Outrageous! West Nile Virus Still Rising & Could Spread!

posted by Dr. Ad Versery Bored @ 16:38 PM
September 13, 2012

The West Nile Virus is still on the rise, and health officials in this country seem powerless to stop it.  In fact, they expect these multiplying cases to continue through the end of October.  Some experts say this virus will go even further.

At a tele-news-conference yesterday, Dr.  Lyle Petersen, Director of the Division of Vector-Borne Diseases in the CDC’s (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases, said:

“A total of 2,636 cases of West Nile virus disease in people, including 118 deaths, have been reported to CDC, which is an overall increase of about 35 percent over last week’s numbers. . . . 1,405 (53 percent) were classified as neuro-invasive disease (such as meningitis or encephalitis) and 1,231; (47 percent) were classified as non-neuro-invasive disease.

“For comparison, the numbers reported as of September 4 were 1,993 cases total, with 1,069 cases of neuro-invasive disease, and 87 deaths.  The 1,405 cases of West Nile virus neuro-invasive disease is the highest number of such cases reported to CDC through the second week of September since West Nile virus was introduced into the United States in 1999.”

Petersen was especially concerned about what is now the highest number of neuron-invasive diseases cases.  While 2/3s of the cases remain in Texas, Louisiana, South Dakota, Mississippi, Michigan and Oklahoma––the Director also stressed that, in view of waters left from Hurricane Isaac, the CDC and FEMA are working with officials in Louisiana and Mississippi to develop stronger mosquito control.  Reporters questions revealed that states getting low on test kits for the virus.

Moreover, in a Washington Post article, ‘Does the West Nile outbreak signal an epidemic of viral epidemics? Yes and no.,’ Joel Achenbach, David Brown and Lena H. Sun claim “we are swimming in a sea of viruses” or an epidemic of epidemics. In addition to West Nile virus, they add:  “hantavirus, swine flu, bird flu, SARS, ebola and the great global scourge of HIV.”

They lament that the planet’s 7 billion people and international transportation have created a hotbed of global pathogens: bacteria which can sometimes be controlled, and viruses which cannot be controlled.  Viruses simply highjack a cell it selects and wraps itself around it, so that it is impossible to kill the virus without killing the cell it has hijacked.

Unless the medical community does better than this and soon, citizens in this nation and others will soon be over-run by epidemics of epidemics of epidemics.  Only by the grace of God can such an avalanche of diseases be stopped.  It is time to print on plus size christian t-shirts God’s promises of healing:  “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (Psalm 103: 3). . .”  But note those healings come after repentance and forgiveness!

Drought Getting Worse in Nation’s Lower Half ; USDA Helps Cattle

posted by Sarah N Worthy IATTWJ Member @ 18:10 PM
August 2, 2012

Half the counties in the United States––1,584 county areas in 32 states––suffer under extreme drought alerts.  Tom Vilsack, Agriculture Secretary has ordered the U.S. Department of Agriculture has categorized them as disaster areas.

Today’s weekly U.S. Drought Monitor Survey shows that some two-thirds of the lower 48 states are in drought condition.  Survey numbers increased two percentage points to 22.3 because of increasingly bad conditions in Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma.

Associated Press reporter Jim Suhr adds that once USDA added 218 areas in Arkansas, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee and Wyoming––Vilsack was forced to provide additional emergency aid to farmers and rangers.

Thus, he opened up 3.8 million acres of conservation land for ranchers to feed cattle.  Vilsack posits:  “The assistance announced today will help U.S. livestock producers dealing with climbing feed prices, critical shortages of hay and deteriorating pasture lands.”  He adds that crop insurers will give farmers ‘facing cash-flow issues’ a penalty-free, 30 day grace period on 2012 premiums.

Half the U.S. corn crop is rated poor or very poor.  And 37 percent of the nation’s U.S. soybeans are likewise rated, while some three-quarters of U.S. cattle grazing land is drought-affected.

Obviously Vilsack and other officials are concerned that drought conditions will affect the nation’s economy.  This week’s Mid-America Business Conditions Index shows that continuing drought conditions, as well as global economic problems, is negatively affecting nine Midwest and Plains states.

Suhr writes:  “The drought stretches from Ohio west to California and runs from Texas north to the Dakotas. Only in the 1930s and the 1950s has a drought covered more of the U.S., according to National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C.”  In some areas, local officials have instituted water restrictions, and in others they just ask people to conserve.

In only temporary solutions, Kansas Governor Sam Brownback allows farmers, ranchers and others to draw water from the state’s 28 fishing lakes; and he permits ranchers to take four to five thousand gallons of water from tanks on semi-trucks.  He adds:  “Folks can’t do that long term because of the cost of hauling the water. If they are buying feed, too, they may just have to sell the cattle.”

Jeremiah has an interesting verse that should be put on all plus size christian t-shirts:  “A drought is upon her waters; and they shall be dried up: for it is the land of graven images, and they are mad upon their idols (50: 38).”  A nation should realize that substituting idols for God invites punishment. Either we give up idols and return to God––or we should expect more destruction.

Old Diseases Make Strong Comebacks Around the World

posted by Dr. Ad Versery Bored @ 23:57 PM
July 25, 2012

Too many old diseases long-thought to have been defeated are making come backs around the world.  In some cases, medicines once considered miraculous are now weak or ineffective.

Health officials in the United States are particularly concerned that the nation is in the mist of the worst whooping cough epidemic in 50 years.  And it may have been caused by deliberate weakening of the usual vaccine.

This rather ordinary disease––long thought conquered––recently killed nine babies in the U.S.  And health officials are making all-out efforts for health and nursery workers, parents, teachers and pregnant women to get vaccinations.

Maggie Fox of NBC News reports that Dr. Anne Schuchat tells media: “As of today, nationwide nearly 18,000 cases have been reported to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).  That is nearly twice as many as reported last year. We may be on track for a record high pertussis (whooping cough) rate . . . ”

The last U.S. record for this disease was in 2010 with 27,000 cases reported and 27 people died.  But in 1959, there were 40,000 cases in this country.  During this time, an effective vaccine was found, but it sometimes caused a strong reaction.  Thus, in 1997, that formula was changed to cause less reaction, but apparently it wears off earlier.

Other contributions to the current outbreak include people who decline vaccinations for religious reasons, and health naturalists who choose other ‘homemade’ remedies.

Linda Carroll from NBC News found that in Oregon, many parents delayed having children vaccinated fearing complications with other vaccines.  But experts say that while multiple shots may be painful for a short while, they “pose no harm to babies,” and “the consequences of delaying vaccinations can be much worse.”

Also, Dr. Schuchat says that people who are not vaccinated have eight times the higher rate of getting the infection.  Also if those who did receive their shots catch the bacteria, it is usually less serious.

Other outbreaks of old diseases include cholera in Haiti and Mali, polio in Nigeria, E. coli in the U.S. and drug-resistant gonorrhea spreading in several countries.  We will report on these in the next blog.

In addition to the spiritual wisdom of strong prayers in the time of sickness, plus size Christian T-shirts can also stress vaccination shots for whooping cough and other diseases.  In Matthew 10: 1, “And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease,” The LORD Jesus taught that Satan’s imps are at the root of all sickness and disease.  And those minions should be resisted on every level!

Massive Street Demonstrations Against Austerity in Spain, Part 2

posted by Ida B. Wells IV @ 12:25 PM
July 23, 2012

In much larger demonstrations in Madrid and 80 other cities in Spain against the government’s new austerity plan, civil servants, trade unionists, policemen, firemen, Civil Guards, miners, farmers, and other workers have enlarged daily demonstrations against the Prime Minister’s latest budget-cutting actions.

Many unemployed workers are walking hundreds of miles to join in these protests against the 65 billion euros of new spending cuts––including cuts in unemployment benefits, public sector wage cuts and sales tax increases to 21%––that Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy announced last week.

Reuters reports that demonstrators in Madrid set garbage cans on fire as riot police fired rubber bullets against them.  Police claim that six marchers were injured, and seven others were arrested.

In ‘Spain Police Clash with Austerity Protesters,’ aljazeera.com com writes:  “Thick smoke hung in the air early on Friday from plastic bins set alight by protestors chased by police, who hit them with batons when some tried to reach the heavily-guarded parliament at the end of a mostly peaceful march.

“Hundreds of protesters, including fire-fighters wearing their helmets and police in black T-shirts, have marched through the streets of Madrid, blocking traffic and chanting.”

An auditor in the treasury, told Clare Kane and Feliciano Tisera of Reuters:  “We have to make some noise, because they’re making fun of us and of all working people.” Others sang “We’ve had it up to here,” and shouted “robbery.”

“We have lived through bad times, but this takes the biscuit,” fireman Francisco Vaquero, 58.  Another worker, Ines Corned, 44, said: ” They have already lowered and frozen our salary and this is the final blow.”

Ramon Pacheco, politics professor, told Kane and Tisera that there is widespread anger in Spain over the cuts:  “It has gone beyond an ideological issue . . . and it’s moved beyond the traditional groups that demonstrate. We have seen even the military threatening a demonstration.”

Critics argue the new austerity laws will worsen economic conditions for ordinary people, while doing nothing to affect companies and high income earners.

Spain’s parliament pushed through those budget cuts at the end of last week, and in turn Germany’s parliament voted to give Spain a 100 billion euro bailout.  The fourth largest economy in the euro-zone, Spain is also the fourth country in the zone to get bailout financing, after Greece, Ireland and Portugal.

Politicians everywhere should check with God’s Word which promises:  “He that oppresseth the poor to increase his riches, and he that giveth to the rich, shall surely come to want (Proverbs 22: 16).”  Perhaps marchers should put that on plus size Christian T-Shirts to remind leaders that God keeps His Word.

Politics, Power Companies & Killer D.C./Greater Area Storms

posted by Sarah N Worthy IATTWJ Member @ 17:01 PM
July 5, 2012

How’s this for national safety:  Up to 26 now dead from Mid-Atlantic storm; 1.8 million in mid-Atlantic still without power as of Tuesday night; emergency phones didn’t work, etc.  How could those in charge of safety around the nation’s capitol be so woefully ill-prepared for even these relatively minor disasters.

Moreover, how have massive lobby payments protected power companies from responsible regulation?  And how did politicians and regulators––who are suppose to protect the American people––let this happen?

To quote the editorial pages of the Washington Post this week:  “In Northern Virginia, where Verizon handles most 911 calls, emergency phone service simply did not exist for much of the weekend, . . .  Suburban Maryland’s main power provider, Pepco, once again scrambled to restore electricity to hundreds of thousands of customers who have come almost to expect wildly inconvenient outages in extreme temperatures.”

Kasey Jones of the Associated Press reports:  “More than 146,000 Virginia homes and businesses remained without power after, down from a peak of about 1.2 million after the storms.  In New Jersey, Atlantic City Electric said nearly 30,000 homes and businesses were still without service. . . down from 206,000.”

Pepco customers have nothing but disdain for that company which spends multi-millions of dollars on TV and print advertisement about their readiness.  And they spend even more lobbying Congress to resist regulation of their industry.  A major problem for Pepco is the traveling sophistication of its customer base:

“I have a lot of people in my district who’ve lived all over the world, and they’ve never seen such unreliable service,”  Montgomery County Council President Roger Berliner (D-Potomac-Bethesda) told Marc Fisher of the Washington Post. “People joke about Pepco being the Pakistan Electric Power Company. I’m just so tired of Pepco’s PR. It’s time for performance, not PR.”

So much public pressure has come down on the poorly operated system that even utility regulators are sharing in the blame.  Douglas Nazarian, chairman of the Maryland Public Service Commission says, “We, as a commission, can fairly be criticized.  We didn’t pick up early enough on the need for comprehensive reliability regulations. . . . You can call us on that one.”

Come on boys, you have to do better than putting company logos on plus size Christian t-shirts.  Your area of responsibility includes the White House, the Capitol buildings, the Pentagon, etc.  As The LORD Jesus said, “No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other (Luke 16: 13).”  So just who do utility companies and regulators serve, the public or stock holders?  Tomorrow, more on the millions spent on lobbying instead of on underground wiring and better customer service.

Some EU Members Planning A United States of Europe!

posted by Ida B. Wells IV @ 23:59 PM
June 22, 2012

Often planned in secret meetings, and sometimes hinted about in public, the European Union (EU) is said to be planning to implicitly disembowel nation states into one massive country to be headed by an unknown––and unelected––leader!

If implemented, the present EU plot will combine the positions of President of the European Council and President of the European Commission, and British politicians are furious at the concept.

England has not been invited to these secret meetings, but Lord David Stoddart insists:  “This is a plot by people who want to abolish nation states and create a United States of Europe.”

And Euro-MP Paul Nuttall, of the UK Independence Party, said: “This is a truly ridiculous idea that must never be allowed to happen.  It sounds as if they are trying to go back to the days of the Holy Roman Emperor.”

In a Hitler-Style move, according to Mercer Hall of UK News, “The new bureaucrat, who would not be directly elected by voters, is set to get sweeping control over the entire EU and force member countries into ever-greater political and economic union.”

Tory MP Douglas Carswell told Express.co.uk: “It doesn’t matter how you arrange the offices of these technocrats, they are useless at arranging our lives for us and they are not elected so they have no legitimacy.”

But Herman Van Rompuy, the first permanent President of the European Council, and Prime Minister of Belgian, has made it absolutely clear that in his mind, the concept of individual nation states is over:  “The age of the nation state is over and the idea that countries can stand alone is an ‘illusion’ and a ‘lie’.”

Making his remarks at the recent G20 Summit in Seoul, South Korea, on the 21st anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, Van Rompuy labels those who disagree with this view as suffering “Euroscepticism.” He says that countries such as Britain are the greatest threat to peace.  “We have together to fight the danger of a new Euroscepticism.  This is no longer the monopoly of a few countries.”

This is all so much like a slow-moving night mare where one can see a massive monster pushing billions of powerless people toward a steep cliff.  But aware of their coming fall, the dreamer can do nothing but cry out in the night.  And the dreamer can’t wake up.

So you can just put on your plus size Christian t-shirts and go back to sleep.  But if you are one of the few who understand the coming nightmare for Europe and the rest of the world, “Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober (1 Thessalonians 5: 6).”  A few of us must stay awake and scream loud warnings to others!

No Tsunamis After Two 8.2+ Earthquakes, But More Quakes, Part 2

posted by Sarah N Worthy IATTWJ Member @ 11:19 AM
April 16, 2012

Tsunami alerts have been cancelled in the Indonesian / Indian Ocean region.  As we reported yesterday, the two huge earthquakes involved no casualties.  However, their shelf movements did cause other quakes around the world.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) a 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Mexico’s Pacific coast near Mexico City yesterday as well.  Reaching down into the ocean some 40 miles, that quake’s shaking sent thousands rushing out of offices onto the city’s streets.  Smaller quakes also hit other areas.

The founder of theextinctionprotocol.wordpress.com connects the two huge quakes in the Indian Ocean with the Mexico quakes: “As I warned in my book The Extinction Protocol, the power unleashed in these seismic events is growing. This is testament to the dangers and seriousness of the earth-changes facing us and how these events are unleashing more unbridled force with each successive eruption. The Indian Ocean strike-slip fault earthquakes are very unusual.”

Other scientists agree with him that the strike-slip fault earthquakes in the Indian Ocean are “very unusual.” The Associated Press (AP) says:  “The massive earthquake off Indonesia surprised scientists: Usually this type of jolt isn’t this powerful.”  AP quotes Susan Hough USGS seismologist:  “It’s clear a bit of an odd duck.”  The Indian Ocean quake area is similar to California’s San Andreas Fault.

Most powerful earthquakes result when in ‘subduction zones’ one plate pushes against another, which was the case in Japan’s massive quake last year.  But yesterday’s quakes are referred to as ‘strike-slip quakes’ because enormous sections of rocks slide “horizontally past each other.”

Kevin Furlong, Geo-sciences professor at Penn State University, explains:  “A week ago, we wouldn’t have thought we could have a strike-slip earthquake of this size. This is very, very large.”

In fact, USGS ranks yesterdays quakes as record setting, saying that it may well be the largest strike-ship quake in known history.  AP adds that this region has been rattled by three strong strike-slip quakes recently, but this was the largest.

EP concludes:  “Just so we understand the significance of what transpired today; the Japanese March 11, 2011 earthquake move the ocean floor 79 feet sideways and 10 ft upwards, but today’s earthquakes happened in double 8.0+ magnitude sequence and moved the earth nearly as far. Worst, the seismic tension from the event ricocheted around the world and contributed to other earthquakes.”

In Amos chapter 4, God tells Israel that He had sent them warning after warning that it was time to repent, but the nation would not listen.  Finally, He tells them:  “prepare to meet thy God (4: 12).”  In view of these earth shattering quakes, that message should blare on billboards and plus size Christian t-shirts everywhere!

More Record Breaking Summer Heat With New Diseases

posted by Jael Ever @ 19:23 PM
July 11, 2011

Massive heat waves are sweeping through the United States and Europe this summer, and there is no relief in sight.  Reuters and other news services report researchers’ conclusions that only thunderstorms and rainfall will now and then break the heat spells.  Last month the persistent heat and alternating storms caused at least eight deaths from the Plains to the East Coast in this country.  And in Europe, Australia and other global locations, emergency rooms stayed on alert.

Sweltering heat also brings health threats, especially to older citizens, and the homeless.  But this year’s record temperatures also includes outdoor dangers from newly-discovered insect diseases.  The latest one is Babesiosis.  Like Lyme Disease and Ehrlichiosis––summer heat diseases already familiar to health workers––Babesiosis is transfered to people from tick bites.  Babesiosis is particularly dangerous to people who have had their spleens removed, who are pregnant, or who have compromised immune systems.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports:  “Babesiosis is caused by microscopic parasites that infect red blood cells,  . . . [and] can cause hemolytic anemia (from destruction of red blood cells).”   Although it is spreading to other regions of the country, Babesiosis is now seen usually in the Northeast and Upper Midwestern United States––i.e. New England, New York State, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Wisconsin, and Minnesota––including both inland and coastal areas.  This disease should not be taken lightly, as it can be severe and life-threatening.  CDC literature explains that those infected by ticks carrying this bug can have “flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills, sweats, headache, body aches, loss of appetite, nausea, or fatigue.”

During these hot months, it is best to avoid heavily wooded, dense brush and high grass areas.  But if one must  venture there, it is best to wear clothing covering the skin.  Also, the CDC recommends bodily coverage with any insect repellents containing DEET (diethyltoluamide).  This would also protect against diseases spread by mosquitoes or fleas.  Also check any house pets that may bring ticks home.  And, if one does avoid tick-infested areas, plus size Christian t-shirts provide amble protection in summer heat, while also witnessing for Christ.

Regular readers of this blog would know that it places the blame for these oppressive heat waves, and the diseases they bring, on Global Warming.  Moreover, Bible research indicates that these end-times summers will only get hotter, be more disease-laden, and last longer.  And they will continue through the final days of the battle on earth between the forces of God and the Devil when “men [will be] scorched with great heat, and blaspheme(d) the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repent(ed) not to give Him glory (Revelation 16: 9).  So stay safe, get into and stay close to Christ, and get ready!
