Legalized Killer Drugs: Death Traps in America’s ‘Pain Clinics’

posted by Dr. Ad Versery Bored @ 0:39 AM
February 24, 2013

oxycotinI once cringed when doctors from Third World countries insisted that practicing physicians in the United States and Europe had sold out their profession to pharmacy and technology companies, but now I wonder if they are not correct.

While the government is resisting the flow and use of illegal drugs, over these same decades, they have encouraged the use of pharmaceutical pain killers across the country.  So-called pain clinics, abundantly prescribing these pills have sprung up everywhere, and are most available in the state of Florida.

Record overdoses of these types of deadly ‘medicines’ have increased every year. Sure, physicians are to prescribe drugs for pain when needed, but such diagnosis should never be made for physician or drug company profits.  Has our profession been seduced into becoming money-makers for drug companies?

Lindsey Tanner and Mike Stobbe, of Associated Press (AP), write:  “Drug overdose deaths rose for the 11th straight year, federal data show, and most of them were accidents involving addictive painkillers despite growing attention to risks from these medicines.

“In 2010, the CDC reported, there were 38,329 drug overdose deaths nationwide. Medicines, mostly prescription drugs, were involved in nearly 60 percent of overdose deaths that year, overshadowing deaths from illicit narcotics.”

CDC (Centers for Disease Control) published its findings in this week’s Journal of the American Medical Association.  As in previous years, opioid drugs––i.e. OxyContin and Vicodin––caused three-fourths of overdose deaths.

Dr. Thomas Frieden, head of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, told AP:  “doctors and patients don’t realize how addictive these drugs can be, and that they’re too often prescribed for pain that can be managed with less risky drugs.  They’re useful for cancer, but if you’ve got terrible back pain or terrible migraines, using these addictive drugs can be dangerous.”

What has happen to my profession?  Is it true that doctors do not know this? Frieden says data indicates a need for more pain-clinicstate-level drug monitoring programs; and that more of these “pill mill-pain clinics” need to be shut down.

Even federal government panels now recommend the same restrictions on Vicodin and similar medications that are on known narcotic drugs like morphine.  But shut down of ‘pill mills’ will be difficult. Tom Collins of Time Magazine says:

“There are more of these pain clinics here in Brossard County [FL] than McDonald’s restaurants: 115 so-called pill mills, vs. about 70 of the burger franchises. . . . [nothing prevents] patients from getting multiple prescriptions . . .  cocaine is no longer king in South Florida. . . . oxycodone now reigns supreme.”

I am flabbergasted by this.  I’ll ask Brothers John, Jude and Michael to add this to their prayer lists.  As we say on wholesale Christian kids t-shirts, prayer still changes things (Philippians 4: 6). If not, our nation awaits God’s severe judgment.

No Food, Bad Food, ‘Modified’ Food––What to Eat?

posted by Frank Butterman Food Inspector @ 19:58 PM
October 1, 2012

The internet is abuzz with stories about bad food; and most of them center around Monsanto Chemical Company’s domination of the world-wide food industry––or should that be ‘genetically modified’ food industry!  But then other stories now explode about bad rice, sickening chickens, poisoned bees, etc.

In ‘Beware! 5 Depressing Stories About Food in the News . . .’ and write:  “As we continue to manipulate nature . . . to ensure our comforts, we put one of our great needs at risk: food.

“Genetically modified [GM] foods—foods developed by altering an animal or plant’s DNA via genetic engineering—most likely make their way onto your dinner plate in the form of corn, tomatoes, potatoes or soybeans. . . a new study states that these GM foods are linked to tumor growth and premature death.”

Mike Ludwig of Truthout adds: “Rats fed a lifetime diet of Monsanto’s genetically engineered corn or exposed to the company’s popular Roundup herbicide developed tumors and suffered severe organ damage, according to a French study . . .”  That two-year study led by Gilles-Eric Séralini at the University of Caen in France found that rats eating GM food or drinking water tainted with Monsanto’s herbicide called ‘Roundup’ had tumors and died at an early age.

RT News Service and Extinction Protocol [EP] write that Russia is so upset about Monsanto’s GM foods that it has halted imports of that company’s GM corn.  Russia also forbids its farmers to plant GM crops.  France also bans GM foods, and both countries are pushing European Union agencies to do the same.

In California Proposition 37 will be on the ballot in the November elections, because activists want GM foods removed from food supplies. Plus, some 2,000 farmers are pushing the U.S. to ‘more thoroughly’ investigate GM crops.

‘Consumer Reports’ says herbicides like ‘Roundup’ so poison the grounds that “high levels of arsenic” is in rice “as well as other rice products such as rice breakfast cereals, rice baby cereal,” etc.  That publication says “. . . arsenic is a Group 1 carcinogen known to cause bladder, lung and skin cancer.”

Alternet and Global Possibilities adds: “Consumer Reports has demanded that the EPA phase out pesticides and fertilizers containing arsenic and that the Food and Drug Administration ban feeding of arsenic-containing drugs to animals.”  They advise that rinsing rice thoroughly may also lesson arsenic.

It is difficult for me to write this story.  As an official food inspector,  I am shocked by these reports.  There is much to do, and I still have not written about mercury in fish, and other reports about contaminated foods on our dinner plates.

And what about the children?  We must put reminders to pray over every meal on wholesale Christian kids t-shirts:  “Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice (Psalm 55: 17).”

Now 43 U.S. Deaths From West Nile Virus

posted by Dr. Ad Versery Bored @ 0:34 AM
August 23, 2012

As of today, August 22, 43 American citizens have died from West Nine Virus.  Cases in the this country have unexpectedly jumped to 1,221 cases of infection from this disease.  About one-half of the cases are in Texas, with most being in Dallas County where officials have been aerial spraying pesticides.

Thirty-eight states now report cases of the virus.  Most are in Texas, with other high numbers in Mississippi, Louisiana, South Dakota and Oklahoma.  Texas has seen 23 deaths and is treating some 640 victims.  Another nine states report the virus in birds and mosquitoes.  Only Alaska, Hawaii and Vermont have not reported cases.

Lyle Petersen, director of the CDC’s Division of Vector-borne Infectious Diseases, announced: “The number of West Nile cases in people has risen dramatically in the last few weeks and indicates that we are in one of the biggest West Nile virus outbreaks we have ever seen in this country.”

Elizabeth Weise of USA Today writes: “The 1,221 cases are the highest number of West Nile virus disease cases reported to the CDC through the third week in August since the virus was first detected in the United States in 1999.”

Reuters reporter, Marice Richter claims:  “Officials are bracing for more cases because West Nile peaks in mid-August and lasts through September. There is often a lag between the time of infection and the appearance of symptoms.”

Some 80% of people who catch West Nile virus show no symptoms at all.   Most of the remaining 20%  show relatively mild symptoms––maybe fever, headache or vomiting, which may last a few days or even a few weeks.

However Elizabeth Cohen, Senior Medical Correspondent for CNN News, explains:  “About one in 150 people infected with West Nile will develop a severe illness, which can include paralysis, coma or death.”  Other symptoms include severe headaches or confusion, which usually requires hospitalization.

Especially vulnerable are people over 50, young children and those with weak immune systems.  There are no medications or vaccines to treat this virus.

Ms. Cohen suggests that during daylight hours, one should use mosquito repellent with DEET, and dress in dark-colored long pants and long sleeves, and be especially careful at dusk and dawn when mosquitoes are most active.
And, as wrote a few days ago, readers must be sure to drain any standing water around the house or yard.  Also, lakes and other standing water should be avoided.

School is starting soon.  Perhaps we should print these instructions on wholesale Christian kids t-shirts.  These mosquito attacks are plagues.  In addition to precautions and medical consultation, Christians must seek God for protection and healing:  “For he had healed many; insomuch that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had plagues (Mark 3: 10).”

100 Killer Tornadoes in Midwest Weekend – More Whacky Weather!!

posted by Wendy Weathersbee @ 15:51 PM
April 17, 2012

Meteorologists say that the types of extreme killer tornadoes tearing through the middle of the nation this weekend will repeatedly hit extended areas of the U.S.  Some 100 tornadoes ripped through five states, and killed six people in Oklahoma. The National Weather Service warns of an especially violent storm season.

Officials add that instead of the usual “Tornado Alley––the plains states of Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota,” boundaries expand “into the South and Midwest.” The weekend storms were also in Wisconsin and Iowa.
Across affected areas balls of hail fell, downed power lines left thousands without electricity, schools closed, uprooted trees covered homes and closed roads, roofs were destroyed, and the American Red Cross opened relief shelters and meals to displaced residents.

AFP News Service cites a report by the CoreLogic research group that now “Florida, Iowa, Louisiana and Mississippi have joined Kansas among the ranks of the most tornado-hit US states.”  Further, CoreLogic states that the tornado risk in the U.S. now extends across the eastern U.S. putting at least 26 states in danger.

The News Service adds:  “It was just the second time in US history that the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center issued a high-risk warning more than 24 hours in advance.”  Those warnings prevented even more deaths.  The National Weather Service also warns that these types of “severe storms”––i.e. rain, wind, lightening, etc.–– are now possible in most of the U.S.

While total costs for this weekend’s damage has not been estimated, Scientific American (SA) says that totals for last month’s tornadoes were over a billion dollars.  Tornadoes in March killed 40 people.

The SA cite says, “From March 2 through the early hours of March 3, 132 tornadoes were reported across nine states, . . . causing more than 1.5 billion in damages.”  However, damage claims may be denied “because tornadoes are ‘atypical‘ events by nature.   SA adds that 2011 was “a record-breaking year for devastation . . .  the United States experienced 14 separate events that caused $1 billion or more in damage.  Five of those events were tornado outbreaks.”

While he never used the term “global warming,” Jake Crouch of the National Climatic Data Center said “atmospheric conditions caused unseasonably warm temperatures . . . across huge swaths of the U. S. allowed warm, moist air up to . . . collide with cold, drier air . . . a key ingredient for severe weather.”

But everyone knows something’s whacky with the weather, and they suspect its Global Warming.  Read what kids are saying on Christian children’s t-shirts : “. . . let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light (Romans 13: 12).”  Our nation must face the truth about Global Warming!

Newspaper Boys & Girls, Intl: All-Animal News Special

posted by Newspaper Boys @ 13:55 PM
March 30, 2012

Ooookay, we ‘younger-than-teen’ newspaper delivery kids said we would go on strike.  No news door to door,  if Ms. Doc Jael don’t let us say somethin’ ‘bout the animals.  Cause if we don’t work, the public don’t get the news.  So she gave in, but now we must do a week of what they call ‘patience submission training.’ Oeyvey!  What we kids must do for the animals, cause you adults sure don’t.
Janet:  Yes, how come it took all these years for you smart grown people to figure out that ‘clothianidin’ pesticide spray is killing the bees?  Environmental News Service (ENS) says that last week “more than a million citizens signed an emergency legal petition” with the EPA to please stop spray killing our bees.

This stuff has been killing bees since 2003.  And Jael’s been writing for years about it.  Don’t you know that without bees, we won’t have food?  Are ya’ll grown ups idiots or what?  Well, need I ask that?

David:  Did ya’ll know that these big grocery stores sell whale meat?  Janet is right! Some o’ this stuff, the gang’s here been writing ‘bout for years.  Why encourage those bullies with big gun boats to kill whales by selling whale meat?  This news outlet’s been yellin’ about whale murder forrreeverrr!

So recently ENS says “tens of thousands of people took action via Twitter, Facebook and HSI’s petition” to tell Jeff Bezos, head of to stop selling whale meat.  So he took “145 food products” with whale meat off the site!  Way to go people! Way to go!

Janet:  En David, did you hear that law makers in New York are trying to stop the sell of shark fins there?  Bout time.  And it should spread across the nation.

Howie:  Well this one’s a Zowie.  Those huge windmills they’re building for a new kind of energy may be killing eagles and bats.  UPI and say that windmills and the birds depend on the same air currents.  Its a big problem for these animals cause the wind power people want the right to “harm” the birds.

Annie:  Our newspaper boys and girls in Britain tweeted that thousands of lambs are dying in England and Europe and scientists don’t know why.  Baby lambs are either born dead or come with such crocked bodies that they cannot live.
David:  We’s got to follow up on that one Annie. It’s like in Tennessee horses and cattle are dying mysteriously and the docs can’t figure out why.

Older Teen:  That’s enough ‘bout animals you guys.  Ya’ll complained your way into havin’ your say.  But you got to get to Dr. Repriestly’s ‘patience and submission’ class NOW.  We all got to learn to submit to God’s order of authority.

Your wholesale Christian kids t-shirts from Colossians 1: 11 say believers are strengthened by “patience and longsuffering with joyfulness.”  All you guys do is complain about the animals.  And complaining all the time ain’t being joyful.

Older Teens Take Over This All-Kids Animal News Edition

posted by Newspaper Boys @ 9:47 AM
March 22, 2012

HURRY!  HURRY! HURRY!  Get the latest news from us, the Newspaper Boys and Girls Association, Intl (NBGI).  The younger kids are on sort of a strike cause we ain’t done no animal stories lately. So us older ones are in charge.

They knows it’s so much going on everywhere, but they still say the boss must give more assignments ‘bout animals, hungry sea life, beached dolphins, exploding pythons, and stuff.  So I promised to pass it on!

But first, let’s start with our classified section.  Our staff still needs to fill the position for an “Outer Space Science Person.”  Now we need a sound and military specialist to investigate these eerie sounds disturbing people in the U.S. and elsewhere.

OK, as for everyone else:  Dr. Jael is working on our sister blog:  Boy, the stuff there is new, exciting and a bit scary.  You ought to check it out real soon.

Information keeps flowing into Ally I. Feermeno about Japan’s nuclear radiation-earthquake-volcano problems.  She is also working on recent leaks at nuclear power plants in the U.S. and other countries, as well as on Russia’s recent threats to use nukes in the next war––and that in view of the fact that Russia has moved its armament to Syria to aid in oppressing the people there.
As they keep up with new diseases appearing and reappearing across the globe, Maleekie Ambularie and Ad Versery Bored are bracing for attacks of Lyme disease from “black-legged ticks” in the northeastern United States.  Also, they are preparing a full report on what they say is a soon to  come global water shortages.

And they are working with Mr. Butterman on population starvations, food shortages, food poisons and geo-engineered foods trial for world-wide food needs.

Sarah Newsworthy and Wendy Weathersbee are working overtime to cover what they call “weird weather everywhere.”  But Sarah is turning weather news over to Wendy this summer ‘cause she expects an outbreak of volcano explosions and earthquakes as the earth poles tilt more and more.

While they have prayer meetings, John, Jude and the prayer partners are stressing the urgency of prayer in these last days.  And Rev. Repriestly is too.

And Ida B. Wells, IV keeps a watchful eye on the U.S. economy as well as on fragile economies in Europe and other countries.  But she says look out!  Something big is going to blast open financial markets sooner than we think!

In fact, all of us feel that way.  Our news carrier kids around the world all say they are holding their breath, waiting for the next “big one.”  All of us––reporters and delivery boys and girls––sense 2012 is going to be the year that all of everything breaks out.  But our leaders, Jael and Rev. Repriestly, remind us always to wear wholesale Christian kids t-shirts that talk about faith, cause whatever happens, we got to remember that “the just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10: 38).”

Another Casualty from Summer’s Heatwave: Unclean Natural Waters

posted by Jael Ever @ 10:24 AM
July 29, 2011

Let’s be clear about this:  Do not swim or play in green algae water with green algae floating on top!  Do not believe the hype that green algae in water is harmless!  The algae showing up in lakes, rivers, ponds and streams across the country is caused by extremely hot weather, with lots of sunshine, little or no wind, even less rain, and non-receding flood waters––all resulting in too much unhealthy stagnant non-flowing water.   While bureaucrats in charge of the public’s health in countries like China claim the algae is harmless, those in this country disagree.

Tom Langer, Director of the bureau of Environmental Health in the Kansas Department of Health and Environment tells Aleese Kopf, Kansas City Star reporter, “We have seen a unique set of factors this year combine to make perfect conditions for algae blooms.”  Langer says that the department has had a significant increase in the number of health complaints after people visit Kansas water sites.  “Symptoms can range from a sore throat or cough to itchy skin and vomiting.”  But so far there have been no serious illnesses.  However, these algae blooms can also harm dogs, cattle and other animals that drink the water.  Langer is also receiving reports for dead fish pilling up from “not harmful” algae.  Pointing out that treating algae with chemicals is expensive and impractical, Langer also says that algae blooms typify poor water quality.

Moreover, in its recent publication “Blue-Green Algae (Cyanobacteria) Blooms,” the California Department of Public Health ratchets upward the risks that blue-green algae blooms bring:  “Exposure to blue-green algae can cause rashes, skin and eye irritation, allergic reactions, gastrointestinal upset, and other effects.  At high levels, exposure can result in serious illness or death.”  These health workers further add that the type of bloom and length of exposure can also cause liver toxicity and promote the growth of tumors.  They also add that several dogs and otters have died after drinking the blue-green algae water.

Further, California officials report: “There aren’t any drinking water standards specifically for blue-green algae.”  So have no body contact whatsoever with blue-green algae blooms, no swimming, wading or water-skiing.  These rules especially start with children, and move up to adults.  Let’s make this simple:  Stay away from all blue-green algae water!  And, oh yes, also don’t eat any fish that come out of it!  And this also includes water that appears to be all green!

So Play Safe This Summer! Dress the kids in Christian childrens t-shirts and take them to well-sanitized swimming pools for outings and vacations.  And be sure to tell others about Jesus this summer in order to avoid Jeremiah’s lament:  “The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and we are not saved (8: 20).”

Ocean Trash Comes Home to Roost: America’s Sick Beaches

posted by Jael Ever @ 10:33 AM
July 18, 2011

Across the nation, beaches in the United States are more polluted than ever.  The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) advises local authorities to close many beach areas as they are dangerously polluted.  While sources of bad bacteria vary, most comes from storm-water runoffs, poorly or non-treated discharges from sewage treatment plants, impurities from sanitary sewers, septic systems and decayed wildlife––along with beach campers who make the sands their private toilets and industrial chemicals and other deadly discards (pesticides, agricultural,  industrial waste, etc.) that corporate trash collectors have dumped illegally in oceans for years.  Some of these corruptions now ride waves back home to roost.

According to Noaki Schwartz of the Associated Press, this year’s NRDC Report used data from 3,000 locations across the United States in order to report that: “beaches are often closed because monitoring services detect the presence of bacteria [indicating] pathogens—microscopic organisms from human and animal wastes that pose a threat to human health.”  Although some suspect the dangers trace back to last year’s BP oil spill, NRDC says this usually is not the case.

While 11 of California’s beaches had high levels of bacteria, Louisiana, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan top state-wide lists.  Health Day reporters, Randy Dotinga and Steven Reinberg, claim that in 2010 “the most frequently  contaminated beaches in 2010 was the Great Lakes––15 percent of water samples violated public health standards.”  On the other hand, Delaware, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Hawaii and Virginia had the cleanest beaches.  Those wishing to see test results for their area should check with the 21st annual Testing the Waters: A Guide to Water Quality at Vacation Beaches.

Infested beaches can cause serious illnesses including gastrointestinal and respiratory sicknesses, stomach flu, skin rashes, pinkeye, ear/nose/throat problems, dysentery, hepatitis, neurological disorders, etc.  Nancy Stoner, NRDC’s water program co-director, advises beach goers not to “swim after a heavy rainfall. Wait at least 24 hours,” as heavy rains carry pollutants from dirty storm water and overflowing sewage into streams and rivers.  Of course, eventually those ill-fed waters soon make their way to seas––which may eventually bring them back.

So clad the young in Christian childrens t-shirts to wear in swimming pools, not in public beaches.  Of course, this blog notes repeatedly that if it were not for Global Warming, there would not be so much excess rain to overburden drainage systems.  And Earth End writers often expose the horrors of trash, plastics and chemicals corporate waste controllers have dumped in the world’s seas for decades.  Psalms 69: 34 explains that God made seas to praise him––”Let the heaven and earth praise Him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein,” not to receive man’s trash.  No wonder the seas send man’s trash back home to roost!

More Record Breaking Summer Heat With New Diseases, Part 2

posted by Jael Ever @ 14:44 PM
July 12, 2011

To continue yesterday’s discussion about diseases that horrific summer heat brings to unsuspecting sun bathers, mountain hikers, and other adventurous vacationers––be careful, more attacks are yet to come!  The Associated Press reported yesterday:  “The temperature setting is stuck on broil across a swath of the Midwest and South,” with some regions “broiling” for over ten days and no relief in sight.  And that includes temperatures as high as 115 degrees.  Moreover, as Andrew Freedman of the Washington Post points out, the omen of flooding still looms over the Midwest, while severe drought conditions persist in the South.

June broke all-time high heat records in some regions of the country, but July promises to break even those records.  Of course, it is individuals who have no air conditioning or out-side cooling down activities that suffer most.  Because of budget-crunches, many cities have closed public swimming pools; and often, only badly-strapped private aid organizations are left to tend for lower-income senior citizens, the homeless and “out-of-school-with-nothing-to-do” children and teens.  As they look for “fun” activities these youths are vulnerable to insect diseases.

A now well-known insect disease, more common than the Babesiosis germ spread by ticks, discussed here yesterday, and Ehrichiosis, along with Anaplasmosis, both to be covered here tomorrow, is Lyme disease.  Named after the town in Lyme, Connecticut, where the bug was discovered, “Lyme disease is the most common vector-borne illness in the United States,” according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).  It is more common than any other tick-carrying germ, or any sickness transferred by fleas or mosquitoes.  The year 2009 alone saw some 30,000 cases of Lyme disease in the United States.

Dr. Anusha Belani, an epidemiologist and infectious disease specialist, explains that the “Onset of Lyme can begin with an expanding ‘bull’s-eye’ rash . . . , and be accompanied by flu-like symptoms including body ache and fever.”  It must be treated with antibiotics.  “If left untreated, Lyme can lead to meningitis, arthritis and neurological complications,” Dr. Belani said.  Thus, dress young folk in wholesale Christian kids t-shirts; keep them away from tall grasses, dense bushes and wooded areas;  and carefully examine them for ticks.
Knowledge about such dangers is crucial in these last days of mankind’s experience on planet earth.  As stated in yesterday’s blog, conditions will only get worse.  Mushrooming populations of deadly disease-bearing insects coming with excessively hot weather is the new norm of the 21st century.  The sketch rehearsal for these end-times was Israel’s escape from slavery in Egypt.  Three of the ten plagues God used to force the emancipation of the Jews were insect invasions. They caused pharaoh’s magicians to admit it was the finger of God. (Exodus chapters 8 to 10).  Pray to God that repentant people today will admit the same.

Enjoy Life While You Can For Time Is Running Out

posted by Jael Ever @ 15:31 PM
June 23, 2011

Summertime and the livin’ is easy . . . so folks in this country had best enjoy such good living now, for time is quickly eroding many other opportunities for such easy livin’ good times.  Discounting state-wide wild fires, raging tornadoes galavanting across the country, and roaring floods swallowing whole towns, weather this summer has so-far been rather mild.  But get ready, the worse may be yet to come.  (Of course, this site had a blog a few days ago about ever increasing violent winds, as can be seen by the “endless” wind-driven brush fires in Arizona.)

For instance, this year’s hurricane season, which began on June 1st, will not end until November.  And, according to Wikipedia, weather experts at Colorado State University and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) predict that this year’s hurricane activity will be above-average, “with 17 named storms, nine hurricanes, and five major hurricanes.”  They also cite “a higher chance for storms to make landfall in the United States than in 2010.”  Insurance experts at the University College of London agree.  They predict that “tropical cyclone activity could be about 40% above the 1950–2010 average.”

Other forecasters also predict an above-normal hurricane season. The   Weather Wiz Kids assert:  “Climate factors considered for this outlook are:  The continuing high activity era. Since 1995, the tropical multi-decadal signal has brought ocean and atmospheric conditions conducive for development in sync, leading to more active Atlantic hurricane seasons.”

Moreover, in his blog, Paul Yeager, author of Weather Whys: Facts, Myths, and Oddities, writes:  “Expect hotter-than-average weather in the South and cooler-than-average weather in parts of the Plains, Midwest, and Tennessee Valley, with less precipitation than normal in the Pacific Northwest and northern Rockies.”  So farmers expecting “rain in the plains” will be very disappointed.  Likewise, planting in the south will swelter under unusually oppressive heat.  These developing trends undoubtedly will result in higher food costs this fall.

Thus, while lulling around this summer, it is a good time to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables by canning them in anticipation of the storms to come;  and also to get some flood insurance from FEMA at  And, of course in both happy and unhappy times, believers must always remember what Nehemiah 8: 10 says:  that “the joy of The Lord is our strength,” regardless of the weather.  So, while the kids wade through pools and sprinklers, be sure to cover them with Christian childrens t-shirts when cooler weather comes.  And parents and Summer Bible School workers should also be sure to lead the precious ones into God’s eternal protection in the never-failing ark of safety, where they will find comfort in times when the worse storms of life occur.
