It may be happening drip by drip, but some economists finally admit that Global Warming contributes to international market declines. Lost work hours, school and shopping days––and most important lost lives––mean climate disruption is gradually shutting down world financial markets.
Fiona Harvey of the guardian.com insists: “The country may be warming up from the polar vortex, but the bone-chilling cold, snow and ice that gripped much of the country – affecting about 200 million people––brought about the biggest economic disruption delivered by the weather since super-storm Sandy in 2012.” And it is well-proven that Global Warming caused Hurricane Sandy.
Evan Gold, senior vice-president at Planalytics, a business weather intelligence company told Harvey about the frigid cold: “There’s a lot of economic activity that didn’t happen,” Gold said. “Some of that will be made up but some of it just gets lost. It’s a small fraction of a percent, but it’s still an impact.”
The Economic Collapse avers: “Last month, new manufacturing orders in the U.S. declined at the fastest pace that we have seen since December 1980. . . vehicles sales for Ford were down 7.5 % and . . . for GM were down 12 %. Both companies are blaming bad weather. . . .If our economic troubles continue to mount, could we be facing a global ‘financial avalanche’ fairly quickly?”
In an article last fall, Harvey, guardian.com environment correspondent, revealed: “Climate change is already contributing to the deaths of nearly 400,000 people a year and costing the world more than $1.2 trillion, wiping 1.6% annually from global GDP, . . Air pollution caused by the use of fossil fuels is also separately contributing to the deaths of at least 4.5m people a year.”
She quoted from ‘Climate Vulnerability Monitor: A Guide to the Cold Calculus of A Hot Planet’ by the DARA group and the Climate Vulnerable Forum, which estimates poorer nations will soon lose 4% of GDP, while the U.S. could lose 2% of GDP and China will lose $ 1.2 trillion by 2030:
“While many governments have taken the view that climate change is a long-term problem, . . .a growing body of opinion that the effects are already being felt. . . . melting [Arctic sea ice] could be linked to cold, dull and rainy summers in parts of Europe––such as has been the predominant summer weather in the UK for the last six years. In the US, this year’s severe drought has raised food prices and in India the disruption to the monsoon has caused widespread damage to farmers.”
In climatehotmap.org, the Union of Concerned Scientists summarize economic consequences of Global Warming. More than residential and commercial property and road and infrastructure damage, lost productivity will mean:
“Disruptions in daily life related to climate change can mean lost work and school days and harm trade, transportation, agriculture, fisheries, energy production, and tourism. Severe rainfall events and snowstorms can delay planting and harvesting, cause power outages, snarl traffic, delay air travel, and otherwise make it difficult for people to go about their daily business.”
In online Bible lessons, Apostle Paul prays: “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of His calling . . . (Ephesians 1: 18).” Let us pray with him that we will soon understand the tremendous cost of Global Warming in time enough to do something about it!
Oh, for the days of scientists like Isaac Newton who had too much respect for God to try to get into the roots of His creations, or even to presume they have a right to. Instead, today’s scientists––most trained without moral, humanistic or Judeo-Christian inclusions––presume they must know everything about everything, regardless of rhyme, reason or the resulting good for mankind.
Some of them now spend untold millions of dollars otherwise desperately needed in a poor economy looking for what they call “dark matter.” Other’s try to crack particles so they can trap the secrets of the Infinite God’s creativity.
Since they call it the ‘God Particle,’ the group of scientists chasing the Higgs Boson assume this discovery enables them to understand the origin of mass. Or as Clara Moskowitz of Live Science explains in ‘God Particle’: Six Big Consequences of the Higgs Boson Discovery’:
“Confirming the particle is a Higgs would also confirm that the Higgs mechanism for particles to acquire mass is correct. . . . And, it may offer clues to the next mystery down the line, which is why individual particles have the masses that they do.” And how, one must ask, would such knowledge benefit mankind?
Harvard professor Lisa Randall’s explanation just puts more darkness into their cloudy searches: “That could be part of a much larger theory . . . Knowing what the Higgs boson is, is the first step of knowing a little more about what that theory could be. It’s connected.” So governments and universities now spend millions of dollars for mysteries and theories. For what reasons? To whose benefit?
Next, Moskowitz ‘clarifies’: “So far, the Higgs boson seems to match up with predictions made by the Standard Model, [which] itself isn’t thought to be complete. It doesn’t encompass gravity, for example, and leaves out the dark matter thought to make up 98 percent of all matter in the universe.” Patty McBride, head of the CMS Center adds: “Clear evidence that the new particle is the Standard Model Higgs Boson still would not complete our understanding of the universe.”
Why must “we” understand the universe? “We” didn’t make it. “We” don’t live in most of it? “We” will never travel through it? “We” don’t even know the oceans of the planet “we” do live on. What are “we” scientists doing to solve such ‘earthy’ problems as Global Warming, polluted air, melting glaciers, etc.?
Some science reporters recognize that such ‘nosiness’ is indeed dangerous at its core: As Saswato R. Das explains in ‘How the Higgs Boson Might Spell Doom for the Universe’: “Under the simplest assumptions, the measured mass of the Higgs could mean the universe is unstable and destined to fall apart.”
Das explains that some more rational scientists are shaken by the Higgs Boson discovery and could care less about dark matter. Theorist Joseph Lykken from the Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois tells Das:
“If you use all the physics that we know now and you do what you think is a straightforward calculation, it is bad news. It may be that the universe we live in is inherently unstable.” Das adds: “It has to do with the so-called vacuum stability in the Standard Model.” So scientists rattling the universe initiate earth’s destruction?
Oh that they had Newton’s respect for God, or better they would know Him through His Son, Jesus. As online Bible lessons teach: “Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in: (Isaiah 40: 21-22).”
Most people remain unaware that October is the high witchcraft activity month around the world. Thus, don’t be surprised at the U.S. government shutdown, possible default that could send the world into another Great Depression, suicides and police shootings at the White House, unexpected tornadoes or other things this fall. Witch-crafters design them for failure and death.
In ‘ Witches and Warlock––Annual Wiccan Holidays,’ Holiday Insights.com explains: “There are eight holidays on the Wiccan Calendar. These Wiccan holidays are called ‘Sabbats.’ The [Wicca] New Year begins on October 31st, Halloween night . . . witches and warlocks celebrate their holidays from sundown on the date of the holiday through sundown the next day.
“Also known as Samhain or All Hallow’s Eve. This is New Years on the Druid calendar. The wall between earth and the underworld is thin at this time of year. On Halloween night, the wall opens. Samhain, the Lord of Darkness, rises from the underworld. He roams the world looking for lost souls. It is an evil and wicked night, a perfect night for a witch to celebrate New Years!”
Yes. Satan himself visits witchcraft celebratory sights around the world on October 31st. Such rituals were common practices in the pagan world that true Christianity battled against and won in most nations during the last 2,000 years.
That phenomenal success pushed such witchcraft practices––including child kidnapping, drug and human trafficking, prostitution of all types, and human sacrifices––underground. It is now done in heavily wooded areas or in deep sub-terranian basements. These covens include many prominent people in high places.
In her book, ‘The Witch That Switched,’ Irene Park, an ex-witch who reigned high up in Satanic circles before she found The LORD Jesus Christ as Savior, discusses some of these practices in detail.
In online Bible lessons, The Apostle Paul cautions Christians not to “have fellowship” with such works of darkness. Having fellowship would include not imitating––such as in Halloween costuming––but exposing them where possible:
“And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light (Ephesians 5: 11 – 13).”
Halloween is not a time of holi/holy days for Christians. Costumes and masks represent evil, because they hide reality. This year––perhaps more urgent as the world is so near the end of time––October demands Christians to fervently pray for God’s protection over individuals, families and nations.
Sarah Newsworthy: Doc, you warned at the end of last month that record-breaking heat in July would probably bring mosquitoes carrying West Nile Virus and other diseases this month. What is the situation on that now?
Dr. Ad Versery: Well Sarah that still seems to be case. But continuing hot weather in some parts of the country in August will explode mosquito populations this fall. Already most states report rises in West Nile mosquito carriers.
On August 27th, the U.S. Geological Surveys found the West Nile Virus among misquotes in 41 states at the District of Columbia. A few states had extremely high volume percentages of the disease among the insects tested, including: California at 1585 carriers, Illinois with 1009, New Jersey 309, and Pennsylvania 729, as compared to low rates in Kansas at 1, or Iowa at 4.
Newsworthy: But those numbers mean little to states such as Colorado which had 131 illnesses and lost five people to the disease last year. The Denver Post has reported at least three cases of West Nile Virus this month.
Cities there have already started mosquito control efforts, such as spraying and moving scheduled outdoor activities in-doors. Surely, officials in other states are also taking precautions. Paul Tinder writes in VN Daily, 29 states reported cases of West Nine infections at the end of last month, including three deaths.
Dr. Ad Versery: We don’t know what is going on all the states. But we do know this is serious. After all, last year West Nile infected mosquitoes brought a record number of 286 deaths out of 5,674 cases in the U.S.
Newsworthy: Global Warming assures us that very high heat levels will continue long into the fall. You know what makes no sense to me doc? Why is there a West Nile vaccine for animals and not one for people? So what should people do to protect themselves from getting this disease?
Dr. Ad Versery: As we said last year: get rid of standing water, including kiddie pools. Even change bird feeders every several days. Wear skin covering clothes––i.e. long sleeve shirts and long pants––when going outside, and use insect repellents such as DEET, Picaridin, eucalyptus, geranoil or Oil of Lemon.
Newsworthy: Yes. And avoid going outside at dawn and dusk. Those are the hours when mosquitoes are most active. The best advise is just to stay in doors! And encourage local and state officials to start spraying against the mosquitoes.
Dr. Ad Versery: Also, because of Global Warming––your area of expertise Sarah––it is projected that extreme heat waves will increase by 5% a year, scheduled to double by 2020 and quadruple by 2040. Many people will not be able to live in that kind of heat. It is urgent that Christians start praying about this.
Newsworthy: You are right. It would also help if nations start taking serious steps against Global Warming. As our online Bible lessons teach national leaders: “Be thou prepared, and prepare for thyself, thou, and all thy company that are assembled unto thee, and be thou a guard unto them (Ezekiel 28: 7).” Those leaders denying Global Warming are not guarding the people under their charge!
Ooook. Most news about China is about their habitual fondness for disease-filled activities. So I am stuck with ‘news’ from Japan. My problem is that the Japanese aren’t able to leave the past alone. They so desire to change history.
For instance, they finally agreed to sign a peace treaty with Russia to end World War II. In ‘Japan and Russia Want to Finally End World War II, Agree It Is ‘Abnormal’ Not To,’ Fred Weir of Reuters writes: “Russian President Putin and Japanese Prime Minister Abe . . . wrestled for hours with the problem that has stymied Russian and Japanese leaders for almost 70 years: how to find a mutually acceptable and hopefully profitable way to finally end World War II.” But all they accomplished was to set up a process to ‘draft’ a peace agreement.
Moreover, Japan won’t stop whale hunting even though their people don’t eat whale meat any more. And even as deadly radiation from their failed nuclear plants seeps into world waters, they insist on building new nuclear plants.
But now––well aware they are insulting neighboring nations which insist Japan never fully apologized for their WWII atrocities––recently elected conservative government representatives recently justified their war practices of forcing non-Japanese women into prostitution was necessary and justified!
Malcolm Foster writes in ‘Toru Hashimoto, Osaka Mayor, Says Forced Prostitution Of Asian Women During World War II Was Necessary:’ the “. . . co-leader of an emerging conservative political party, . . . said the Japanese military’s forced prostitution of Asian women before and during World War II” was good.
Hashimoto explained: “To maintain discipline in the military . . . For soldiers who risked their lives in circumstances where bullets are flying around like rain and wind, if you want them to get some rest, a comfort women system was necessary. That’s clear to anyone.”
Foster certifies that some 200,000 women, mainly from Korea and China, were “were forced to provide sex for Japanese soldiers in military brothels.” China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei, responded:
“We are appalled and indignant about the Japanese politician’s comments boldly challenging humanity and historical justice. The way they treat the past will determine the way Japan walks toward the future. On what choice Japan will make, the Asian neighbors and the international community will wait and see.”
Japan’s refrains smack of inhumanity and valuelessness of women. They have infuriated women in Asia, around the world, and even in Japan. As Rev. Repriestly teaches us in Online Bible Lessons that world leaders should remember the Bible’s account of Nebuchadnezzar and repent of such pride: “But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: (Daniel 5: 20).”
Even as deaths from the H7N9 rise up to 24% of known cases, U.S. and international health officials don’t seem to have gained much more information about this death knell. They don’t even know if China is telling the truth about how long the virus has been there, and exact case numbers remain illusive.
No one is sure if human to human transmission is present or possible. It is known that a vaccine protection against the virus is not developed. Moreover, while prior Bird Virus’ began in rural settings, this one started in urban markets. And some suspect that market chickens caught the disease from common pigeons.
Alexander Abad-Santos of Reuters in ‘The Truth About Bird Flu Is We Don’t Know the Truth—But It’s Getting Worse,’ warns that scientists really don’t know very much about this virus. The “grim reality is that China might not be telling everyone just how bad the disease has become, even as it becomes clear we don’t know how to stop it, and that it is the most lethal bird virus ever!
“Following concerns about a SARS-like “cover up,” China’s Center of Disease Control has stopped publishing its figures in English, just as the first new case of H7N9 popped up in the massive Hunan province—and on the verge of mainland holiday exodus.”
The Extinction Protocol (EP) quotes prominent virology experts in London who claim this virus has “several worrisome characteristics, including two genetic mutations that make it more likely to eventually spread from person to person.”
Colin Butte, an expert in avian viruses at Britain’s Pirbright Institute, told EP: “The longer the virus is unchecked in circulation, the higher the probability that this virus will start transmitting from person to person.”
EP’s associates also interviewed Jeremy Farrar, a leading expert on infectious diseases and director of Oxford University’s research unit in Vietnam, who “said the age range of those infected so far stretched from toddlers to people in their late 80s – a range that appeared to confirm the virus is completely new to the human population.”
Dr. Farrar continues: “That suggests there truly is no immunity across all ages, and that as humans we have not seen this virus before. The response has to be calm and measured, but it cannot be taken lightly.”
Apparently, this is one instance where science and international politics do not have the answers. But God does! As Rev. Repriestly advises in online Bible lessons it is time for Christians to renew their faith in God for physical healing:
“Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in The Name of The Lord: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and The Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him (James 5: 14 – 15).”
Environmentalists around the world designated April 22 as Earth Day. For good public relations during Earth Day celebrations, businesses offer promotions, free products and other trinkets of earthly significance. But what does it all mean?
John McConnell, started the idea of Earth Day in 1969 at a United Nations Conference. U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson proclaimed April 22, 1970, as an environmental ‘teach-in’ date. Also in response to Earth Day concerns, the Environmental Protection Agency was founded that same year.
In 1990, Denis Hayes, who was National Earth Day Coordinator, took the organization international. Today it is celebrated in 192 countries every year, with many planned and sponsored events.
But when Earth Day is over, politicians, businesses and the general public go back to ‘business as usual’: destroying the planet with air and water pollution, over-fishing and polluting the oceans, flooding the earth and seas with non-recyclable garbage, etc. Earth Day must start to mean more to all nations.
Man’s failure to fully accept the significance of Earth Day is bringing the planet’s non-human animals to the edge of extinction. To save this planet, the American people must set an example for the world by letting politicians and business heads know: things must change.
Surely we can make this industrial age more earth-friendly. After the U.S. brings down its own levels of contributions to Climate Change, we can convince China––now the most polluting nation on earth––to join us. If not, the U.S. should greatly reduce its Asian imports.
In the same way, China can be encouraged to decrease its ‘need’ for elephant and rhino ivory in order to protect these species. The U.S. can also encourage that country to stop its industrial pollution of the planet’s air and water.
To celebrate the Earth today companies such as: Target Stores, Kellogg foods, Jo-Ann Fabrics and others are giving away reusable shopping bags; Caribou Coffee shops offers a free cup of coffee; and if you bring in five plastic bags to Disney, you will get a free Disney Tote bag in exchange, etc.
But while Americans pick up their free gifts, they may also ask each contributing company what it is doing to save the planet? What are the company’s environment, pollution and recycling policies? What does the enterprise know about such policies among their suppliers, including overseas enterprises?
Those who celebrate Earth Day can also add verses from online Bible lessons to their research on the planet’s future: “The earth is The LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. For He hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods (Psalm 24: 1- 2).” In other words, earth is not man’s possession to destroy!
An unimpeachable study by the Oceana conservancy group has found that a third of the fish being sold or served in America’s restaurants, grocery stores and sushi bars is illegally labeled. Such mislabeling threatens public health.
Of the 1,215 fish samples tested from 674 retail outlets in all U.S. regions since 2010, some states fared worse than others, dependent on certain types of fish. In New York, for example, 94% of fish sold as tuna was not tuna at all.
In ‘Survey Finds That Fish Are Often Not What Label Says,’ Kirk Johnson says: “The study also contained surprises about where consumers were most likely to be misled—sushi bars topped the list in every city studied—while grocery stores were most likely to be selling fish honestly. Restaurants ranked in the middle.”
Owner of Dirk’s Fish Gourmet Shop tells Monica Eng of the Chicago Tribune that fish substitutions are driven by industry profits. In ‘Are Chicago Diners Getting the Fish They Paid For?’ Eng writes: “Chicago diners who think they are eating red snapper may actually be munching on goldbanded jobfish. Those who order Alaskan cod may really be tucking into a threadfin slickhead. And fans of yellowtail could just be getting a fish tale.”
Eng explains: “Improperly labeled fish can cost consumers financially, but these substitutions also can have health consequences. As in many cities, Chicago purveyors were found marketing white tuna that was actually escolar, which is cheaper and can cause severe digestive problems.”
Nadia Arumugam of Forbes adds: “Certain fish are known to build up mercury in their meat, and these should be avoided, particularly by pregnant women. Tilefish and king mackerel are two such fish: both were sold to consumers who believed they were procuring red snapper and halibut respectively.”
Beth Lowell, of Oceana advises: “Purchasing seafood has become the ultimate guessing game for U.S. consumers. . . no one is safe from seafood fraud. We need to track our seafood from boat to plate so that consumers can be more confident that the fish they purchase is safe, legal and honestly labeled.”
Arumugam points to other astounding findings from Oceana: “Of the 120 samples of fish touted as red snapper, only seven transpired to be the genuine article; In New York City, EVERY sushi venue sold mislabeled fish; In Washington D.C., EVERY snapper sample was mislabeled . . .”
Eugene Gorrin writes in response to the New York Times article on such common illegal tactics among those who sell food in our land: “Another step in the decline of America––deception over honesty, cutting corners rather than doing the right thing, screwing over others to get an advantage.”
Of course government regulators are not investigating. As online Bible lessons reveal, such theft awaits God’s harshest judgment: “He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loveth to oppress (Hosea 12: 7).” Such evil!
John J. Jr.: Yes sir. Rev. Dr. Repriestly tells me your name is Anthony Ornitho. I’m John, the senior carrier of the Newspaper Boys and Girls, Int’l, also known as the Animal Kids. She tells me your specialty is in birds. Welcome!
Anthony O.: Thank you sir. Please call me Andy, as all my friends do. Yes I am in graduate studies majoring in avian and zoology studies at the university. I am particularly interested in birds. Dr. Repriestly says that you have a special assignment.
John J. Jr.: Thanks so much for helping us. The preteen carriers in the United States are very upset about news reports that scientists have definitely proven that cats indeed are stalking and killing birds at alarming numbers.
One, named Sissy, has raised such a ruckus that she wants us to file what she calls ‘animal class law suits against cat owners and city pounds.’ Sissy is quite a pickle. Unless we do something, she will start marches and protests everywhere.
Andy: Well John I must tell you that this time Sissy is right. All of us in bird study fields are just as upset. The major research on this subject comes from the Smithsonian Conservation Biology Institute and the Fish and Wildlife Service which estimates that both domestic and feral cats in the U.S kill some 2.4 billion birds a year, along with another 12.3 billion other mammals.
Natalie Angier of the New York Times writes in ‘That Cuddly Kitty Is Deadlier Than You Think,’ that these estimated kill rates “are two to four times higher than mortality figures previously bandied about, and position the domestic cat as one of the single greatest human-linked threats to wildlife in the nation.”
The Smithsonian report says: “More birds and mammals die at the mouths of cats, than from automobile strikes, pesticides and poisons, collisions with skyscrapers and windmills and other so-called anthropogenic causes.”
George H. Fenwick, the president and chief executive of the American Bird Conservancy, is very excited to at last have “some good science to start nailing down the numbers.” He lauds the quality of research.
John J. Jr.: Wow. So Sissy is right. She always screams against cat food companies that keep pushing cats as prized pets. She says that, instead of putting feral cats to sleep, too many city pounds simply spade and release them. Spading will do nothing to stop them hunting birds and other animals. Any ideas Andy?
Andy: Well let’s meet with Dr. Repriestly to see what we can come up with. At that meeting I will bring updates on current studies. For one thing, we know that the population of feral cats has greatly increased. And maybe Sissy and the other kids can bring suggestions for their protest actions.
John J. Jr.: Surely, many land animals and birds are grateful to still be alive. It reminds me of a verse from our online Bible lessons: “Blessed be The LORD, Who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth (Psalms 124: 6).”
With each of the twenty Sandy Hook babies plummeted with bullet barrages from NRA’s sponsored A-15 military semi-automatic rifle, Wayne LaPierre, Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association, blamed the carnage on everyone else but NRA’s push for unlimited gun ownership.
‘It’s the Media’s Fault’––David Taintor of Talking Points Memo.com writes: “Wayne LaPierre accused the media of “rewarding” mass killers with ‘wall-to-wall’ coverage and called news organizations ‘silent enablers, if not co-conspirators”’ in the violence.” ‘They’ conspired? Is this political doublespeak?
LaPierre also asks: “How many more copycats are waiting in the wings for their moment of fame, from a national media machine that rewards them with the wall-to-wall attention and sense of identity that they crave, while provoking others to try to make their mark?” So the media manufactured and sold those guns?
No wait. The famed head of some five million NRA members said its also the media’s fault for sheltering the entertainment and video game industries. “There exists in this country, sadly, a callous, corrupt and corrupting shadow industry that sells and sows violence against its own people through vicious, violent video games with names like ‘Bullet Storm,’ ‘Grand Theft Auto,’ ‘Mortal Combat’ and ‘Splatterhouse,” LaPierre groaned.
So what is LaPierre’s answer? He wants MORE guns in schools. He insists the federal government funds armed guards at every school in this country. Hmm. Who profits from such an ‘innovation’? Why gun stores and gun manufacturers, of course! At about $ 1,500 per assault rifle at thousands of elementary, junior high and high schools, and walla! the gun industry would add millions more to the billions they have already profited from blood sacrificing guns!
Thankfully New York City Mayor, Michael Bloomberg answers LaPierre: “Their press conference was a shameful evasion of the crisis facing our country. Instead of offering solutions to a problem they have helped create, they offered a paranoid, dystopian vision of a more dangerous and violent America where everyone is armed, and no place is safe.”
‘Washington Post’ columnist Eugene Robinson also expressed outrage: “Absurd, unbelievable, tragic, obscene — I grope for words to describe the [NRA]’s proposal for how the nation should respond to last week’s slaughter in Newtown: More guns in the schools. The idea is so insane.”
Our nation’s politicians have been fearful of confronting the NRA for years. But if this is the best the ferocious NRA ‘beast’ can do, then the man who butchered twenty babies in Connecticut last week isn’t the only coward around!
As online Bible lessons teaches: “The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle (78: 9).” Thus, a nation which only has cowards as leaders eventually falls.
