We should have said something way back when ‘they’ replaced telephone operators with a phony woman mimicking on tape recordings. We should have complained loudly when ‘globalization’ gave us calling solicitors who can’t speak English clearly. And did we pelt Congress when ‘they’ invented these ‘robo calls.’
If we did voice objection, we didn’t scream loudly enough, and finally––in a quest to keep up with ‘prosperous’ modern life––we let it go, just as we let go many other things: clean water, unpolluted air, and preservation of skills that provided a decent living––i.e. tailoring skills on sewing machines made in the U.S.A. to produce quality clothing here. But like steel manufacturing, ‘they’ gave our jobs to other nations with what they called ‘trade agreements.’
We should have said something when computerized news put print newspapers on the endangered species list, when vicious brawlers with giant guns on you-tube computer games further disaffected our children’s knowledge of reading, writing and, well you know. And in fact, these ‘fight’ machines helped to make some of our children and youth mass killers. But we didn’t say very much.
Now––with robot pilots executing people around the world at will, with robots building cars and computers, with robots vacuuming floors, etc.––i.e. stealing more jobs–– they rush to make robot cars to drive us around, and flying robot machines to deliver packages in hours instead of days––ahh there go more jobs for postmen and other mail and package delivery persons.
(In fact the front page of today’s New York Times shows a picture of a robot drone taking films and snap shots of a house for sale, so realtors and photographers won’t have to go out and take the pictures themselves.)
Can’t you just see it now. More death to birds because these robot package deliveries fill the air, crashing into one another to reach monied destinations. But then, we say nothing about viral and ‘domesticated’ cats killing birds by the millions. Cat food manufacturers flood airways with food and play ‘necessities’ for the bird killing-animals of cat lovers. Although a few complain, its not heard!
Does anyone wonder what jobs Americans will hold in a decade or two? They won’t be driving taxis, or cleaning floors. Robots will perform those labors. And other jobs will be done overseas. Now that China is sending chickens here, even more of our food stuffs will come from other foreign countries––whether they are labeled or not. Certainly grocery chains and importers don’t want them labeled.
We should never stop pushing against this so-called progress, with the politicians whom we elect. This nation became the greatest country on earth, because its people spoke out to guide its governments for their needs and wishes.
With courage, we fought wars based on our principles of right and wrong.
Now we are snared by fears, cowardly leanings and laziness. These are traits sown by America’s enemies who wish to collapse her from within. Maybe we hope things will change, whether speak out or not. But they won’t!
As Bible verse cards read: “The children of Ephraim being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle (Psalm 78: 9).” Americans are armed to speak out. But will they do so? The day of battle is passing quickly.
Those who keep track with records set by Global Warming––i.e. droughts, unreasonably rough and cold winters, hurricanes, tornadoes, animal extinctions, inexplicable storms, etc.––are well aware that things are getting worse.
Warning after warning has continually plummeted onto airways and internet for years about earth’s emergencies caused by Global Warming and Climate Change. But national leaders with the power to regulate carbon-burning industries have done little or nothing about these sources of earth’s destruction.
Commending on the worse of Global Warming yet to come, Earth Policy release said of the recent Philippine storm: “. . . the typhoon that slammed into the Philippines with 195-mile-an-hour winds [is] the most powerful tropical storm to make landfall on record. . . .
“Super Typhoon Haiyan had gusts reaching 235 miles per hour and a storm surge swelling as high as 20 feet, so the destruction it left behind matched that of a tornado combined with a tsunami.” Understand that tsunamis come after earthquakes, not typhoons. So, again, we have multiplying destruction in nature!
Also comprehend that weather scientists have warned of the worse to come for years. In 2003, uk.independent.com wrote: “In an astonishing announcement on global warming and extreme weather, the World Meteorological Organization [WMO] signaled . . . that the world’s weather is going haywire.
“In a startling report, the WMO, which normally produces detailed scientific reports and staid statistics at the year’s end, highlighted record extremes in weather and climate occurring all over the world . . . from Switzerland’s hottest-ever June to record. . . tornadoes in the United States––and linked them to climate change.”
Just to what extreme does ‘wacky’ weather become ‘normal’ enough for national leaders to get the truth: earth is way pass the emergency stage of weather. Do they not understand that such heated weather reaches a point of no return?
Scientists studying Arctic Warming agree with what Christa Marshall and Climate Wire claim in ‘Scientific American’: “Scientists have long known that the Arctic is warming faster than the rest of the globe, even as they had less of a grasp of how recent trends compare to thousands of years ago. Now, a new study aims to fill the knowledge gap by concluding that recent summer warming in the eastern Canadian Arctic is unprecedented in more than 44,000 years.”
44,000 years!!!! Just as Earth Policy argues: “The world is literally moving off the charts. With the global average temperature up over half a degree Celsius since the 1970s and with more warming in store, we are starting to witness weather anomalies so severe we need to update our metrics and extend our graphs.”
But corporate bigwigs insist upon continuing their destruction of earth and its inhabitants––whether animal or human. They could care less about the number they kill as long as it increases their profits. What Scripture can I, Jael or Pastor Repriestly give them to provoke change? As Bible verse cards continually argue:
“But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire (2 Peter 2: 2).” And the politicians corporate scions feed are no different!
Independent testing indicates radiation from Japan’s Fukushina nuclear accident has come to our shores sooner than expected. Radiation detected as 668% higher than normal is over California in spite of assurances from the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that Japan’s nuclear meltdown poses the U.S. no danger.
In “Highest Radiation in L.A. Air Yet,” Michael Collins reports results of testing radiation levels in California’s water: “One year after the Fukushima meltdowns began, these readings indicate that ocean-borne radiation may be making its way into waters off Southern California months before the inevitable tide of radioactive goo that will wash up. . . later this year through 2014.”
Moreover he writes that one reason radiation in the Los Angeles area is rising is because of “the enormous amount of radioactive ‘buckeyballs’ filled with 60 uranium uranyis apiece that continue to be produced at the stricken nuclear reactor site for almost a year.”
Even acclaimed nuclear expert Arnie Gundersen the Chief Engineer of Fairewinds Associates––who has said that Fukushima is ten times worse than Russia’s Chernobyl, and that at least one million Japanese will have cancer in the next 20 years––has warned that Fukushima waste can reach the United States.
Another nuclear expert, Marco Kaltofen of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute and and also a member of Fairewinds, recently told the American Public Health Association that “hot particles are contaminating portions of northern Japan . . . [and] . . that auto air filters from Fukushima . . . are so radioactive that they have to be disposed of in a buried radioactive waste disposal site in the U.S.”
Most important, when Kaltofen presented his findings to the American Public Health Association, he confirmed “the detection of hot particles in the U.S.” Moreover, he posits that Fairewinds Associates “believes that this is a personal health issue in Japan and a public health issue in the United States and Canada.”
Gunderson and Fairewinds Associates believe that––in light of the Fukushima meltdown– the Nuclear Regulatory Commission is not addressing major safety issues in U.S. power plants, including: “serious design flaws in the BWR Mark 1 containment, fundamental flaws in the Boiling Water Reactor vessel design, and problems with detonation shock-waves.”
Fairewinds insists: “The NRC and the nuclear industry are using a flawed cost benefit computer code that underestimates the value of human life and minimizes property damages after an accident, which has the effect of justifying continued operation of reactors without safety modifications.”
The NRC should beware. Bible verse cards say that God gave His Son that we may have life, not death: “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly (John 10: 10). Those who through neglect take man’s life face horrific judgment from God.
We asked the Newspaper Boys and Girls, Intl., if we could interrupt their report for an update on the whacky weather that is continuing around the world. Storms, floods, cyclones and tornadoes are already striking around the world. Not only destroying property, these continuing weather attacks are killing people.
Wendy: Although other parts of the world have been hit much harder, we will start with recent tornadoes in this country. Rare winter tornadoes in Alabama and North Carolina, have torn down both trailer and conventional homes, and left many residents injured. In North Carolina, the National Weather Service assesses that some 60 buildings were damaged.
In Alabama, seven tornadoes carrying “long-track single supercell” strength––some as high as EF-4 force with wind peaks as high as 150 mph––killed two persons and destroyed schools and other properties in 40 of that state’s 67 counties. But, Sarah, isn’t it much worse in other countries.
Sarah: Absolutely correct Wendy! For instance, torrential rain storms in Brazil killed 33 people this month. The storms produced floods and landslides severe enough to burst a dike in Rio de Janeiro, causing some 4,000 resident to flee from their homes. According to AFP Press, one landslide alone killed 18 people.
In the last two weeks in Mozambique, cyclones ‘Dando’ and ‘Funso,’ carried by winds as high as 195 kilometers an hour, and bring resulting floods, have killed at least 25 victims, and others are reported missing. AFP says that some 5,000 victims have crossed the border to Malawi to escape cyclone and flood damage, and one official says that thousands more “are still marooned in dry patches of land in the flooded villages.” And of course, maize fields and other agriculture are under water and innumerable live stocks have drowned.
AFP also reports that in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, a disastrous deluge and resulting floods have killed at least six people and displaced some 10,000 residents from their homes. Power is out in most places, roads are closed, and with water supplies low, officials are fearful of coming water-borne illnesses.
One official warned: “Do not delay your evacuation. Roads will be congested or closed. You could become trapped and need rescue . . . Remaining in flooded areas is dangerous and may place your life at risk.” Governments of France, Australia and New Zealand and aid workers are coordinating disaster aid.
Wendy: Also on the whacky weather list: snow fell in the Sahara Desert. Nine News reports that some people welcomed the unusual site of snow in the desert, hoping the cold weather would kill palm tree parasites.
Weather experts know that Global Warming is the cause of this whacky weather. We must pray in these last days. Bible verse cards promise that God calms the storms and stills the waves when we solely trust in Him (Psalm 107: 29).
One way to understand the urgency about Japan’s ocean radiation dumping is to review conditions of the world’s salt water systems before that nation’s disaster. In addition to the radiation Japan and other nations had already poured in, ocean waters are clogged with multi-thousand square mile islands of household and industrial garbage, massive oil spills, non-dissolvable plastics that choke sea animals mistaking them for food, medicinal and other industrial chemicals, etc.
All of these man-made pollutants bring increasing threats of deadly acidity, extremely poisonous to plant and animal sea life. These induced toxins have attacked coral and algae throughout oceans and seas––vegetation vital for fish survival, and sea water cleansing. Oceans also now contain the most dangerous faux-plants, Red Tide Algae, an ancient substance that causes brain damage in sea animals and in the people who eat those animals. Moreover, overfishing has greatly depleted seafood populations. And, like the rest of earth, the seas are in peril from the overheating caused by Global Warming.
Undoubtedly, there will soon be a tipping point. And Japan’s radiation dumping may well be it. In 2006, Kenneth R. Weiss and Usha Lee McFarling presented a revealing five-part series in The Los Angeles Times called “Altered Oceans.” They pointed out that human pollution is killing ocean life: 90% of the world’s stock of tuna, cod and big fish disappeared in the last 50 years; 650 gray whales washed up sick or dead on the west coast of the United States between 1999 and 2006; there are at least 150 oxygen-depleted dead zones around the world; and ocean toxins are now found in this nation’s rivers.
That was five years ago. Today, researchers know that these statistics are far, far worse. In addition to above sources of ocean acidification, BBC News pointed out in 2009 that it is caused by ominous increases in the worldwide burning of fossil fuels. In 2010, Jessica Marshall wrote in Discovery News that changing ocean chemistries reduce the iron necessary for phytoplankton survival––and phytoplankton is the crucial first in the sea animal food chain. Also last year, Dr. Carol Turley, head of Britain’s National Oceanography Center, released research on man-made causes of rising ocean acidity with the warning, “We need to start thinking about the risk to food security.”
Japanese citizens, and their neighbors along the Pacific rim, already think about food security. But, as taught in online Bible lessons, The Book of Psalms promises that the faithful believer’s security rests in Christ: “Trust in The LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed (37: 3)”; “Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass (37: 7).” Nuclear power is certainly not a devise in which one should trust!
