Another way Chinese nationalists can become American citizens is the relatively unknown State Department ‘buy citizenship’ program for million/billionaires from around the world. Most taking part, however, are from China.
James O’Toole of CNN Money writes: “Under the government’s EB-5 Immigrant Investor program, foreign investors can get conditional visas that allow them and their families to live, work and attend school in the U.S. To qualify for the visa, they must invest at least $1 million in a new or recently created business, or $500,000 for businesses in rural or high-unemployment areas.”
The State Department expected 6,000 ‘investor visas’ in the 2012-13 fiscal year. “Our goal is certainly job creation, and that’s what this program is all about . . . it’s allowing somebody from a foreign country to come and invest in our nation,” says Bill Wright of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Investors must prove they created or preserved 10 full-time jobs for U.S. workers over two years. Once established, investors and their families move to permanent resident status, and can apply for full citizenship in three years.
A study from the Center for China and Globalization and the Beijing Institute of Technology reports: “150,000 Chinese––most of them wealthy––emigrated to other countries in 2011. While that number may not seem high for a country of more than a billion people, the flight of China’s richest––and the offshoring of their fortunes––could cost the country jobs and economic growth.”
The Wall Street Journal estimates some $ 225 billion flowed out of China in 2012. CNBC Reporter, Robert Frank establishes: “The United States was the top destination for wealthy Chinese in 2011, according to the report. Canada and Australia came second and third.
“The United States had granted 87,000 permanent resident permits to Chinese nationals in 2011. Of those, 3,340 were approved through special investment visas, which allows wealthy foreigners to apply for American citizenship if they agree to invest more than $500,000 on job-creation projects. The program has become largely Chinese, with more than more than two thirds of all of the visas granted going wealthy citizens of mainland.”
Seattle Times reporter Sanjay Bhatt reveals: “China’s superrich, who have historically been drawn to San Francisco, Los Angeles and Vancouver, B.C., are investing in Seattle-area real estate in growing numbers, buying multimillion-dollar homes, rent-producing properties and land for commercial development.”
In a copious article, she establishes: 1) Chinese purchasers pay all cash, even for purchases over $ 2 million; 2) They quickly squeeze out other buyers qualifying for financing or offering lower prices; 3) They sometimes pay hundreds of thousands more for properties than the original listing price; 4) The number of Chinese buyers has increased as much as 50% since 2007, etc.
Like we said in Part 1, ‘kudos’ to this nation’s politicians who opened trade talks years ago in order to make China richer and Americans poorer. If that was their goal, they surely accomplished it. Now let’s go out and vote for them again, so they can give away what’s left of the good ‘old’ U.S.A.!
Once again proving ‘we are all equal’ Communism fails, and Capitalism which sells out its own country is on the verge of failing also. As for the creators of the EB-5 investor immigration program, wholesale Christian books explains: “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools (Romans 1: 22)”
Doc Ad Versary: Let us be clear about this: Unless it is an emergency, Stay Home! Try to seal the doors and windows there from cold air. Keep the warm air heat on as much as possible. And bundle up as much as possible even in doors.
Let Me Repeat! This is serious weather. It is not play on the sled, build snowmen weather. As Bruce Gordon of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety told USA Today: “It gets cold in Minnesota, but we are talking about historic cold in the coming days.”
This is ‘stay indoors and stay warm’ weather. Streets and freeways are ice. As USA Today adds: “Sunday through Tuesday, a cold air mass from the north will chill two-thirds of the U.S., leaving parts of the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast with single-digit highs and cities such as Chicago and Minneapolis with temperatures of 20 to 30 degrees below zero.
“That’s before factoring in the wind chill, which is expected to make sections of the north-central states feel as chilly as 50 to 60 degrees below zero.” Records of low temperatures in cities around the country are now broken.
Wendy Weathersbee: Most important: Let us say it again. Stay Home! Do Not Drive. Keep all types of emergency aids in the car, i.e.: battery chargers, flat tire inflator, portable heaters, extra blankets, extra bottles of water, emergency food stuffs, fully-charged cell phone, cell-phone charger, extra warm clothing in case you are stuck outside for long periods, as in a traffic jam, etc.
Have a good spare tire, and a car jack. See what we mean? Best to stay home! As it gets warmer this week, if you don’t have those things, purchase them then. Also get hand and foot warmers. This vicious cold weather is coming back!
Doc Ad Versary: Why do we sound hysterical? It’s because extreme freezing temperatures can greatly harm your body. As Dr. Steven Doerr from Medicine.net writes: “People who become stranded outdoors can also become victims of frostbite. The areas of the body affected by frostbite feel cold and firm. Burning, tingling, stinging, or numbing sensations may be present.
“Clumsiness can result from impaired motor control. When the affected body part is rewarmed, a throbbing or burning pain may result. Cold weather-related injuries include chilblains, trench foot, frost nip, and frostbite.”
Wendy Weathersbee: So when going outside even for a short while, dress in layers of clothing: protect your self from hypothermia, frostbite and other serious health problems. And eat warm wholesome foods, such as hot soups, cooked vegetables, etc. Wear mittens and/or gloves based on warmth, not just fashion.
Have your city or county emergency number to call, in case of a power outage. And keep dog walks brief; consider keeping that pet warmer with a coat. Also, please check on senior citizens and the handicapped.
Doc Ad Versary: This is why Apostle Paul told his young assistant in wholesale Christian books: “Do thy diligence to come before winter. . . (2 Timothy 4: 21)” and another assistant, “ . . . be diligent to come unto me to Nicopolis: for I have determined there to winter (Titus 3: 12).” Paul understood that winters are the time of year to stay put! He set that example for us. So Stay Indoors!!
In order to defeat a Prime Minister who tried to protect his country against affects of Global Warming, winning opponent, Tony Abbott, based his campaign on the premise that Global Warming is a hoax designed to interfere with continuing corporate business wealth. These denials boomerang into unparalleled brush fires!
Tabbott’s positions embolden both children and military leaders to commit ferocious dangers igniting some of those fires. Two boys, ages 11 and 15, are arrested, accused of starting fires destroying thousands of acres.
As the nation’s leader casually dismisses Global Warming, his military may also. legitgov.org writes: “Defense live ordnance activity” is thought responsible for three fires . . . “there are links between Defense, explosive” and fires.
Current brush fires have eviscerated over 200 homes at an estimated cost of $ 90 million. One person has died, and damages are expected to overwhelm present records set. Hazes of smoke and ash blanket the capital city of Sydney, where citizens suffer breathing problems, while anxiously waiting for fires to reach them.
Shane Fitzsimmons, Fire Commissioner of New South Wales––where 62 separate fires now burn––warned that today would be the most dangerous in the current week of fires, and that they would not be able to save all homes:
“The temperature will be in the mid to high 30s (90 degrees Fahrenheit), humidity down to 10% and wind strengths of 80 to 100km/h [160 mph].” He closed all schools and child care centers, and urged residents to leave the area.
Citing that danger levels are at the highest possible, firefighters claim: “. . . outbreaks could merge to create a ‘mega blaze’ west of Sydney. . . . New South Wales . . . is facing an ‘unparalleled’ emergency.
Meanwhile, as Global Warming results decimate his nation, Aussie’s militant Prime Minister, Tony Abbott, still adamantly denies it exists. When Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, insists on a like between his nation’s fires and Global Warming, Abbot says she is “talking through her hat,” and that “fire has been part of the Australian experience since humans first came to that continent.”
Former Vice President Al Gore, buffoons that position, likening it to tobacco companies denying that its product causes lung cancer: “And bush fires can occur naturally and do, but the science shows clearly that when the temperature goes up and when the vegetation and soils dry out, then wildfires become more pervasive and more dangerous.”
In contrast to Abbott, his predecessor, Kevin Rudd, called climate change (Global Warming) the “greatest moral, economic and social challenge of our time.” And the Labor Party leader who ruled before Judd even tried to enact a carbon tax to lessen that nation’s tendencies for such fires.
So guess which leaders deserve God’s rewards for protecting their citizens and telling them the truth! As wholesale Christian books repeatedly warn: “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy (Proverbs 29: 1.”
While, compared to 2011 losses, international insurance rates were lower last year, losses in the United States in 2012 topped those of any other country. Munich Re insurance statistics find that 67% of the world’s losses were in the U.S.
Munich Re’s report on 2012 catastrophes estimates: “With regard to the 2012 loss statistics, Hurricane Sandy alone accounted for some US$ 50bn in overall losses, while the insured losses are expected to be around US$ 25bn.”
The international insurance report says further: “The second major loss event of 2012 was the summer-long drought in the USA that plagued the Corn Belt in the Midwest and surrounding states, where most of the USA’s main agricultural crops, corn and soybean, are grown.” 2012 was the hottest U.S. year since 1895:
“Only in the Dust Bowl years, from 1934–1936, had yields been decimated by a worse drought. Nearly half of the USA’s arable acreage was hit by the 2012 event. The overall agricultural crop losses in the USA in 2012 totaled around US$ 20bn . . . making it the biggest loss in US agricultural insurance history.”
Prof. Peter Höppe, Head of Munich Re’s Geo Risks Research, advises that Climate Change (i.e. Global Warming) will continue to bring such devastations: “These two catastrophes clearly demonstrate the type of events we can expect to contend with more often in the future. . .
“ . . . numerous studies assume a rise in summer drought periods in North America in the future and an increasing probability of severe cyclones relatively far north along the US East Coast in the long term.”
Because “The rise in sea level caused by Climate Change will further increase the risk of storm surge,” Munich Re advises cities and states along the East Coast of the U.S. to be better prepared for such wreckage.
It is of course shameful that German record keepers must advise the U.S.––reportedly the richest country in the world––to be better prepared for nature’s destruction. Is that because this nation’s leaders ‘ignore’ Global Warming?
Is it chance that such reports get little attention in U.S. media, which also failed to acknowledge that in 2012 Typhoon Bopha killed over 1,000 people in the Philippines? Why do so few American’s know we broke disaster records last year?
The media are the country’s watchmen. Wholesale Christian books in Isaiah 21: 6: instruct “ . . . Go, set a watchman, let him declare what he seeth.” Media must break its hold from the government’s or further judgment will come.
While national media focuses on whether or not China’s dreaded new Bird Flu H7N9 is coming to the U.S., several new and old health problems already threaten this country: TB, whooping cough, measles, other strains of flu, etc.
Supposedly in Los Angeles to investigate an outbreak of tuberculosis (TB) in the Skid Row, federal health officials have left that area without comment. Hayley Fox of blogdowntown.com writes:
“In February, health officials reported that 60 homeless people had been infected with this particular strain of TB since 2007—and 11 had died.” Anna Gorman and Andrew Blankstein of the Los Angeles Times add: “Sixty of the 78 cases were among homeless people who live on and around Skid Row.
“Health workers have identified about 4,650 people who were probably exposed and are trying to track them down for testing and treatment. Scientists have recently linked the outbreak to a tuberculosis strain that is unique to Los Angeles, with a few isolated cases outside the area.”
That urban Skid Rows have transitory street dwellers is a major problem. Homeless, they have poor hygiene, little access to health care and live in close proximity to others where an airborne disease, such as TB, is easily breathed in.
And while China grapples with H7N9, it should take a look at its own outbreak of spreading TB. According to The Extinction Protocol, “China faces a ‘serious epidemic’ of drug-resistant tuberculosis . . . In China, over one million new tuberculosis infections occur each year––a large chunk of the estimated nine million new cases worldwide annually.”
“The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has dispatched scientists to Los Angeles to help local health officials determine why the disease is spreading and how to stop it.” Meanwhile, even the CDC admit that cases of whooping cough (pertussis) are on the increase in the U.S.: “Compared to 2010, fewer pertussis cases were reported in 2011.
“As of January 10, 2013, 49 states and Washington, D.C. had increased pertussis cases or outbreaks compared with 2011. . . our surveillance system indicate that more than 41,000 cases of pertussis were reported to CDC during 2012. . . [and] 18 pertussis-related deaths during 2012 . . .”
CDC recommends that vaccines for whooping cough are boosted immediately––as they include effectiveness for tetanus and diphtheria as well. And they say the same for safeguards against rising rates of mumps and measles.
If the U.S. is to continue to be a comparatively healthy nation, its political leaders, health authorities and the general public should return to wholehearted devotion and obedience to The Most High God Who promises in wholesale Christian books: “Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth (Jeremiah 33:6).”
We usually don’t cover stories that get full press exposure unless coverage would give readers warnings about future events. But Exxon’s outrageous behavior during its recent oil spill in Arkansas is one of those times that we sound warning!
First, Exxon has slammed the door shut on all outgoing information––including photography from flights overhead––and the Federal Aviation Administration threw a no-fly zone over the entire area of the oil flood.
But video-journalist Adam Randall managed to shoot a five-minute long record of this broken pipeline before the new ‘laws’ were passed. He posted it on You Tube on April 2, three days after the flood broke. Later such flights were approved only if an Exxon employee is appointed flight coordinator.
About further suppression of news, Rachel Colyer of Daily Kos reports: “On the ground, reporters are being kept at a great distance from the actual site. Those who have tried to gain further access have been escorted away by security, threatened with arrest, and told to leave by local law enforcement.”
Second, however, the major press usually avoids explicitly telling the public that oil from this broken pipeline’s is very similar to the thick tar sands oil for which Canadian refineries want to build pipelines in the U.S. to bring tar-oil here.
Americans have no idea just how much oil is spilling down main streets of this Arkansas suburb. EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) says some 7,000 barrels of the slime have pumped out, but Exxon insists 3,000 is more accurate.
Third, no matter how much oil is flowing from 70 year-old pipeline, its stench brings breathing problems to those residences still in the neighborhood. People remaining there––after 22 families in homes along the ruptured lines were evacuated to hotels––now complain of multiple illnesses coming from toxic air.
In ‘Arkansas Oil Spill Health Complaints Emerge In Mayflower,’ Lynne Peeples quotes April Lane, chair of a local school health and safety advisory group: “A lot of the released chemicals––benzene, hydrogen sulfide, toluene––are still extremely toxic, especially to children, the elderly and pregnant women, . . .” She says Exxon’s crude tests cannot detect harmful poisons in the air.
Fourth: Questions! Who gave Exxon the right to arrest American journalists in order to obstruct truth? When did Americans elect Exxon into office to decree acceptable levels of Americans’ health? And what does this suppression of truth have to do with the Keystone XL pipeline proposed to come down from Canada? Is the breaking pipe in Arkansas an omen for what Keystone would also bring?
Often called ‘the fourth estate,’ journalists have sworn duties as watchmen to warn nations of pending doom. As wholesale Christian Bibles insist, nations should ask journalists: “Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night? (Isaiah 21: 11)?” Journalists are among the few who can bring light to situations covered by man-made night!
While formation the European Union gave most of the nations a common currency, and open borders as unifying symbols, it did not not enthuse joint standards of culture, civil and criminal law. What one nation in that Union sees as both culturally acceptable, another may not. Now officials are in a quandary over food––horsemeat to be specific. Some EU nations find that meat, not just acceptable but a delicacy, and others find the very idea of eating horses repugnant.
Some food industries within that Union ‘solved’ the matter by slipping horsemeat into frozen foods, and labeling them 100% beef. As legal trails unravel throughout the EU, citizens in the United Kingdom are outraged at the food lies.
On Friday, in ‘Horsemeat Scandal: Traces Found in School Dinners and Hospital Meals,’ authors Matthew Taylor, Damian Carrington and Felicity Lawrence in the ‘U.K. Guardian’ announced that horsemeat has indeed been found in meats in schools, hospitals, and supermarkets in the United Kingdom:
“Rogue horsemeat was . . . identified in school dinners and hospital meals. Officials from the Food Standards Agency confirmed new police raids on three more companies. . . spread to public sector caters and major restaurant chains . . . “In Lancashire cottage pies destined for 47 schools across the county were withdrawn after testing positive for horsemeat. It was not clear how long the contaminated food had been on the menu. . . In Northern Ireland burgers bound for hospitals were withdrawn after officials confirmed they contained equine DNA. Food giant Compass, which supplies over 7000 sites in the UK including schools and hospitals, said a burger product it supplied to two colleges and a small number of offices in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland had tested positive.”
Moreover, horses slaughtered in England, but shipped to France may have included a banned substance, poisonous to humans, phenylbutazone, known as bute. Late last week, Stephen Castle of The New York Times headlines, ‘Britain Says Equine Drug May Have Entered Food Chain:‘ “The British Food Standards Agency said that it had checked the carcasses of 206 horses slaughtered in Britain between Jan. 30 and Feb. 7. Of these, eight tested positive for the drug.”
So far U.K. news outlets have not mentioned prisons, jails or nursing homes. But as food in elementary schools is contaminated, undoubtedly it reached those institutions for the less fortunate even beforehand.
Beef contaminated with horsemeat was sold at Burger King and Aldi Foods in the U.K. and E.U.––both of which are heavily franchised in the United States. One must wonder at what point will the U.S. Food and Drug Administration start testing frozen foods and meats in our own shores.
Never in God’s Holy Word is it accepted that men should eat horses. He sets standards for animal meats, fish and fowl for people to eat: “These are the beasts which ye shall eat. . . Whatsoever parteth the hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat (Leviticus 11: 2-3).” As wholesale Christian books point out––horses do not fit these guidelines!
George Herming, a spokesman for the prime minister of the Solomon Islands told the Associated Press (AP) of Sydney, Australia (AP) and the guardian.co.uk that the quake hit the western side of Santa Cruz island, damaging some 80 properties and leaving several people missing, and presumed dead.
Solomon Islands Police Commissioner John Lansley told AP, “Sadly, we believe some people have lost their lives. At the moment we potentially know of four, but there may of course be more.”
The Solomon Islands are east of Indonesia and Australia. All South Pacific nations were placed on alert. AP adds, “disaster teams are working to reach the remote area and assist with search and rescue efforts. So far, their arrival has been hindered by the tsunami, which flooded left the airport littered with debris.”
The following tsunami flooded the airport and at least four villages were hit, two severely. As soon as the Pacific area alarms went off, people began moving to higher ground, which helped to keep the number of casualties down.
Sydney’s AP says: “The Solomons comprise more than 200 islands with a population of about 552,000 people. The islands lie on the “Ring of Fire” – an arc that stretches around the Pacific rim and where about 90% of the world’s quakes occur.” The U.S. geological survey adds that the “quake struck 81 km (50 miles) west of Lata at a depth of 28.7 km (17 miles).”
News outlets rushed to cover this quake as it is in the same area where a 8.1 quake killed some 50 persons and and destroyed thousands of homes in 2007. Because islands-wide alarm systems were not in place, the United States sent two former Presidents to oversee reconstruction and sufficient alarm systems installed.
sciencemediacentre.co.nz reports scientists expected the damage and number of deaths to be far worst: “oh no, here we go again, this will be a bad one,” one geologists estimated. Professor James Goff, Director of the Tsunami and Natural Hazards Research Group at the University of New South Wales, summarizes:
“This part of the Solomon Islands is in a particularly active part of the boundary between the Australian and Pacific Plates, and has seen a swarm of earthquakes recently. In geological terms, this is hot on the heels of the 2007 event that occurred in the Western Province––an area of different plate boundaries and different activity, but in reality we know very little about the long-term earthquake and tsunami activity of the entire Solomon Islands region . . .
Wholesale Christian books warns that in these last days, we must be ever ready for such catastrophes: “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh (Luke 21: 28).”
Is there anything other than economic unity that seems to hold Europe together? And are economic interests alone strong enough to maintain that Union, or is the Union itself a myth that may accommodate cross-continent travel, and the economic interest of generally northern European countries?
In ‘Where’s Charlemagne When We Need Him?,’ Isitvan Deak asserts “The trouble is that the European Union (EU) presently exists mainly for its elites––politicians, businessmen, professionals, academics and top students––who can cross borders with ease.” Thus, economic class is still Europe’s great divider.
Deak goes deeper: “It is not yet the Europe of the vast majority of people who have trouble with languages and for whom finding employment abroad is quite difficult. . . . Archduke Otto Hapsburg . . . warned that economic cooperation alone would not satisfy the peoples of Europe and that European unification could not succeed unless it was imbued with an abstract principle.”
The Archduke said that only a mystical movement, such as the Holy Roman Empire, can give Europeans enough euphoric hope and renewal to overcome “the pernicious effects of local interest, chauvinism, xenophobia and racism.” The Catholic Church insists it is the EU’s spiritual force as a precursor to re-establishing that Holy Roman Empire. But its scandals, and low numbers in church attendance do not inspire hope.
Because some EU countries, such as Spain and Greece, now sink deeper into economic depressions, their people go to other nations in the ‘Union,’ looking for work, only to find two barriers: 1) They cannot speak or understand the language of their ‘host’ country; and 2) The ‘host’ country selfishly ostracizes them as unwanted vagrants, only there to prey upon the ‘host’s’ wealth.
All of which is evidence of a lack of collective concern in the EU––i.e. unless nations have past ethnic or cultural ties, most have little sense of concern about how events in a nation 1,000 miles across the continent affects them. And, as with Greece, too often the sentiment is if nations don’t conform to EU rules––simply put such trifling countries out of the ‘Union.’
If what holds Europe together is purely financial connections, leaders of individual nations do not understand why they must give up sovereign rule over their countries just to borrow funds from EU financial institutions. They had assumed such loans would be based on usual promises to repay. Trusting Germany and other richer nations, these leaders apparently never imagined that these loans would mean wealthier nations would rule over them.
If only they had been taught historical books of the Old Testament which warns: “The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender (Proverbs 22: 7).”
In my last blog, I wrote that Japanese officials admitted they had lied to their people about radiation danger. I didn’t write when scientists warned Japan not to restart nuclear plants. They restarted one anyway. But I must blog now. An official panel concludes that Fukushima occurred because of government, regulators and industry ‘collusion,’ all part of inbred Japanese culture.
After investigating six month with 900 hours of hearings and 1,100 interviews, the Fukushima Nuclear Accident Independent Investigation Commission concluded this deadly nuclear blunder could have been avoided.
Kiyoshi Kurokawa, the Commission’s Chairman and former head of Tokyo University’s Department of Medicine, wrote: “It was a profoundly man-made disaster that could and should have been foreseen and prevented. And its effects could have been mitigated by a more effective human response.”
The report states: “Across the board, the Commission found ignorance and arrogance unforgivable for anyone or any organization that deals with nuclear power. We found a disregard for global trends and a disregard for public safety.”
A really telling blow is the Commission’s conclusion that officials lied when placing plant damage on the tsunami, instead of on the earthquake. If officials were to admit that the earthquake caused nuclear plants to leak, it would lead to the end of nuclear energy there as the island is so prone to earthquakes.
“However, it is impossible to limit the direct cause of the accident to the tsunami without substantive evidence. The Commission believes that this is an attempt to avoid responsibility by putting all the blame on the unexpected (the tsunami), . . . and not on the more foreseeable quake,” the report concludes.
In “Commission Calls Fukushima Nuclear Crisis a Man-Made Disaster,” for The New York Times, Hiroko Tabuchi adds: “Even though the government-appointed Nuclear Safety Commission revised earthquake resistance standards in 2006 and ordered nuclear operators around the country to inspect their reactors, for example, TEPCO did not carry out any checks, and regulators did not follow up.”
The Commission concludes: TEPCO, the government and regulators “betrayed the nation’s right to safety from nuclear accidents. . . TEPCO manipulated its cozy relationship with regulators to take the teeth out of regulations.” How much do these cozy relationships with regulators sound like Sarah Newsworthy’s recent reports on power companies in the mid-Atlantic?
What did Sarah say about negligent manslaughter? Does she not agree with Apostle Paul who writes in used Christian Bibles, “Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for . . . manslayers (1 Timothy 1: 9).” Perhaps, only when The LORD returns will some men pay for such crimes as these.
