Why, Oh Why, Can’t We Do It Too?

Several countries in the Western hemisphere, as well as China, are making much greater strides toward renewal and safer energies than the United States.   Although it is going through massive austerity measures, Britain recently announced an official government goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 percent by 2025.  And that goal is even more ambitious than the European Union’s official plan to reduce emissions by 20 percent by 2020.  Denmark even now has a total “green” economy and environment.  Germany has vowed to shut down all nuclear power plants within the next decade, and to continue to invest in green energy plans.  And the neighbor to the north of the U.S. has already begun projects that will produce heat and fuel using common household waste.

Canada announced this week that several corporate investors have put funds into their program of turing garbage into fuel for automobiles.  In one example, a company called Enerkem has a 25-year contract to receive all types of municipal waste.  After separating what can be recycled, it heats the remains to 750 degrees so that the waste emits hydrogen and carbon monoxide, which is then scrubbed resulting into methanal and other chemicals.  The process eventually produces excess heat that can be used to boil water and make electricity, and it even emits lower levels of carbon dioxide than corn ethanol.

Last year, the Pew Foundation’s report, “Who’s Winning the Clean Energy Race?” revealed that the U.S. continues to slide down the top 10 list of countries racing toward clean energy.  At the same time, that report says, China “is now the dominant power in installed clean energy and set new records for investment and manufacturing.”  China has surpassed the U.S. in investing in wind and solar energy and in manufacturing clean energy equipment.  The Pew report concludes, “It will be a miracle if the United States is able to stay in the top 10 countries in clean energy installation by 2020, much less hold our own.”

This is bad news for a country that is accustomed to leading the world in energy technology, as well as everything else that is good for its own people, as well as for others.  But apparently no one in authority is listening.  Proverbs 29: 18 says “Where there is no vision, the people perish . . ..”  It is time for this nation to get back its vision of hope, promise and leadership for the good of the nation and the world.  Habakkuk 2: 2 – 4  says, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. . . . the just shall live by his faith.”  Surely, the vision for Christians who live by faith is to begin praying for this nation in repentance and truth.  That is the vision to put on plus size Christian T-Shirts everywhere!

What Will It Take? U.S. Government, Mass Media & Global Warming

posted by Jael Ever @ 16:13 PM
May 10, 2011

What will it take for the United States government to admit that the horrendous weather changes relentlessly pelting our country are caused by Global Warming?  What will it take for weather experts reporting on mass media outlets to connect extreme weather occasions––i.e. massive flooding, endless fire-causing droughts, killer tornadoes, record snow blasting winters, etc.––to the real culprit, Global Warming?  What will it take for politicians to stop listening to money-grubbing corporate heads who pay them to ignore Global Warming in the name of the economy and their old standby excuse––saving jobs?

Were the founding fathers of this nation wrong for insisting that the media would be a sacrosanct fourth estate, not bound by governmental authority, because they expected media to be a never-ending fountain of truth?  Why is it that not one mass media outlet even mentioned Global Warming when reporting on those murderous tornadoes ripping through the south a few days ago?  Why is it that these media giants completely ignored Global Warming when reporting on the wild fires treading through Texas, destroying homes, farmland and anything or anyone else in their way?  These media weather personalities do have degrees in climatology and other weather disciplines, do they not?

And why now, when climate scientists reported years ago that Global Warming would bring torrential rains and  unbelievable flooding throughout this nation, that media mentions nothing about that to the millions of people now flooded out of their homes, their towns and factories destroyed, and their loved ones lost?  Doesn’t the government care?  Don’t local political leaders have the right to know?  Were local weather experts holding advanced degrees from viable universities not taught about the effects of Global Warming?

Surely, those in the highest offices in the land at least have advisers who are telling them the truth?  And why do the men running world-wide mega-corporation squash any mention of Global Warming whenever they can, making sure that the subject is relegated to a few “nosy” bloggers who supposedly can’t reach millions?  What have these billionaires got to lose?  Will allowing Global Warming to eventually kill millions, if not billions, of people enhance their goal of total control over world economies?  Do they care nothing about the human, animal, and plant lives killed in order for them to reach that goal?

But God knows doesn’t He?  Doesn’t His Word say that He will stop these scions, defeating them, and their satanic powers, in final Armageddon battles (Revelation 11: 18; 16 all)?  So believers wear plus size Christian T-shirts to warn others about these things, don’t they?  And Christians are praying for millions to be saved before that Great Day, and that governments and media will soon tell the truth about Global Warming, aren’t they?  Aren’t Christians praying about it all?

Unheeded Warnings: Earthquakes and Nuclear Power, Part 2

posted by Sarah N Worthy IATTWJ Member @ 19:45 PM

Some nations are rethinking the use and storage of nuclear power.  News sources claim that Germany, which shut down its seven oldest reactors for safety checks after the Japanese disaster, plans to close all of its nuclear power plants in the near future.  They will rely more on solar, wind and geothermal energy sources.  Austria proudly reminds others in the European Union that it phased out nuclear energy in the 1970s.  Only France, which uses nuclear power for about 80% of its electricity, insists that it will keep its energy plans focused on nuclear power.  But few spokespersons there have addressed pending problems of nuclear storage.

Reporting on intense state-by-state studies from Associated Press teams,  Jonathan Fahey cites 71,862 tons of nuclear waste––still hot and radioactive–– scattered across over 30 states in the United States.  He also points out that it is stored waste causing much of Japan’s nuclear problems:  “Spent fuel at Dai-ichi overheated, possibly melting fuel-rod casings and spewing radiation into the air, after Japan’s tsunami knocked out power to cooling systems at the plant.”

Keith Darce’s Union-Tribune article adds that even before the Japanese debacle, government officials and nuclear plant operators in the United States began looking for ideal “small towns” in which to store smaller batches of spent nuclear fuel.  President Obama appointed the “Blue Ribbon Commission for American’s Nuclear Future,” for just that purpose.  So that rather than some 30 nuclear waste sites, this nation would have hundreds of sites.  Keep in mind that spent fuels must be transported from producing plants to these “small towns.”

One must also keep in mind that spent fuel can seep into both air and water, and decay growing over decades and  centuries can seep through so-called fail-safe underground concrete, steel and other containment vessels.  But Jeremy van Loon writes in Bloomberg that according to university researchers, “Storing nuclear waste above ground at atomic power plants for as long as six decades may be the best temporary solution in the U.S. for the dangerous refuse.”  The same researchers admit radioactive waste is dangerous for thousands of years.

So much for six decades.  But then other researchers insist that modern technology can keep nuclear waste safe for as long as 100,000 years.  More insanity.  It is also insane to build these nuclear systems to provide a few years of fuel with a deadly substance that will last hundreds, if not thousands, of years.  Is it not extreme arrogance to give some people electricity for a few years, while endangering the lives of others for hundreds of years?  Well wrote the prophet Jeremiah, “It is of The LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not (3: 22).”  In view of that mercy, surely it is time for Christian companies to produce plus size Christian t-shirts blaring the message, “No More Nuclear Energy.”  It is also time for believers to do much, much more!

Shopping online for the Holidays

I have just started shopping online for Christmas and found the perfect gift for my husbands family.  My sister in law is size 3X and I found some great t-shirts that I can purchase online and have delivered to me by Christmas. I struggle every year to find a good gift for her and I don’t like to give just anything.

She is a good Christian woman and I found wholesale Christian t-shirts in her size. They are sold to the public at wholesale prices and that makes this gift a win win situation. They also have regular sizes so I can get one for each member of the family including the children!

Finding a plus size Christian t-shirt for a gift

Having a way to get plus sized clothing is very important to me. I have to give family members gifts for birthdays, anniversaries and Christmas. There are three family members that are plus sized.

Luckily I can find plus size Christian t-shirts and sweat shirts on the Internet. I even found sizes up to 6XL but I do not need that size. And buying plus size Christian t-shirts makes the gift more personal then a regular t-shirt.
