Mountain. Even at sea level, near New York City people could see snowflakes––in June!
But citizens in Russia said to see those flakes on the second day of summer is “hardcore!” One blogger said, “The weather must’ve forgot it’s June.” And in South Africa where they have winter, while the West supposedly has summer, people complain of an unseasonable snowy winter, making driving impossible.
The blunt of this whacky weather is particularly felt across central Europe which has seen at least 15 deaths from flooding since last weekend. As the swollen River Elbe snakes its way down from the Czech Republic, where it killed and injured victims, those soaked in Dresden, Germany hopes the river crests soon.
Al Jazeera reports Czech soldiers erect metal barriers to stop the river’s rage, in addition to mounting millions of sand bags. Prague has limited transportation to underground stations as water from the Vltava River flows into Old Town.
Some 18,000 people forced to evacuate homes in both countries also wait for the river to calm down. Most homes and businesses near Elbe’s banks now sit in several feet of water. The Extinction Protocol and CBC News say that rescuers used boats to get people from flooded parts of Passau, Germany, to dry land.
“Water from three rivers poured into the old town of Passau . . . making the city inaccessible on foot.” In addition to those known dead, several more are missing in Austria, Switzerland and Norway as well. Lillehammer, Norway, claims more rain fell last Wednesday than that city expects in an entire month.
Jens Stoltenberg, Norwegian Prime Minister, and Germany’s Chancellor Merkel are trying to visit victims, but flood conditions even make those trips dangerous. Flooding forced Volkswagen to temporarily shut down its plant in Zwickau, Germany, because high waters kept workers from reaching the factory.
In Scientific American’s ‘Is Global Warming Cooler than Expected,’ Alex Kirby says: “The Earth is now warming faster than at any time in the last 11,000 years, but scientists do not understand clearly why the atmosphere has warmed less than they expected over the last decade or so––and more slowly than in the 1990s.”
So why were are having cooler summers than usual? Kirby answers its because all the warmth is going into the oceans, “rather than into the atmosphere.” Hmm. Didn’t warmer oceans contribute to last year’s Hurricane Sandy?
Hmm again. Better get out new wholesale Christian t-shirts blaring old news again: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding (Proverbs 3: 5).” Man’s wisdom won’t get us out of what’s coming!
The death toll from last week’s tornado in Oklahoma is up to 14 or 18 and is expected to rise. Those numbers include three seasoned storm chasers who were trying to report the terror so that television weathermen could inform the public. Oklahoma Governor, Mary Fallin, says that some 115 people were injured.
Scientist Tim Samaras, age 54, who had trailed, examined and categorized storms for 25 years, his 24-year old son, Paul, and his fellow scientists, Carl Young, 45––were killed with the erratic storm they were chasing turned on them.
Samaras was a famed meteorologist often seen on the Discovery Channel and National Geographic. In ‘Death toll from Friday’s Oklahoma Tornado Rises to 14, Michael Muskal of CBS News cites the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK, as the source that their deaths are the first for scientific tornado chasers.
Muskal reports that at least six people “mainly children,” are still missing and the hope of finding them alive is fading.” Spouting sometimes three different tornado swirls at a time, the mile-wide storm even went through Monroe, OK, the town where 11 days earlier, a tornado devastated most of its houses, businesses schools and hospital, and killed 24 people, including 10 children.
That earlier storm, traveling higher than 200 miles an hour, has now been rated as an EF5, which is the highest possible rating. This second storm was measured at between 136 and 165 miles per hour.
As of Friday night the death toll was thought to be limited to five, including a mother and baby who were part of the huge caravan trying to run away from the storm. But as the hours passed by, nearby Arkansas soon reported that the tornado’s rage resulted in severe flooding that claimed five more victims there.
This second storm also slammed into St. Louis, where 150 homes were damaged or destroyed. Its rage could be felt as far east as New England, shutting down power in some 12,000 homes. It also moved downward into South Carolina. In the Oklahoma area over 91,800 homes and businesses were without electricity.
Joel Achenbach and Jason Samenow of the Washington Post point out several conflicting safety factors in storm chasing: “The tragedy has roiled the increasingly competitive field of storm chasing and has raised the question of whether there are too many people getting too close to violent maelstroms.”
Others point to officials who didn’t mandate underground structures on housing construction, and secure-proof designations in shopping, and school areas. Also, entirely too many automobiles were stuck in traffic on Interstate I-40 trying to run-away from the storm. Instead the storm came to them and several died.
While they discuss warmer air flows as a reason for such violent weather, meteorologists still refuse to admit its relevance to Global Warming. Scientific and political leaders must admit what is happening in the earth, and Christians must ask God to give these leaders wisdom. As wholesale Christian t-shirts advise: “He that teacheth man knowledge, shall not He know? (Psalm 94: 10).”
